MAFIA ALT ACCOUNTS

...are getting shelved for a while. No exceptions. I don't like what I'm seeing with them, and I've seen multiple folks complain about them. They'll make a comeback again, but not for a while.

 

My apologies to anybody that is thinking of using them.

 

 

 

Note: once Red's game is over, I don't expect to see any posts from them. Even in the same game - as soon as Red calls the game, the posting in the alt accounts ends. Sorry if this impacts folks looking to mod - my sincere apologies.....but like I said, I'm not liking what they have been bringing right now.

Sorry about that. And not really on the timeline - safe to say you'll want to mod your game without them, though.

There are multiple things, but one specific is the way they are being used for meta. People are either truly forgetting to post on the alt, or purposefully doing it as a tactic. Both are not the intention of the accounts. The only real use for them is to disguise yourself to remove meta. When people use it to purposely confirm who they are, it isn't being used properly. Having a running tally on who is who completely removes the reason for having the alts in the first place.

 

 

The alts can be fun - I get it. But when they come back for a game, the inevitable rush to have everybody use them in a bunch of games takes the fun out of them. They will come back when the right game is there for them.

I did have 1 mispost outside the game designated threads but that was wrapped up rather quickly I run multiple browsers on my home cp so it gets confusing at times.

these specific alt accoutns were only designed for Mafia Rand, so i don't see how your coudl use them for soemthing else

You aren't referring to the MJ alts as well, are you Verb? I don't mean restricting their use, but the fact that everyone revealed themselves over there? Cause switching to alts midgame was just lame imo, it really hurt the town.

 

As for the other things you brought up, I'm not saying his post outside the thread was on purpose, but I think it's fairly obvious that EP's posting in Red's game on his main account was on purpose, he even said he was going to do it to try and get modkilled to "prove" his attackers wrong. I think punishing everyone because of the actions of one guy is a little extreme. Why not just suspend EP from the mafia board for a little bit? I've noticed he's also broken the "Bah" dead post rule in like 3 seperate circumstances, a couple of times with egregious type posts

I don't want to single out any 1 player - that is not my intention here. Was that instance known to me? Yes. I am aware of a lot that happens in games even though I'm not actually playing in them. I have eyes and ears everywhere. ;-) (buwahaha)

 

But seriously, the alts are fun. I get that. They just need the right game to make the best use of them. And a memo to all: please don't go trying to design a game for them right now and attempt to get me to reverse this - it won't happen. Not right now. Let's just get back to playing mafia the normal way and have some fun. The alts will come back, and we'll have a blast with them.

I'd also like to add that DM is not MJ and it would kind of suck if things that are happening there effect what happens here

If the two communities are so tightly bound maybe we should all just start a completely separate forum for just us mafia players ya know?

No it wasn't on purpose Desp, I was talking about quoting the mod, which I decided against however you speaking of active games outside of them is against the spirit of the game.

This however is not something that should be discussed openly, if you think I have done something purposefully wrong it should be discussed between me you and the mod of such game. I only recall 1 time I messed up a bah on here. That because I didn't know I was dead. The other time you could be referring to I forgot no Bah posts were allowed and apologised to Wombat 2 seconds after hitting post.

I can't exactly raise the issue with the mod when you have already died, can I EP? And there were 2 separate times here on DM that you included game info in your post after you died. You tried covering your tracks by saying "I haven't even read the last few pages yadda yadda yadda", but everyone saw it for what it was. Just like everyone saw you posting on your main in the alt game as what it was. And yes, I prob shouldn't be talking about that game while it's still going on, but the fact is I really don't like how often you break the rules of the game and try to pass it off as a simple mistake.

Incidentally, I also don't like how you requested that your thoughts be posted from the QT in BG's Smash Bros game after you died, that was also completely outside the spirit of the game. So that would be a FOURTH time you had your game thoughts posted after you had died in a game.

Well, you did say that you saw there being pushes for everyone to reveal their true identities as alts, which didn't happen here at DM, but DID happen at MJ. There were a couple of people trying to guess true identities in Red's game, which was really dumb imo, but no push for mass reveal or anything like that

I wasn't trying to belittle your decision but it does seem influenced by Wombats game on MJ as well as Red's game here

If that's not the case then great

 

Personally I don't care overmuch whether alts are allowed or banned or put on temporary leave or anything so carry on I guess
