Why Do I Keep Doing This To Myself (A paranoid guy who seems to hate most things reading WOT REALLY slowly)

Recommended Posts

Okay, Why did Mesaana, the one co-ordinating the elusive, careful and highly dangerous Black Ajah, the one who orchestrated the tower schism, why would SHE not bother to look into claims that the Amyrlin Seat might suspect one of her top agents (who not only knows many of the Black Ajah within the tower but was also described by Mesaana as being highly useful) of being a Darkfriend? And why would the Dark One have the sense to have Alviarin look into it when she doesn't? Mesaana's antics up until now have pretty much proven to me that she isn't stupid. So why?

And also, did the Dark One really care about the Black Ajah being outed? Or was his order and branding of Alviarin just a means of punishing Mesaana? (specifically countering her wishes just to show that he's in control so she'll know her place. That kind of thing)

and now I'm on book 11.

And I see one of my favourite characters. Galina.

God I'm in a bad mood. I so despise needing to read something in which a character I like is tortured and mentally broken. worse I'm also meant to ENJOY it bcause she's the "bad guy" (grinds teeth)

Beat her in a verbal duel. HAve a conversation with her that doesn't end in the opposing party either looking dumb or being impressed by how utterly amazing Egwene is at everything. Let her suffer SOME kind of defeat that has a great effect on her. Not something she gets over instantly.

Erm... I don't really know the earlier half of AMoL well, but she might have one there.

By the way, you might like the book I'm writing.

It's going to get much worse.

Also, if you thought that RJ was pulling the "let's make one party dumb so that the other looks good" routine, you'll have some real troubles digging your way though the BS-written books of the series.

People keep saying this as if it somehow ISN'T an issue with RJ's storytelling. As if it wasn't an issue until BS and that I' just makign crap up.

It probably will be worse with BS but I refuse to believe that I'm just imaigining the disgusting way in which RJ treats the abilities of his characters.

I never noticed anything like that in the RJ books. In the BS books it's there, very blatantly. Almost every single scene works like that.

You're just really grumpy lol.

But as I said already, maybe you should wait for my book. I promise you everyone always truly attempts to do what they think is best for them. No weak reasons to make the story go well, because I write the story line (which I detail after in the books themselves) taking logical choices for all the characters. No need for ta'veren to explain things in my book.

And on top of that I don't really save my characters. There are some I know I will survive, but that only means they are alive, not that they still have all their body parts. And the vast majority of who you meet might just die somewhere.

Ta'vereness doesn't even bother me as a concept. I just want to know it's limits. Give me a way a Ta'veren could die before the pattern wants them to and I'd be fine.

I'm not the writer... Maybe it can happen by suicide? Walking right up to him and balefiring him and everything around him back to the Age of Legends?

but the pattern would know you're about to Balefire him. It would predict it and contrive either a reason for you to miss or have him be around something that could disrupt the weave.

Don't ask a question if you're going to deny the answer until the answer is what you want (being able to continue to grumble at WoT).

Still, if you would do something of the magnitude of what Rand did to Graendal's palace, I highly doubt even a ta'veren would survive that. The only reason Graendal did was because Rand first made sure she was there. If I were a Forsaken, I wouldn't do that.

But this is how I work. If you give me an answer I expect it to be one I can't answer back to. I think way too much and I seem to natrually want extensive answers.

    • They, as in the old saying.
    • Noone is doing that type of poll at present. It should be noted that Biden has always been popular in Northeast PA, Lehigh- Allentown-Bethleham area which  are the old steel mill towns that swung 20% -40% between the 2012 and 2016 elections.
    • Actually read the London Mail's article on the proposed Alabama statute and similar statutes the goal is to have the Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade which would return the abortion issue to individual states.  Alabama, Georgia, etc would prohibit abortions of Fetus after a heartbeat is detected. New York and California would be free to continue there policy of allowing abortions till the child is actually born (and even  afterword if  a late term Fetus survives being aborted.)      "Can you point out where exactly the constitution defines what a Person is? Whether Embryonic Cells, or even a Fetus are a 'person'?"   It does not it leaves such questions to the individual states.
    • Nope if you actually are going to opine about a law at least have the sense to look at the damn statute or an arucle that actually cites the law.   Alabama lawmakers propose law that would punish abortion providers with up to 99 years in prison in bid to get Supreme Court reversal of Roe v Wade Republicans introduced bill into the Alabama Senate and House on Tuesday Bill would make performing abortions Class A felony, punishable up to 99 years Would not punish women receiving abortions and includes medical exemption https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6889279/Alabama-lawmakers-propose-law-making-performing-abortions-felony.html   The proposed law specifically applies only to abortion providers not the women who attempt or get abortions.
    • Sammael altering the minds of the people is probably a result of the connection he has with the Dark One. We have seen the black cords off Ba alzammon and Asmodean in previous books. That connection allows the Dark One to influence the world a bit more in spite of the seals being in place. But it is a probably a limited range like a city wide range of influence. Tear was affected to by Be'lal in the same way.
