After a very thoughtful discussion in the Chat Room *cosmicpanda,Barid Bel Medar,lolguy26*

these where the conclusions

  • 1. Why do we only hear about channelers going mad and channeling? Why do they never get drunk and channel?

  •
    2. It seems too perfect to be true. Obviously, drunkenness in channelers is explained as madness.

  •
    3. Lews Therin must have been drunk when he broke the world.

  •
    4. In fact, there is no such thing as the 'taint' or the DO.

  •
    5. The DO is just the Creator when drunk.

  •
    6. Since Bela is the Creator, drunk Bela is the DO.

  • 7. People talk more loudly when they're drunk. This is why Bela uses all caps when she's the DO

  • 8. It's all very embarrassing and nobody likes to talk about it much. But it'll all come out at Shayol Ghul during the last battle.

  • 9. TL;DR: The WoT is a moving tale about a struggle with alcohol abuse.

If you want to add more, just post it :bela: :bela:

I think the reason why you do not hear about it is that you have become temporarily deaf from the explosions caused when someone think brandy and fireballs are good combination and the weaves get a little blurry. Remember friends don't let friends channel when drunk, that is what shields are there for. :P

Elaine becomes drunk (through her bond with Brigette) and channels. Although silly, she would not be confused for mad. So, unless only male channelers become angry drunks, your otherwise bullet proof theory becomes only somewhat bullet resistant.

Obviously she isnt really drunk. She is only reflecting Birgette's state of mind. If she were to actually drink, thats when the fun starts.

Who needs alcohol when you have magick? You can always get drunk on he Power instead, perhaps all channelers are drunk all the time, that would explain some of the rather peculiar things some of the characters have done in the series. :P

I think he might be on to something
