Surprised no one metioned this -

After Lan kills Demi, he is healed by Narishma,.....but Lan is still wearing the Foxhead copy......there is no mention of the foxhead being removed.  Presumably Lan is still wearing it, and thus can't be healed......

Narishma heals Lan?  I must have missed that.  I thought he just died.......and well, came back to life like those villagers at the dam.

May not be correct, feel free to enlighten me

1- circles. Androl and Pevara form a link and he grabs control of it. Women have to pass control no? Also she says a man must be in control. Another lie. P 101 "yes Pevara said. But when a man and woman link, the man must be in control. You must take the lead". "he eyed her, and she prepared herself to pass control to him. Instead, he somehow seized it."

2- circles. Pevara says that a circle can be 2 men and 1 woman. Pretty sure a circle can be 2 women and 1 man, or 1 and 1 but that men can not outnumber women ( having issues finding the quote...)

3-AS vs. Ashaman. Pevara over powers 2 Ashaman single handedly. Pretty sure that it's been established that men are stronger in the OP than women (generally) unless women are linked, then even weak women could overpower a man. Seems wrong that she can single hardly take down that many male channelers P 125

4-sense channeling. Pevara says that men can sense when a woman was holding the OP. not true is it? Without the aid of terangreal? P101. "It was downright unfair, that a man could tell when a woman was holding the One Power and when she wasn't"

5-horn. RJ said that Mat never severed his link to the horn. BS sort of ignored that comment to make Olver work. (on my iPad someone else may have to find the quote on the net or in the knowlgebase)

4 - We've known men can sense women holding the power from almost the start of the series, Rand would get goosbumps when Egwene or Elain held the power.

5 - Hmm, I've never seen that from RJ, would be interesting to hear if it was explained in the notes, or if RJ was specifically mentioning the first death, and not the death prevented with balefile.

I don't believe any such quote exists. RJ never said such a thing.

BBM is correct. Also, check out The Song of Roland. Olver was always intended to blow the Horn.

Thanks guys. I remembered wrong, the quote was confirming his death not his tie to the horn:

Nope, he gets them when women are just holding the Power. This was demonstrated in TSR "Hard Heads" (Egwene and Elayne) and again in LOC with the Aes Sedai emissaries. And other times, but those two are the most memorable. I do believe, however, that Mat's medallion only goes cold when someone actually channels.

Terez, is this a 'man' power or just a Dragon's power?

Did we see any other instances of this being proven aside from Rand?

Just curious because I'm correcting things I thought that were incorrect :D

mess is another word for food/grub/etc. Such as a "mess hall"

So it's basically saying "the trollocs don't have to worry about food supplies," which makes perfect sense in context.

Have not looked through this thread but there were a couple of typos within the book. One which got me pretty worried was Logan as opposed to Logain. I hoped it was not a turned version of Logain or something. Knowing his mental instability at the time you could never know :)

Also I cant recall when but there is one reference to Myrelle fighting. Myrelle was with the Aes Sedai who went to bond the Ashaman (Nynaeve travelled there to get Lan's bond) and she should have still been there I believe. (I need to re read that as it may have made sense actually, just finished so a bit all over the place)

Also there is one point where I believe it was Androl (I think) who was described as making trollocs go through gateways and then having them deposited on the other side. (I think they were still alive, but maybe they were not)

This is not necessarily an error, but I found it thoroughly frustrating when the reinforcements from Merrilor arrived at Tarwin's Gap. Remember when Nynaeve and Elayne and Mat Traveled to a place waaay outside of Ebou Dar because they didn't want to accidentally kill anyone? So how did the people coming to help Lan know where to place those gateways?

I'm not too far into the book, but this really bothered me,

Page 108:  Aviendha said "......    Do I have toh?"

An Aiel would never ask if they had toh, much less a former Far Dareis Mai .

I wouldn't even bother trying to figure out ji'e'toh, it's convoluted as hell. Aveindha talks about never telling someone whether they have toh in LoC, and then tells Elayne she has toh in ACOS.

May not be correct, feel free to enlighten me

But when a man and woman link, the man must be in control. You must take the lead". "he eyed her, and she prepared herself to pass control to him. Instead, he somehow seized it."

It's possible to forcibly take control of a circle. It happens to Elayne in PoD with the Bowl of Windrs, for instance. Since Pevara was already preparing to pass control, it wouldn't be impossible for Androl to just ake it.

2- circles. Pevara says that a circle can be 2 men and 1 woman. Pretty sure a circle can be 2 women and 1 man, or 1 and 1 but that men can not outnumber women ( having issues finding the quote...)

It's specifically mentioned that 2 men/1 woman is the exception to that rule.

3-AS vs. Ashaman. Pevara over powers 2 Ashaman single handedly. Pretty sure that it's been established that men are stronger in the OP than women (generally) unless women are linked, then even weak women could overpower a man. Seems wrong that she can single hardly take down that many male channelers P 125

Men can seize more raw power, but women can weave better, making them more efficient. It comes out to pretty much the same relative power level.

As for beating three asha'man of the same power level, its noted that Pevara had a few hundred years of training for this women vs men combat, while the men are trained mostly in nonchanneler combat, and have little of that. It would be like Perrin vs Lan--Perrin might be stronger, but that doesn't mean crap when Lan is better.

4-sense channeling. Pevara says that men can sense when a woman was holding the OP. not true is it? Without the aid of terangreal? P101. "It was downright unfair, that a man could tell when a woman was holding the One Power and when she wasn't"

Men feel goosebumps when women nearby are holding the power.

Not sure if this is a mistake...? Chapter 24 starts in Tuon's POV, and the first references of Mat are either as "Mat" or "Matrim." On the top of page 436, she renames him Knotai, and in the first paragraph after that explaining what it means he's described as Mat. Then he's Knotai for most of the rest of the scene, since it's from Tuon's perspective I guess. But in one line on the next page it's "'Tuon...' Mat warned." Deliberate switch back to his own name since he's being familiar with her, or should that have been changed too?

That's Tuon thinking of Mat/Knotai in two different way. Knotai is the Prince of the Ravens, her husband and a noble, but Mat is a scoundrel, and a local. When i was reading that it immediately jumped out at me, since i've come to recognize it after ASOIAF (try looking for a point where Sandor scares Sansa--you never will, he will always be referred to as "The Hound" if he's scaring her).

It's a man thing. Another example is Sammael and Graendal, LOC 6.

It's not the first time it's happened in the series. The Forsaken Travel directly to each other's abodes in the early books, and Rand Traveled directly to Mat's tent once. It's implied that there is some skill involved, but it's never explained. It's also implied that it's easier to do this when making gateways a short distance.

There are lots of missing Ash'aman. We are told that there are close to 1000 Ash'aman in the earlier books. There are no AM at Kandor, about 30 with Rand at SG, about 20 with Lan and the borderlanders and about 100 with Logain. So that means there are 800 Ash'aman missing or with Taim. But Taim did not have 800 AM,so what happened to the majority of AM?

And what about the Wise Ones. There were more than 1000 WO's but only about 2 dozen go to SG. What are the rest doing?Whya re they not fighting on any fronts?

@Terez, very true! And I guess this distance within Shienar is relatively short. Maybe it bothered me so much because I'd spent some time trying to imagine how Lan's rescue would go, and just Traveling to exactly the right place at exactly the right time, without sending scouts first or making contact or anything, seemed a bit too simple. And these gateways are so large, it's easy to picture them opening up right in the middle of Lan's army and cutting a long row of soldiers in half. Oh, well...

(P.S. I couldn't make the quote function work, sorry about that!)

Yeah, that did happen at Dumai's Wells. They made a bunch of gateways into the middle of the whole mess, and lots of people/horses got sliced because of it.

I did not make a notation of the where this occurs, (I just tried looking for it and can't find it), but somewhere in the book, there is a typo saying Egwene drew on the True Power, instead of the One Power.  Will look again later when I have more time to try and find the exact page #
