DRAGONMOUNT

blood on the rocks of shayol ghul

unless i'm mistaken in remembering Luc as Tigraine's brother, than yes, Luc would be his uncle. I meant that Galad was the only one of the three royal children that Rand was related to.

Hmm, I wonder how Rand/Galad would react if Perrin came up and said "Hey, I killed your uncle!"

trust me its realy amateur for the "dragons blood" to mean the dragons blood. Only a 10 year old would right a story saying something is going to happen like this, then actualy have it happen like that. Rj is too good for that.

^ Not really. It's a prophecy. That is the line most dwelled on, because it outlines Rand's purpose, and what will be the culmination (give or take) of the series. Whether or not it is literal, or a mix of this and that, we'll see.

I agree with Narg that the "blood the Rocks" will be something other than totally literal. After all with Nicola's foretelling she says The lion's sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Who know who they are and it would be much easier to have that whole foretelling literal not poetic. I agree with Narg.

P.S. I will agree though that Narg needs spellcheck but leave him alone his sig

Lion sword = Elayne ( Her sigil is the rampant lion)

Dedicated Spear = Aviendha (Aiel Maiden = warrior = spear)

She Who Sees beyond = Min (She sees beyond the person with seeing the aura )

That one is quite obvious.

Min's viewing of Rand in tEotW (Ch. 15, Strangers and Friends) implies that the "blood on the rocks" is pretty literal. Min sees "A sword that isn't a sword, a golden crown of laurel leaves, a beggar's staff, you pouring water on sand, a bloody hand and a white-hot iron, three women standing over a funeral bier with you on it, black rock wet with red blood--". Fast forward to KoD, and Rand has the two wounds in his side, herons and dragons branded onto him, one hand gone (scratch one heron and part of a dragon), Lews Therin raving, Rand convincing himself the he is not insane yet, and so much taint in him that he has a less than stellar prognosis. Semirhage (referencing Graendal) stated that a "true" alternate personality in the head makes it even harder to reunite. The prophecy that he will shed his blood at Shayol Ghul may leave some wiggle room, but the funeral bier is harder to escape. I expect Rand to end up dead. But, hey, remember Hopper and Birgitte; death is not permanent for heroes bound to the wheel, and almost everybody is expecting an eventual rebirth.

The real speculation that I see is in the epilogue. I can see lots of possiblities there.

with the nicola foretelling, it may be obvious but it wasnt literal. it could mean a bunch of things. Elayns sigil is a white thorny blossom clutched by a womans hand isnt it? and Andors is the lion. It could refer to andor, the aiel the third pretty much has to be min. Prophecys are not literaleven mins viewings are not literal. For Perrin she saw a Falcon not Faile and a hawk not Berlain.

and ya who gives a flying fish about my spelling. My sig comes from like the 3rd chapter of the book. Im the first trolloc rand kills. Im gonna spel rong on purpas now too mack yuo angree.

RJ uses so many prophecies, visions, Foretellings, "alternate worlds" and old sayings, they could quite literally fill a book themselves. There's no way to keep track of them all, and no way to know what is literal, and what isn't. Rand, Mat, and Perrin doing all sorts of things somehow related to what is really happening.

I just ignore them, or rather, I use them as "window dressing" - nice to look at, but not the main event.

I haven't read the whole series yet I'm in CoT, but I think that it really is going to be rands blood on the balck rocks. I think this mainly because I belive that he is going to die at the end of the last book. He just not in all that great of a shape(even where I'm at). Seeing as how TG hasn't happened yet, and I've gleened from this post Rand looses a hand, he's only going to get in worse physical condition not to mention his mental state.

I fortetell that rand is toast.

Nicolas foretelling about Elayne Min and Aviendha also mentions Rand...he who is dead yet lives.

I really think Rand is going to die but somehow live on without anything to do with the Horn of Valere. However he pulls this off im sure Alivia is going to be involved in it.

Maybe he'll pull a Lew Therin and become a voice in the head of the next dragon and make him go nuts seeing as how the Dragons all go nuts for some reason or another.

Has anyone considered it might be like with Mat, he died when the Elfin people or what ever hung him from the tree. Rand was able to bring him back to life though. Maybe Rand will really die, becuase of Alvia or what that Sancean girls name is, and come back from the power wielded by Elayne and Avienda, and possibly even Cadusane becuase she does want to teach Rand to live again, doesnt she say that as well as teaching him to laugh and cry?

Prophecies are never literal, they may be obvious but not literal. Nicola's foretelling is obvious but NOT literal. I don't remember the exact foretelling but it uses similarities. the prophecies say the sword that cannot be touched which is a simple meaning, Callandor.

As for the Red on Black I think it means Ishamael and Rand will switch bodies at Shayol Ghul and Ishamael will die in Rand's body. Thus, red blood on black rocks of Shayol Ghul in Min's viewing

I'm not contradicting anyone...but I have neither seen any of Nicola's foretelling in any of the books, nor have I seen where people are getting the idea that Rand and Ishamael switch from. As I said, I'm not contradicting, but where in the books does it say those two things?

ive always seen rand as jesus. somone chosen by the creator to save mankind. since there is soo many refrences to mythology and religion in the series, this idea doesnt seem all that far fetched. jesus was a martyr so i believe rand should be a martyr as well.

the prophesy of rands birth was straight forward and completely literal. 'he will be born on the slopes of dragonmount' well...he was born on the slopes of dragonmount. so why shouldnt his death be equally as literal?

another thought. maybe prophecy follows a parabolic curve. maybe the prophecy of his birth is completely literal, but as his life progresses the prophecy and viewings become more ambiguous to a certian point and then gradually become less ambiguous until his death which is completely literal? he dies on the slopes of shayl ghul, and that then also becomes the new dragonmount...right? if thats the case then that might be the key to completely sealing the bore again.

*shrug*

i havent even finished book four yet why the hell am i commenting on anything? Oh Yea! Thats right! Im an American!

Yeah, I also don't buy that body swapping stuff. I feel that LTT will die because he is the real Dragon (Reborn)and Rand will live on as a "normal" man, who may or may not be able to channel.

Twice dawns the day when his blood is shed.

Once for mourning, once for birth.

Red on black, the Dragons blood stains the rocks of Shayol Ghul.

In the Pit of Doom shall his blood free men from the Shadow.

His blood on the rocks of Shayol Ghul, washing away the Shadow, sacrifice for man's salvation.

meaning That his blood will stain the rocks. Doesn't say how much or which dragon. red on black could mean mat since he is now the prince of ravens by seanchan.

i dunno that this is so obvious. i always thought the lion sword would be gawyn, since he has trained from birth to protect elayne. and there is the possibility that the one who sees beyond is egwene. i honestly don't know one way or the other, just saying there are other possibilities.

You forget Min's viewing of Rand. Two men facing each other' date=' and melding together as one. She said she thinks it means that one of the two will die. One description of the man that was not Rand sounds extremely similar to Lews Therin.[/quote']

Well yeah. I'm surprised more people don't think like this. For our hero to be groovy he needs the crazy person in his head to shut up.

And or Morodin has to go. Both IMO simply because I hate having the primary badass in a book or show have so many handicaps.

The sickness thing and another guy taking control of your body deal are a real drag and I hope at least one is rectified.

It makes me feel like I'm watching the old Greatest American Hero show where the guy gets all the super powers but loses the book that tells him how to use them.

I think that's why I hate Goodkind's work so much. The main character is a war wizard who can't do anything with magic after like 15000 pages.

I tend to agree. The "obvious" answer is only the one which fits what we expect to happen but we have no real basis other than that.

Imo that last can quite easily be Egwene with her dreaming abilities, or even Elaida, who iirc has the fortelling gift.

The Lion's sword I would have thought would be Birgitte. She is Elayne's Warder and has taken (somewhat unexpectedly) to using a sword instead of her bow recently.

Rand knows that he must die. The fox people or the snakes, i forget which, tell him to live he must die. The prophesy also only mentions the Dragon's blood, which hopefully means that Lews Therin takes over and dies. The double dawn I believe refers to strong balefire used after Rand/Lews Therin is dead.

Thats my two cents

Double dawn stand for the fact that Tar Valon's pretty little volcano will eropt covering the sky in darkness, and destroying tar in the process, *shrugs* The tower has to be fallen anyway, and I doubt the seanchen can do it.

red on black doesnt necessarily mean blood. the dragons blood runs through the aiel (or more the other way around but neverthless) i still say that that part of te prophsy was refering to the aiel part of the last battle not rands death.
