The only ones on that list that were even decently watchable, was maybe Tomb Raider (With Angie),  Mortal Kombat 1 (The sequels sucked), Super Mario Bros, and controversially, Resident Evil. (You either loved or hated those).

The only one on the list that might surpass all of them, or suck worse than all of them, in terms of best video game movie adaptations, is Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.

Problem is that only you and your NPC cohorts actually think the game is today offensive. Most of the rest of us thing it's a cute premise for a good series of video games.  That a game or movie or book showcases that "minority" characters are typically minority is not at all offensive if anything it much more accurately reflects reality then the "whitewashed" characters of minority characters favored the left who seem to think that to accurately reflect a minority group they must either be "whitewashed" versions of liberal whites or stridently independent critics of the majority culture.

I never said I thought it was offensive. I think it's a hilarious video game, which I spent an inordinate amount of time playing. I think that, in general, media should be representative of the society it is based on, and marketed for. Again, I don't see how that's a contraversial statement.

People like experincing media/art in which they see themselves reflected.

"I never said I thought it was offensive."

You said that they were racist in modern terms. Are yoiu now saying that soemthing racist is not necessarily offensive?

I love any reference to Alice's Restaurant. Kill, Kill, Kill!

I said I understood how, in a moderrn context, they could be viewed as racist. I didn't say they were racist, or that they were offensive. It's a productive conversation to have, though, "what can we learn from the past and apply it do today?"

If four people a day walk in - can you believe, 4 people a day, walking in and singing a line from Alice's Restaurant, we'd have ourselves a movement!

How about the entirety of the animated Pokemon movies?

Animated doesn't count.

SD I will give you my top 10 later. I doubt Mario will be on it.

NP. But you gotta admit, compared to Double Dragons, or anything made by Uwe Boll, Mario is a Masterpiece.

1) Resident Evil

2) Hitman

3) Mortal Kombat

4) Tomb Raider

5) Prince of Persia

6) Doom

7) Dead Rising

8. Rampage

9) Super Mario Bros

10) Warcraft

Ok @SinisterDeath that's my top 10.

I guess you were right. I was surprised it made the list but I was also surprised at how few movies there were to choose from. A lot of video game movies are really bad. And not in the so bad it's good way. Just bad.

The worst video game movie I saw semi recently was Assassin's Creed.

Awful movie, don't watch it if you haven't already.

Yea. Video Game movies are probably one of the worst traps you can get into in Hollywood. I don't even think I finished Warcraft. The irony is that Super Mario is so universally hated because it's nothing like the games. But at least it didn't even try to be the game. That's literally the only thing going for it.

Resident Evil? The first 2 or 3 were decent.. But the rest of them are just... Horribad and taint the entire movie franchise.

The first one.

It stuck to its roots as a Zombie Horror (unlike the others which were all action) and told a new story from the familiar perspective of the mansion often calling back to the game such as with the dog scene.

I could have a whole other discussion about the sequels but the first one was the best video game movie ever imo.

Just a note, that's the new Tomb Raider not the one with Angelina.

I haven't seen it.

I just assumed it was another cash grab, and an attempt at casting an actress that looks like the new video game version.

You're probably not wrong but it was alright anyway.

That site also has a little area explaining the context of the rapey vibes of highlighted lyrics.

Within modern contexts, it's rather rapey for a lady to keep saying no with a billion excuses and a guy to keep persisting.

Shrugs

I hate going to retail that play Christmas songs 24/7. When I worked retail, that was tantamount to ear rape. So one less Christmas song? Whatever. At least it's not snoop dog doing jingle bells with actual dogs.

Rapey lirics? Obviously anyone who thinks that has not ever attempted to bed a woman who is being a bit coy.

I guess I'm just better at the bedding process than you. Never had to beg my way into bed, use peer pressure tactics, get them drunk enough, or even forcibly pin them until they comply.

Course, I also never bragged, or gloat about how many notches are on my belt.... I'm going to guess you were/are that kind of guy.

Beggin is a subjective term. 😪 And one that a long married man is more then a little hesitant to knock. 😕

Getting them drunk enough is like the Tango in that it takes two. Have I ever "forcibly pinned" my wife, I have to admit I have. If you think that that is rape then I think that you no very little about how real relations work among adults. Would I have force myself on her ifshe did not eventually become aminable. Of course not, but a physical show of dominance is not of itself an indication of disregardning another's ultimate free will, and if you blievieve differently you are again hopelessly unknowledgeable about real world relationships. As for bragging or glogging or notches on my belt, I was raised to believe that a gentleman should never undermine the honor of a lady and that those who brag about sexual conquests are likely making up for certain unvoiced deficiencies.
