[BotRH Org Discussion] Band Law - what should it contain?

As Horn as mentioned, it is high time to start over with the laws considering how much has changed since the laws were first created. That being said, I am not going to immediately post the current laws, but would like to hear from everyone here what they would like to include in the laws. Feel free to look at the current laws to know approximately where they are at/what they are but also feel free to bring up new ideas!

I'll have to read them before I actually add any thoughts, but I like the idea of helping to restructure the Band. This is my favorite SG, hands down.

I don't think the Band Law should have ANY content that correspond with site rules. We already agreed to site rules by clicking the "I agree" box when joining DM... including it would be redundant. I don't think the Band Law is a place to put our organizational structure or a code of conduct, but just a place where Redarms are to refer when having fun with a spotfine.

 

Laws I think we should include:

 

1. No spilling brew, to include (but not exclusive to) Battle Brew, Bandy, Flaming Shots, Guinfantry, Infantry Brew, Cavalry Brew, Archer Brew, Brew Tea, and MG Special Brew. In the spirit of not including ever single off-shoot, the Regimental drinks could probably be taken off of this list as Bandy, Flaming Shots, and Guinfantry have all mightily surpassed them in popularity.

 

2. No channelling, to include the One Power and the True Power.

 

3. No assaulting a senior officer, excepting when said senior officer either instigates an incident, or posts in a declared brawl. Random brawling among enlisted members or officers of the same rank is encouraged.

 

4. No inter-Band pranks without prior consent of the CG of the Regiment being pranked and either the Senior Staff or one's own CG. ("Prank" is a subjective term; the purpose of this law is to both provide a quality check on pranks, and avoid pranks going too far.)

 

5. No pranks on other Social Groups without consent of the Marshal-General. We had a bit of a blood feud with Shayul Ghul and the Black Tower for a good 4 or 5 years because of a prank done without the consent of their org leaders. This gives the MG opportunity to clear a prank with the leaders of the victimized social group.

There was a bit of an unspoken rule that no one from SG or BT were allowed to join the Band... and two Band members were particularly hated, very openly!

Brew tea will definitely stay lol It got added to the laws just because of me in the first place!

 

And I'm thinking it might be good to keep them under 10 or right at 10?

Or even less. Whatever they are, the Band Laws should all revolve around fun-- whether something silly for fun spot fines (spilling brew) or making sure something fun does not turn sour (pranks), etc, "fun" needs to be the common bond between them.

MG brews need to stay too.

 

Horns post looks good. Dont remember seeing it but Band law should indicate that you cannot take or use a cavs named horse archers named bow/dagger or an infantrys named weapon.; This include weapons that are a bit unique to the user. eg my ashendarei DJs axes. Rivas cutlass

I'm not sure we should include every weapon though.  Regimental weapons yes, but those that you have adopted yourself....that can get a little tricky.  IMHO.

I'd actually limit all this to the official regimental stuff (and brew tea). 

 

If somebody is stupid enough to (e.g.) steal Dices ashanderei then I assume that nobody would object to personal revenge or any drubbing Dice gave that said person?

hum but just in saying that I think that some of the personal weppons should be protected, I mean Riva wouldent be Riva without his cutless and I cant imaging Dj with out his axes, and then horn has his horses from his time with the Cav aswell as his Bow, so that would need to be protected in my opinion.

Well Horn's would be protected under regimental weapons I would think  I agree, they wouldn't be the same without those weapons, but I wouldn't think anyone would have the guts to steal Manny's cutlass and since DJ isn't around, no one can steal his axes.  LOL  I just don't want to see it get to the point where someone does decide to swipe someone's weapon as a prank and then that person say...oh but that's my special weapon such and such.  *shrugs*

that's true. Just regimental weapons is probably best. And Brid is correct... all the swag in my sig are regimental weapons.... if you get them legally, whether while in the regiment or presented to you by the regiment, they are always regimental weapons no matter your own status.

Yea ok I see your point, I can go with that, but dont be surrpised if Dj axes go missing net time I fly to boston I might just have to make a trip to where ever it is in massachusettes you are for a bit of thievery!! lol
