The Karaethon Cycle

And it shall come to pass that what men made shall be shattered and the Shadow shall lie across the Pattern of the Age, and the Dark one shall once more lay his hand upon the world of man. Women shall weep and men quail as the nations of the earth are rent like rotting cloth. Neither shall anything stand nor abide...

Yet one shall be born to face the Shadow, born once more as he was born before and shall be born again, time without end. The Dragon shall be Reborn, and there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth at his rebirth. In sackcloth and ashes shall he clothe the people, and he shall break the world again by his coming, tearing apart all ties that bind. Like the unfettered dawn shall he blind us, and burn us, yet shall the Dragon Reborn confront the Shadow at the Last Battle, and his blood shall give us the Light. Let tears flow, O ye people of the world. Weep for your salvation.

On the slopes of Dragonmount shall he be born, born of a maiden wedded to no man.

The Shadow shall rise across the world, and darken every land, even to the smallest corner, and there shall be neither Light nor safety. And he who shall be born of the Dawn, born of the Maiden, according to Prophecy, he shall stretch forth his hand to catch the Shadow, and the world shall scream in pain of salvation. All Glory be to the Creator, and to the Light, and to he who shall be born again. May the Light save us from him.

He will be of the ancient blood, and raised by the old blood.

And his paths shall be many, and who shall know his name, for he shall be born among us many times, in many guises, as he has been and ever will be, time without end. His coming shall be like the sharp edge of the plow, turning our lives in furrows from out of the plaves where we lie in our silence. The breaker of bonds; the forger of chains. The maker of futures; the unshaper of destiny.

Twice and twice shall he be marked,

twice to live, and twice to die.

Once the heron, to set his path.

Twice the heron to name him true.

Once the Dragon for remembrance lost.

Twice the Dragon, for the price he must pay.

For he shall come like the breaking dawn, and shatter the world again with his coming, and make it anew.

With his coming are the dread fires born again. The hills burn, and the land turns sere. The tides of men run out, and the hours dwindle. The wall is pierced, and the veil of parting raised. Storms rumble beyond the horizon, and the fires of heaven purge the earth. There is no salvation without destruction, no hope this side of death.

The seals that hold back night shall weaken, and in the heart of winter shall winter's heart be born amid the wailing of lamentations and the gnashing of teeth, for winter's heart shall ride a black horse, and the name of it is Death.

Power of the Shadow made human flesh, wakened to turmoil and strife and ruin. The Reborn One, marked and bleeding, danced the sword in dreams and mist, chains the Shadowsworn to his will, from the city, lost and forsaken, leads the spears to war once more, breaks the spears and makes them see, truth long hidden in the ancient dream.

As the plow breaks the earth shall he break the lives of men, and all that was shall be consumed in the fire of his eyes. The trumpets of was shall he sound at his footsteps, the raven feed at his voice, and he shall wear a crown of swords.

The north shall he tie to the east, and the west shall be bound to the south.

Into the heart he thrusts his sword, into the heart, to hold their hearts. Who draws it out shall follow after. What hand can grasp that fearful blade?

The unstained tower breaks and bends knee to the forgotten sign. The seas rage, and stormclouds gather unseen. Beyond the horizon, hidden fires swell, and serpents nestle in the bosom. What was exalted in cast down; and what was cast down is raised up. Order burns to clear his path.

Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed.

Once for mourning, once for birth.

Red on black, the Dragons blood stains the rocks of Shayol Ghul.

In the Pit of Doom shall his blood free men from the Shadow.

His blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul, washing away the Shadow, sacrifice for man's salvation.

There can be no health in us, nor any good thing grow, for the land is one with the Dragon Reborn, and he one with the land. Soul of fire, heart of stone, in pride he conquers, forcing the proud to yield. He calls upon the mountains to kneel, and the seas to give way, and the very skies to bow. Pray that the heart of stone remembers tears, and the soul of fire, love.

Start debating!

I doubt he will gloss over things. The series is too perfect for that. So many hidden details that weave together......oh, its soo good. OK, sorry. Yeah, he won't say "This means this, and this means that," but he will probably leave it up to forums and chats like this to figure out what the hell all that damned prophecy means.

*edit* also, are those the orignal prophecy, or translations?

Well, I doubt he will glose over anything from ther Karaethon Cycle, since that is aimed at TG. I'm very sure everything concerning TG will be resolved, the threads he will leave hanging will be about what happens afterwards, when the world has to start piece itself together again. And the KC has no part in that world.

So far everything he's mentioned in the Prophecies, at the beginning or end of the book, has come to pass pretty much as he's said it. There's really not much to talk about. It's all happened as he's prophecised (or close enough to make it obvious) and will continue. His blood shall spill on the slopes of Shayol Ghul, just as we've always known.

Ive got the feeling 2 dawns the day means rand will see one dawn, then be reborn and see the sun again, but it'll be from a different point of view because he'll be in Moridin's body.

PS. don't really like the idea of LTT getting killed with Ishy, or the idea that Rand's body'll be destroyed, since i think it's sweet that he's 6'6 with red hair  , and i put that smiley there cuz I like it :D

ooh' date=' ooh, ooh, i want to see two dawns the day or whatever. that would be so cool.[/quote']

I would guess another usage of the male Chodan Kal. It is still partially burried. The hole would provide a horizon and the sphere the sun. I'm getting the idea from the way that the sphere was described as "shining like a glorious summer sun" when they used them to cleanse Saidin. If they use it at night, they might trigger an illusionary sunrise.

By the way, I have seen a lot of references to the female Chodan Kal having melted when they cleansed Saidin. Is that something mentioned in Knife of Dreams? Winter's Heart mentions the access key being destroyed, but not the actual sa'angreal.

I think Cansuande has to help him with that but when Elaida's foretelling that Andor will be the key to winning the Last Battle that when Elanye has the babies that Cansuande will tell him to do something or she will hurt the babies. The babies being Andor.

Elaida's Foretelling says the royal line of Andor, not just Andor. Incidently, Rand belongs to the royal line pre-Morgase, which might have been the current line when Elaida had that Foretelling, since she was just an Accepted.

From The Shadow Rising, Chapter 1 "Seeds of Shadow"

Apart from everything else, it infuriated her that she could not find Elayne. Elaida had the Foretelling sometimes, the ability to foresee future events. If it came seldom and faintly, that was still more than any Aes Sedai had had since Gitara Moroso, dead now twenty years. The very first thing Elaida had ever Foretold, whil still an Accepted - and had known enough to keep to herself - was that the Royal line of Andor would be the key to defeating the Dark One in the Last Battle. She had attached herself to Morgase as soon as it was clear Morgase would succeed to the throne, had built her influence year by patient year. And now all her effort, all her sacrifice - she might have been Amyrlin herself had she not concentrated all her energies on Andor - might be for naught because Elayne had disappeared.

Based on that quote, it is likely that Elaida's foretelling predated Tigraine's disappearance. It was that disappearance that opened the way for Morgase to take the throne. Elaida would have needed to be an Aes Sedai herself before she could have attached herself to Morgase, and Elaida didn't do that until it was clear that Morgase would be the next Andoran queen. By necessity she almost has to have been Raised either during, or before, the Succession.

Rand' date=' Elayne, Galad and Gawyn are all pretty self-evidently critical for the Light to win. Morgase, as well. Luc, on the other hand...

:?: :?: :?:[/quote']

You do not know this. The only one CRITICAL is Rand. The others will play their part, but the only critical member of the royal line at the time of the Foretelling is Rand. Of course the others are important, but only in a secondary sense.
