What will Egwene do at FOM?

Recommended Posts

The point of the thread is how is Egwene going to stop Rand from breaking the seals. I can almost bet that she will do something stupid and it will not be a hissy fit like some are claiming here. Min's viewing said that Rand will be hurt by AS atleast twice...I am guessing that the second time the AS turn on him will be at FoM.

good. any tool even the lord dragon who plans on smashing the seals without any end plan deserves to be turned upon.

people always like to say that LTT was the arrogant one. Actually it is the simpleminded 2.0 current verision who is the arrogant one. I mean what did he expect when he strolled into tarvalon. That the AS would simply nod and agree just because he's the dragon?

At least the last age dragon discussed his plan with the women if it was a flawed plan. The current simpleton version hasnt got any and yet he's willing to open the bore again. The same bore that thousands of male Aes sedai gave their lives for to seal it. Brilliant. Just brilliant

Egwene's critics won't be satisfied until she and all the Aes Sedai grovel at Rand's feet. Wouldn't that make a great story? After all, Rand is the Dragon Reborn...the Champion of the Light...the last hope for humanity against the Dark One. He can do whatever he wants because, after all, he has prophecy on his side. It doesn't matter that, just a few hours before his meeting with Egwene, he nearly destroyed the pattern. Besides, as the Dragon, it was His prerogative to do so. Rand's arrogance, his manipulation of friends and allies, his mistakes and crimes...well, He is excused of these things because He is the Dragon Reborn. If he's leading humanity off a cliff with his half-baked plan to break the seals, everyone else should just get in line and follow. And in any case...give him a break! Can't you see the incredible strain he's under? How would you act under that awesome weight of responsibility? If he balefires a few palaces and/or family members, well, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. And if he assures Egwene and the Hall that he's better now that he's taken the time to ponder an elementary philosophical question, they should just take him at his word.

Come to think of it, a messianic leader who subverted long-standing institutions in his rise to power, whose conquests, atrocities, and demands for obedience were all justified on account of him being the Chosen One, and who had to take "firm measures" to deal with a haughty and overprivileged class of traitors that opposed him at every turn....It seems like I've heard that story before......

Well firstly, when Lews Therin was First Amongst the Servants he didn't have to worry about being kidnapped by women, tortured by them and locked in a bloody box. Secondly Rand is not going to open the Bore. He's going to remove the Seal. There's a big different. You don't keep a plaster on a cut when you try to stitch it do you?

Egwene is going to eat crow one way or the other...I only hope and pray that she tries to kidnap the dragon and gets blasted by him.

Yup..a lot more important than a group of self important women who get trashed by everyone throughout the series. The AS are not equal tot he Dragon..they are an inferior organization.

yeah egwene was going to kidnap him in WT whilst rand discussed his plans. Another elaida eh?

and yes rand is going to open the bore. Once those seals are smashed the bore will opened. And it will start tarmon gaidon.

we all agree the seals have to smashed before the prison can healed as it was before lanfear drilled through. The problem here is LTT 2.0 wants to open the bore without any sort of plan at all. You have to question? what's the rush?

As bad as the trollocs swarming the borderlands currently, once those seals are smashed and the bore is open, it becomes an open season territory and all hell will break loose

Elan, exactly what type of plan is he supposed to have? Have you ever tried to fix anything you couldn't see? you can gather a few general tools (which rand has, power-items, armies, channelers, etc.) but then you HAVE to get a look at the thing. In some cases that means moving whatever's in the way, even if that thing is keeping it all together. If you have a problem, you have to analyze it before you start work on it. How would you plant a field you've never been to? Would a SWAT team try to rescue a hostage from a building they don't know the layout of?

As for "what would you do?" questions, i think those are legitimate. Where did Rand start to go bad to you, and what would you have done differently, if under the same stress and circumstances?

save your hopes for something else, coz that's not happening

Puny Egwene facing off against the vastly more powerful dragon who can turn her into ash just by thinking about it...for her sake she better trick him somehow because in a one on one battle what is remaining of Egwene will fit into an envelope.

xxx, im thinking in a one-on-one, egwene does just fine for herself. She doesn't win, doesn't even og on the offensive much, but does survive, and that's what counts.

She survives if Rand does not decide to kill her...their respective powers are not even in the same planet.

If someone says he's going to break open a patch that is holding an evil deity without giving an sort of explanation you would rightly stop them from doing so.

But hey keep following the path of lord dragon.

Either he knows what he plans to do when he smashes the seals in which case he's being purposely antagonistic and crass

or

you don't have to keep repeating yourself everytime. We get it. Like i said, save your hopes for something else, coz your hopes and dreams will not happen. No one will be turned to ash no matter how much you wish it. Infact i would go far as to say, that egwene will be around long after AMOL is finished whereas the lord dragon will vanish into retirement home once tarmon gaidon is done

Funny...calm down kill crazies, do we really want Egwene (faults and all)to die?......Ok some do but AnYwaysle. Rand is still not perfect (don't think RJ would do that after trying so hard to make a flawed/realist hero)but he probable has a plan. In the series he seems to concoct plans quite readily and usually ends up needing help from AS or others for things to work out. The meeting at the FOM will probable be the resolution/alliance that will be crucial for victory in the Last Battle. Or it could be the twist, making division between them and repeating history while we the readers scream for them to band together and making the LB seem hopeless. Remember Egwene and Rand are not perfect hero's and that's what makes this meeting/confrontation so interesting is that the outcome is not set in stone. Unpredictable = FUN!

             :

One way or the other I think Egwene is going to die..and Logain is going to take command of a combined organization of channelers.

Why should he explain himself to her when he does not to the other monarchs..he leads the last battle. Egwene is his follower like the other Randlander Monarchs..so she has to follow. Of course she thinks she is above the rest which is sadly not true.

They will both sit down and argue their cases. No matter how good Rands arguments are for breaking the seals Egwnene will oppose him, not because of arrogance or stupidity, but due to the compulsion Aran'gar(sp) placed upon Egwnene(after all that is the only thing the Forsaken seem able to do) Egwene will b compelled to oppose the Dragon on everything. The AS, who have been dragged into Rands ta'veren whirlpool, will have to decide whether to go with DR or stick with their newly appointed Amyrlin. Division caused early in the book. News of the attacks on the different cities(i refuse to believe that Caemlyn is the only 1 being attacked) will filter thru, different armies will go to different locations with nothing agreed upon for certain.

then later in the book..... Nynaeve and an Asha'man will find some super way to heal compulsion, by linking, that restores the victim to full sanity, because we can't have 1 of the super girls being permanently incapacitated.

I'm still not sold on Eqwene's Compulsion, especially to oppose Rand, she seems annoyed at his actions in the last few books but not quite intense enough to be from Compulsion. Since the shadow did want Egwene to be the rebel leader it is possible that Arangar's Compulsion was to make her totally convinced that she was the Amyrilyn no matter what (as we see her not waver in her captivity in the tower.) But Arangar doesn't give anything away about what she did to Egwene. (not that I've seen). Or about her being turned to the shadow, which is doubtful with the POV we have seen from her. Thoughts?

This is nuts. Why is it so hard to believe she just doesn't have any reason to think Rand is correct? And what does the DO gain by keeping the seals whole? Do you think the DO is scared to be free?
