"Tune or No Tune" is a simple, weekly thread hosted by the Band of the Red Hand Social Group. All you need to do is decide whether the song I have chosen is a TUNE (i.e. you love it) or a NO TUNE (i.e. you hate it). Quite simple, really!

As is usual for January, the theme is a look back at songs from the previous year, as well as a look at artists who are expected to hit the big time in 2012. And to start with, using the Official Chart Company's top 20 Singles of 2011 as a guide, Changed the Way You Kiss Me by Example was picked and ended up being voted a "No Tune". Next up was Domino by Jessie J, which you decided was a "Tune". This week, I have picked an artist who I haven't heard of yet, but is probably going to have a big year in the world of dance.

That artist is Swedish DJ Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling. The Grammy Award nominated artist had his breakthrough in 2011, where his debut single Seek Bromance reached the top 20 in many European charts. Avicii cites acts like Eric Prydz and Daft Punk as his influences.

The song I have picked is Avicii's current release Levels - his fourth single. The song contains a vocal sample from the 1962 gospel-inspired Something's Got a Hold on Me by Etta James, who passed away last week. In Sweden, the song has topped the charts, and is a top 10 hit in a host of other European countries, including peaking at number 4 in the UK.

Classified as "progressive house" and "electronica", these are genres I like. The upbeat tempo is something I like. As a result, I give Levels by Avicii the vote of TUNE.

For those of you who haven't heard the piece, here is a link to YouTube.

The poll closes in a week's time, which is Monday 30th January 2012. So make sure you vote now before the time for the latest "Tune or No Tune" poll finishes!

Also, if you want to suggest a tune for "Tune or No Tune", do not hesitate to drop me a PM.
