Claire has is hosting a WT SG event/class on RPing and has asked permission for members of the WT RP to gain some credit for participation in it.

So I came here to let you all be aware of this, as it just went up for sign ups in the WT SG. And I would like to get your opinions on the request for credit.

My first thought is to give members we currently have credit for completing the SG class (possibly with the restriction that they must post a WT RP before it goes through, or some other way to actually get them active again here, not just talking RP in the SG).

If we gain new members they could count it as the equivalent of one of the extra requirements, again only going into effect after they complete their Meet the MoN RP.

The class itself will just be on RPing in general, it will teach SGers the process of making a bio and then they will do a Rev. One RP to learn how the boards work and general RPing. So we won't really be involved with the class itself, but it could lead to participants in the class making bio's for AS and joining us.

We are not obligated to offer any incetive for this, but it could help increase membership if we do offer something. At the same time I don't want to have a bunch of new members joining and being superstars/skipping important req.

Please share your thoughts!

I'd say that if they've done Claire's class, allow them to skip straight to Accepted, or to do one required RP (any one) in order to be raised to full Aes Sedai. That way you might get a whole bunch of people to become active RPers.

i didn't even see this...why didn't I see this? *ugh* stupid not clicking on forums.....Anywho I like LG's idea, since I wasn't sure how we would reward people for doing her class. Letting them become Accepted right away seems like a good compromise. :)

Oo good idea! I'm thinking there's be some people joining anyway, but that's a good 'spoonful of sugar' to attract people :P But then again they might want to RP as novices?? Could it count as the RP saidar class req maybe?

I don't know if I'd let them go straight to Accepted, but letting it take the place of an RP class/requirement or two sounds like a good idea. I think that's how we handled it the last time Claire offered this class (we got a lot of activity from it, then, too! :) ). Letting someone skip ahead because they took a class that wasn't even run by the RP group generally irritates folks who've done the actual work to get raised and are already here. We want to keep them, too, so...

How would feel about letting people who completed the class being able to write to their bio up to just before the arches for accepted? They would have make it a good bio up to that point, then they would have to RP the arches, and then RP out the rest of the Accepted requirements like a normal character?

This should give them good motivation to follow through and make a character, but it would give them time to feel out their actual character, play her at the N&A level and get to know the members we have already IC&OOC and explore the ajahs to find the one her character should join.

Basically instead of stating as a new novice and dok g meet the mon, the class and the req free choice rps they would write thier bio up to that point then do the last novice req rp, the three arches and start as an accepted.

Then they would have to play out the accepted req and up to further thier character.

This way thy good a decent sized jump and incentive to join but not so free ride as to start at the top.

And I just realized this is what Elgee suggested and doesn't really address Lors concern, which I totally agree with.

This class really is only one thing, and not even in our group. And it isn't done with their character that they do submit. I am thinging of reworking the requirements for Novices but working with what we have now I would still like a compromise of some sort. I don't want to give free rides to people, but I do want to incite people to join us, and this class is work they put into RPing.

Since it is an OOC class it does make sense that it could cover the IC class requirement for Novices and have them still need to rp out the rest of the requirements.

Do you think that is enough incentive to actually join? Or should it count for 2? the class and Novice life or a free choice one? I suppose we could wait and see how many bios we get.

If you want to go two, I'd let it count as the class and the free choice option. They'd still need a Novice Life one (which would help plant the Ajah relation into their character without it being a big rush there at the end) AND they'll have some friends to play with, too. I'd say just let it count as a class and let them RP the other two, but I'm also of the generation who did a TON of RP'ing before we got anywhere. lol, and "Free Choice" wasn't even an option back in my day.

You know... uphill both ways, barefoot, in the snow... *coughs*

So, I think her class is coming to and soon, so I'd like to get this decided.

My biggest issue with all of this is that I very much plan to review the basic requirements for Novice and Accepted. I would really like to wait until we have a MoN as it will be a huge effect on their job load, and more heads to have more voices to decide things.

I know Elgee was starting to look into making changes, and I know that personally I had many a conversation with members of the Tower who spoke of changes to the requirements.

The trouble i'm having that I am trying to think about 3 things at once in this regard and I can't.

1) Do we change the standard expected Requirments that will be in place in a flourishing Tower.

2) Do we possibly edit bio restrictions to temperarily allow characters to start at Accepted until we gain more active members

3) How do we give the members who took this class a reward for doig that and then joining us.

That is why i was so scattered earlier. All 3 of those points are going to be disuccessed in the near future (when staff is completely sorted out).

So, I think taking 1 and 2 since we aren't dealing with them yet and focusing on the real concern, 3, I think that having the best thing to do for the members who we do gain from this (if any) is to let it count as only the Class requirement for novice.

Then if we make any further changes in the future we can adjust their stuff then.

Can I get yeas and nays on this?

I like that idea!!! A class is a class and they'll have time for character development with the other requirements. :)

Her class is winding down and she asked me to confirm if there will be a credit. I told her yes but not what it was. I think we'll lock this in at having it count as the novice class requirement.

I also think we should give them the option to take the op class as there free choice if they want to play out that class too?
