Dexter Season 7

If fans may grow impatient with the repetitive Showtime drama “Dexter,” they can’t fault the quality of the show’s guest serial killers.

The great Ray Stevenson, who spent two glorious seasons on HBO’s “Rome” as the bloodthirsty Titus Pullo, has been cast in the recurring role of a Russian mobster, according to Entertainment Weekly’s James Hibberd.

(Coincidentally, fellow “Rome” vet James Purefoy, who played Marc Antony, has Just been cast as the lead serial killer in an untitled Fox pilot.)

Stevenson follows in the recurring footsteps of John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits, Peter Weller, Julia Stiles, Colin Hanks, and Edward James Olmos.

Away from “Dexter,” Stevenson is one of the growing number of actors to play two Marvel Comics characters in the movies, having portrayed Volstagg in “Thor” and the title character in “Punisher: War Zone.” He’s also in the fast approaching “G.I. Joe” sequel.

The eighth season of “Dexter” will be its last. Spoilers for season seven, launching Sept. 30, lurk in invisotext.

Detective Deb will anguish over learning Dexter is a serial killer, then go out of her way to protect his dark secret.

Huh

I like Dexter but I'm ok with it ending

Would have been ok with it ending in season 7 even

I'm sure MCH and Jennifer Carpenter will be relieved when it's finally over

I was thinking that to, but theres still the wannabe ice-truck killer. (I'm thinking that other guy might... be somehow related to Dex's brother? Or maybe like an adopted brother? dunno but theres definately a connection between them aside from just trying to be a copy cat... Perhaps he was one of the actual original copy cats of the icetruck killer?

They're pretty good if your looking for a light quick read. And after the first 3/4 of the first book they are almost completely different from the show. Basicallly people who die in the show don't always die in the books and vice versa, and the 'cases' are different in the books than than the show.

I think the shows are a touch deeper though, which is not my usual experience in book - show relationships, but they are good fun to just zone out and give your Dexter fix between seasons haha.

one book really does yeah. The other's mention it a lot, but only cause you can't use facial expressions and stuff like they do in the show to give the hint about it. But after that one book where its totally all supernatural they kinda go with that in the books after it, but not as deep. But yeah one book (about 4 or 5 I think) goes into the 'what is it really and how did it get there'. I wasn't a fan of that story to be honest, but it doesn't impact the other books too much if you don't think about it.

Sure it does.

It means Dexter isn't a psychopath, but has a demon in him, remove it, and he becomes normal. which takes all the fun out of the show.

my prediction for the ending.

the underlaying tone in all the seasons have been about Dex's struggle with his Dark Passenger; to be normal and to keep it under control. i think Deb will reject Dex on a base level, and fight enternally with the fact that her father not only knew about this but both accepted and trained Dex. that'll she'll first try to change him, but will end up seeing no other option but to turn him in.

thsi in turn will cause Dex's control over his Dark Passenger to go away; he'll give into the baser needs of his dark passenger and will revert to the monster he's tried to keep himself from turning into and will go on a killing spree.

likely, this will end in either Dex beign killed, either by another SK or by the cops he worked with; or with him in an institution and us veiwing his "story" as told by him to a psychologist.

Nah. You forget about the copy-cat possible relative of Dexter's ice-truck killer brother playing a huge role in this upcoming season.

I do think he's going to try and do what Dexter's brother tried getting dex to do. (kill Debra), all the while piling up evidence after evidence against dexter of new crimes.. Asuming Dexter even noticed this new guy's actions while he's brooding over what to do with Debra. (he might try to play the "my first time" angle... and it.. probably won't work to well... Only thing I can really say for certain... what ever we have guessed now? Is probably going to be wrong.

Wow what a first episode

It took some suspension of belief that Deb would really go along with burning the body but other than that it was great

The whole thing with the puppy actually made me kind of sad

alright, i dont want to use Spoiler tags for this! can we either make a new thread for discussing the episodes or maybe all agree that spoilers will be posted here sicne the season started??

that said. spoilers below

okay so i'm happy with this season so far. first episode, but it feels liek the Deter we all used to love watching. this season seems like its gonna be packed with action.

- LaGaurda possibly re-opening the Bay Harbor Butcher case

- Deb trying to "Cure" Dex

- Game designer dudes unhealthy infatuation with Dex (my guess is on him being a Serial Killer btw)

- Dex is also starting to lose control as well.

first he's sloppy with leaving the slide at the crime scene, then he goes and kills ol boy at the airport *shakes head* not good. and i have a feelign the more Deb confines Dex the more control Dex will lose.

and the female thats returning ... whose she? i thought he went to London and killed the female SK chick o.0

also, focusing on the "this season on Dex" promo at the end. WTF was up with Deb in a tub killd Trinity style 0.0

yep, this season looks like it will redeam the show from last season

I put spoiler tags just because it was the first ep of the season and I dunno who's seen it yet

Will probably do the same for the finale but I agree we probably don't need spoiler tags otherwise since I think it's pretty well understood that you don't go into a topic about season 7 of a show afraid of spoilers or if you haven't seen the latest episode

Does he feel darker to you than the last few seasons?

I was like damn Dex is ready to kill at a moments notice

- LaGaurda possibly re-opening the Bay Harbor Butcher case

This was hinted at in the trailers for the season

Should be interesting

- Deb trying to "Cure" Dex

Eh?

- Game designer dudes unhealthy infatuation with Dex (my guess is on him being a Serial Killer btw)

I have a feeling he's going to be more like an admirer

I don't think he's already a successful killer

and the female thats returning ... whose she? i thought he went to London and killed the female SK chick o.0

Who are you talking about? Batista's uhhh daughter/sister? (I forget which she is)

I didn't watch that lol

Probably a fantasy of either Dexter's or hers

He cancelled all of Dexter's Credit Cards.

Thats not something an Admirer does.

He's got an unhealthy obsession with the icetruck killer. (note the hand he sent dexter)

He seems to know more about dexter and the icetruck killer than he should. (I still think he's related, or possibly like an adopted-brother of the dex's brother... Dunno, hard to say how they'll spin that connection, if they do)

I feel that there is envy and malice between that dude, an Dexter. Also hard to say if he's killed anyone yet.

However, one thing to remember.

The Mob Connection that was made this season.

Lagourda finding Dexter's slide.

Mob getting involved.

Deb

& Dexter has a plot line with all of them, intertwined together.

(really hope, he doesn't try to pin the bayharbor on Deb)

Looks to me, like Dexters going to feel like a steaming pile, thats just been tossed at a fan.
