i found the poor fellow one day, lost and hungry, so i fed it and stuff like that, and the dog started to follow me, so i decided to keep him

So im driving down the interstate, rocking out, and it's safe to assume I have had a drink or three, nothing over the top, I just got off work and am on my way home. But there is nobody waiting on me to get home anymore, and the most heart wrenching loneliness tears the breath from me.

 

What is the purpose of our existences if not sharing our joys and sorrows. Reveling in our triumphs and being consoled in our failures? To what purpose do we aspire to if not to share the deepest levels of ourselves to others.

 

Why is this dam semi in front of me doing fifteen under the speed limit? As I drive by, there are police and ambulance lights flashing, and a lone siren wailing its anguish to the dark of the night. A young wmen is sobbing over a guerney being loaded into the back of an ambulance.

 

Reality sets in. There was a woman that had shared heart and soul with one such as i. A woman who had shared in my grief and had been my best friend. I can't help but wonder where she is, how she is doing. Does she feel the same sting of guilt as i? Or the heart wrenching despair? Where are you my dear?

 

All I have is an old phone number, long forgotten and buried in the depths of my phone. Do I dare look past all the wrongs? Look past all the hurt?

 

Do I make the call?

When inspiration comes it has to be expressed.
