[Advanced/Experimental] Game of Thrones Mafia

Welcome to Westeros. For hundreds of years, the Targaryens had ruled the Seven Kingdoms, welding together fractious Lords under their iron fists, backed by the one weapon no rebel could hope to counter: Dragons.

 

Until the dragons died out, and the Targaryens ruled by force of will and inertia alone.

 

Inevitably, that wasn't enough. It probably wouldn't have been enough even if the last Targaryen king hadn't been mad as a hatter and cruel as a scorned lover. But when Mad King Aerys began burning his subjects alive, and his son interfered with the wrong man's woman, it all came crashing down around them. Desperate to retrieve his love, Lyanna Stark, Lord Robert Baratheon gathered his brothers in arms - chief among them Lyanna's brother, Lord Ned Stark - and raised the flag of rebellion. Westeros was plunged into blood and fire. And with the Targaryen's most powerful potential supporter, Tywin Lannister, standing aside, the rebellion succeeded. The Targaryens were deposed, their family slaughtered to almost the last drop of blood. Babes in arms were killed on their mother's breast, and only three members of the House survived. The ancient, blind Maester Aemon Targaryen, who had abandoned his heritage and Joined the Night's Watch. And Aemon's great nephew and niece, Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen, the last children of the Mad King, escaped into exile across the Narrow Sea. And when Robert consolidated his hold on the Seven Kingdoms by marrying Cersei Lannister, Tywin Lannister's daughter, the smallfolk thought peace had arrived at last.

 

And for nearly twenty years, they were right.

 

But now, the Realm is learning what it means to be without the unifying force of the Targaryens. One rebellious lord having successfully seized the crown, others are eying it for themselves. And as the intrigues mount, the two houses King Robert needs the most - House Stark and House Lannister - are at each others' throats, at the worst possible time. Because Across the narrow see, Viserys has died a brutal death, but Daenerys' star is rising. And some in the Seven Kingdoms will do anything in their power to aid it in doing so.

 

And the smallfolk, and the lords caught in the middle? Until it's settled, they'll do as they always do.

There are 4 alignments and win conditions in this game:

 

1) Stark House and Bannermen

2) Lannister House and Bannermen

3) Targaryen Cult

4) Survivor.

 

The Stark House and Bannermen will win when all of the Lannister House and Bannermen, and all Cultists, are dead. The Lannister House and Bannermen will win when the Stark House and Bannermen, and all Cultists, are dead.

 

Survivors can win with either the Starks or the Lannisters, so long as they are alive at endgame. And survivors have the option of joining either the Stark or Lannister faction.

 

And if the Cult wins, everyone else loses.

 

As you can see, there's (almost) no real town in this game. To the Starks, they (along with the Survivors) are the town, and the Lannisters the mafia, with House Stark as a large mason group. To the Lannisters, the Starks are the mafia. And everyone wants the cult dead.

 

Buckle up. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

1. You MAY reveal your character name. Each of the Starks, the Lannisters and the Targaryens will be given the name of an unaligned player not otherwise in the game to reveal as, though.

2. Absolutely NO out-of-thread communications may be either entirely or partially quoted, screen-capped or in any other way directly provided within the game thread (summaries of PMs for purposes of role reveals is allowed, however).

 

3. If I think you are employing tactics that are outside the spirit of the game, I will modkill you.

 

4. I am not going to set daytime deadlines now. As long as the game is moving forward, I'll let you play. If you make me, deadlines will be posted. Night actions must be submitted within 24 hours of the day-ending scene (48 hours if that includes weekend time)

 

5. We will be running a normal mafia format with lynches during the day and night actions during the night. Deadlines will be announced daily.

 

6. Bicker as you normally would in JN mafia, just keep it pg-13. And don't cross the line with overly-personal emo BS. When in doubt, refer to rule 14.

 

7. Night actions will occur instantly, unless otherwise specified. This means that two people night-killing each other will both die (unless one is saved somehow) . Any action not submitted by the deadline will be forfeit for that phase and I will only accept the first action submitted. Once you send in your action, that’s it! (No take backs!) Night will stay open until its deadline, or all actions are received.

 

8. Communication: You are not allowed to communicate about this game to anyone outside this game thread, unless specifically authorized.

 

9. If you cannot maintain a decent level of participation, subject to my take on the situation, I will find a replacement.

 

10. If you are DEAD, don't post in the game thread.

 

11. You cannot edit your posts.

 

12. Quoting the Mod/Revealing Mod Pics: You may not quote anything I say in PM. You can’t game the mod. You can’t talk about what I said or may have said in my PM’s. Play your own game.
