Female Dragon Reborn

Recommended Posts

I inferred from Aringar, that souls are neither male nor female, but rather the lives they inhabit are. That being said, i wonder if there has ever been a female dragon Anyone care to seculate?

I have a hunch that that's a special case (pretty sure Bridgette is always female), because the Dark One Forced the soul into that body. but eh. can't really know.

Souls are reborn as the same gender. Therefore, there was never a female Dragon Reborn.

There may well have been female champions of the light, or female ta'veren.

But no female Dragons.

I would say it is the complete opposite.

We have Aran'gar, who used to be male but got put into a female body. That did not make him start to channel Saidin, which would happen if souls do not have gender as you suggest. He kept channeling Saidar so that mean his soul (or thread) is what is deciding your gender and by that what half of the One Power you channel.

Q: In this same Age, in a different Turning of the Wheel of Time, could it be possible that it wouldn't be Rand's soul that was spun out as the Dragon, but for a different, female soul to take on this role?

Jordan said "Yes" then maybe a few more words and only then did I remember to actually put the recorder on again . . .

RJ: . . . it would have to be. Err, in the differences between the same Age in different turnings of the Wheel, are that.. as for an analogy: imagine two tapestries hanging on a wall, and you look at them from the back of the room to the front of the store. And to look at them, they look identical to you. But as you get closer, you begin to see differences. And if you get close enough, they don't look anything at all alike. That is the difference between the Ages. Between the Age in one Turning and the Age in another. So it's quite possible that someone other than Rand could be the reborn soul of the Dragon Reborn.

Q: It would be the same soul, or it would be a different soul?

RJ: It would be the same soul. That is, that is the belief of the world that I've set up, that it's the same soul. It's a soul of someone bound to the Wheel, which is spun out for the purposes, for the Wheel's purposes really, to attempt to re-balance the Weaving of the Pattern.

But the soul would always be male. Souls don't change gender, so . . .

. . . so the soul of the Dragon Reborn is always going to be male, just as Birgitte's soul is always born as a woman, just as Ameresu's soul . . . is always born as a woman. There are divisions here, and they are not interchangeable.

The problem is that there are female and male halves of the power. It is impossible that the Dragon could be reborne as a female.

Yet there's another quote I've seen paired with this, in which Jordan says that the Dragon is always male, but if the Wheel needed a female dragon, it would weave out _____ (some name I forget), which to me, implies that the Dragon itself is an identity attached to that particular soul, however a female champion is possible depending upon the particular needs of a given turning, which seems to be part of what Jordan was talking about in the quote you gave.

    • Yes but there is opening yourself to channel and then there is a quick unintentional use.  If you notice before Rand became a channeler, fully aware of what he was doing and willing try to embrace the power, all you get are the side effects from channeling (the taking chances etc,,) but not the filth feeling.  After book 1, when the using the power and the side effects happened near the same time, all he gets is the filth.  The difference is he knows he can channel and needs to embrace the source to channel.  Just like the women who are starting to channel never seem to notice the warmth of touching the female half until they survive the side effects and become aware what they are doing.  A wilder like Nyn, had she stayed in the Two Rivers, never would of felt the feeling of opening herself to the source since she had built up a block, so it might have to do with you have to open yourself up to the power to feel the good or bad.     In one of Rand's lives in book 2 I believe he was a member of the Queen's guards and was lucky, he thought later he understood why but he didn't care.  He was suffering from touching the male half but was basicly a wilder and it was never said he was feeling the filth.  So I think a lot has to do with someone who channels but doesn't really know it or is never trained how to do it aren't fully opening themselves up enough to feel the filth or warmth.  They are incapable of doing anything more then a quick touch of the surface.   It's possible Rand would of started to feel nausea when he accidently channeled and not probably not understand why.  But there seems to be a difference between inadvertently channeling and intentionally channeling.

    • The educational system in South Africa is the same as in many countries. I want to talk about what kind of educational system is in America. Kindergartens are not very popular in America. Parents prefer that their children study with their nannies or with them at home. Children go to primary school at 5 years. Children graduate from primary school at 11 or 12 years old. Children who are smart and who study for each class one year, finish school at 11 years old. Children who have difficulties with learning, and who repeat their studies in a certain class, finish school at 12 years old. Children go to secondary school at 11 or 12 years old and children finish high school at 14 or 15 years old. A high school has a duration of 3 years. For graduation from school, a student must write a graduation paper with which the college essay writing service www.paperial.com can help and a student must pass exams which belong to different fields: such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and so on. After a student finishes school, he or she can go to college where he or she will study for 2 years or may go to college or university in which he or she will study for 4 years. In order to enter a college in which students study for two years, or to enter a college or university in which students study for 4 years, a student must pass the entrance exams and have a card in which there are good grades received at school. After graduating from a college or university which obliges a student to study for 4 years - a student can enroll in a magistracy and study there for 2 years. In conclusion, a master can study 3–6 years in order to obtain a doctor’s degree.
