Well one by those since I said. Eurovision tends to be such that it's fun on the evening, but one doesn't care so much about it until next year. I'll try to remember what albums are in question, but I can't see for sure there in the pile. Might be a nice sort of DJ set, dunno:

I could put three more, to find a hit to end the show... ooh, but this is an encore. The encore is made of Erikah Badu, Sepultura, and Rolling Stones. And lets not pretend there's not gonna be a second encore, that is but Christina Aguilera:

Three more for Pet Shop Boys, by numbers, though the list is not complete yet (No knowing where Tarja Turunen and Nightwish can get, or ZZ Top, though I don't suppose past 50.) Three more, four more, five:

I translated this song, Minne paha haudattin, a long tine ago.

I would like to try again

Where evil was buried

The song it groans and it flees from here, its cries I have heard

the thrust of the swell of the open sea to have made into words

The churches, temples, did I build for it

I deceived, I did suffer, by deceit did I protect it from myself

Did I love truly or as in songs

replacing sensitivity with strenght, with will

I thought quietude a language,

I so thought I heard all even though it was not said

I sought a direction that is directionless,

at the sea of infinity did I set to build a house on sand

Where evil was buried

there bury me

Don't go -- now that it feels

worse -- than to die amidst

a nightmare -- where one has not done

aught good -- to anyone

Now the skies glow blossoming fire. water laps but heavily

bronzen upon the deeps

On the air one senses Autumn

swallows fly, recall frosts of winter and flee

Beyond the breath of life there is set forth

a landscape of fear, this is what drives the singer.

I could also translate Minun sydämeni on särkynyt

Mine heart is shattered

Hark how it says

leave your childhood here

press your hands in the soil

stay and await the rise of dawn

Grief stays here alike poverty

alike the trust of the wilderness

the chalice of promise

and the pain does not abate

Write it in sand -- sand keeps its trust

write it in the stream -- water flows home

write it in the air -- birds take aflight

write it in memories, they flow along like roads

Look where lies the wisdom

that built the cities

that wrote libraries

to bursting with loneliness

When the desert wind

licks at the empty stream of you

and your mighty phrases

catch in your throat

Write it in the Light -- light journeys to emptiness

write it into the evening -- evening becomes night

write it into fear -- fear is frightened of itself

write it to be words; they become other words

When your memory no longer hurts anyone

that is when mine heart shall break

when your memory no longer shall hurt anyone

my heart is journeying

over a restless land

my heart shall shatter

to follow the wind.

To translate also Taivaanääreläiset.  Meaning, being beyond our scope.

When you had said what you said

I heard a thousand of doors

upon murky corridors inevitably close

when you had said what you said

I saw upon multitudes of crossroads

wither thousands of signposts

And you only blicked your eyes

looked away a moment

as generations died and cities fell

Let days pass and moons pale

let love but last till the morrow

let death close the mouths of deceivers

I do not believe in the ghost of love, palest

When you had said what you said

within me there died a child

that believed in a world without bounds

when you had said what you said

I was free to journey here

where each is alone with their fate

That day left a shard of a shattering heaven in your throat

and upon your brow a shard from the moonlight

that day left a sea dark wave to the sides of your eyes

and a witche's broom for a habitate of coldness

Let days pass and moons pale

let love but last till the morrow

let death close the mouths of deceivers

I do not believe in the ghost of love, palest.

It takes me a few weeks to update the list to what it shall be once I've listened to what I've posted. In the meantime, considering I went up my alltime greats, I wish to lower the tension. I will go by Enigma, and before anyone sneers, not that anyone will, the project's album is the third physical album I got, somewhere in the early nineties. Ah, I'll put seven here and try to stick to that (going past the three oh five after all) :). Perhaps nine or ten, I took out the cds and Enya is there, so two by her too in the middle. I suppose Returning to Innocence for last, though it might start. No, I'll start with the very first track of that album:

So I plan to start with Second Chapter, The Eyes of Truth, Enya song, I Love You... I'll Kill You, Silent Warriot, second Enya song, Out From the Deep; Sadeness, Almost Full Moon, Sadeness part ii, Amarantine (Enya), The Screen Behind the Mirror, Silence Must Be Heard; Age of Innocence. I hope I can find all these, two of the three Enya I am yet to choose.

Is this still this page, I think my first were Very, Songs of Love and Devotion, The Cross of Changes, Achtung Baby, Homogenic, and I can't remember further. Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie at somes stage, and No Need to Argue, and Portishead, but this are not in order and that was 25 years ago. You remember your first few and then they start to haze, is all I can say.

It is this sort of song contest:

https://mirjamhelin.fi/

EPERTOIRE

17 Each competitor must, on application, state the repertoire he/she intends to perform. Any changes to this repertoire must be submitted by 8 February 2019.

18 Repertoire

Preliminary round

1. An aria from a passion, oratorio, mass or cantata composed before 1760.

2. Two solo songs, of which at least one must be a Lied sung in German.

3. An opera or concert aria.

Each competitor will have a maximum of 20 minutes at his/her disposal.

Semifinals

1. A song by a Finnish composer.

2. A group of solo songs (lasting 15–20 minutes).

3. An opera or concert aria.

Each competitor will have a maximum of 30 minutes at his/her disposal.

Finals

Two works with orchestral accompaniment, of which at least one must be an opera, oratorio, cantata or concert aria.

Each competitor will have a maximum of 20 minutes at his/her disposal.

The group of solo songs in the Semifinals may, for example, consist of an entity comprising a song cycle or part of one, a group of songs by one composer, or a group of songs by different composers but having a common topic. The songs must be ones composed specifically for voice and piano or arranged by the composer him/herself for voice and piano.

19 The repertoire must include works sung in at least three languages. Each piece may appear only once in the competitor’s repertoire.

The placings of the final were: 1. Stefan Astakhov, 2.  Rodrigo Sosa Dal Pozzo, 3. Bryan Murray, 4. Jussi Juola; 1. Johanna Wallroth, 2. Olga Cheremnykh, 3. Tee An, and 4. Palesa Malieloa. Though all four top 4 finishers for men and women got a prize, seeing as getting to the final is a great achievement. Here are some reports along the run of the competition if interested, they alternate in Finnish and English, so scrolling a little down one may understand more of what is said: https://mirjamhelin.wordpress.com/

Oh, I forgot, Rodrigo Sosa Dal Pozzo additionally got the special prize of best sung song by a Finnish composer sung by a non-Finnish singer. He wowed the jury not only by singing in well understandable Finnish, though it was allowed to sing a translation. Books of translations had been mentioned well in advance, volumes 1&2 as I recall. Articulation goes nowhere without the singing of course, so he sang that best.
