Why are the Aes Sedai so poor in battle?

Women do not equal Aes Sedai..they are one foolish faction of channeelers..led by a moron who Rand plays like a flute. Why one earth will he trust her.

He is trying to save the world not the Aes Sedai. If the Dragon had a choice between saving the world and making the AS Seachan Damane..he will choose to save the world. Will Egwene make the same choice?

Moir was like the most hurtful name on his list of women, which included other Aes Sedai as well. You're obviously blinded by your Aes Sedai hate. He sees them as women even if you don't.

I love how getting Egwene to do 1 thing is "played" like a flute. As if a flute has 1 note on it. Something that he could probably have gotten her to do had he simply asked. Egwene has no reason not to show up at FoM and no reason to bring whatever support she can whether he tells her he's going to break the seals or not. She obviously wants to be at the LB.

They were on the list because they were women not because they were Aes Sedai...

You say that Egwene would have just done if he asked..but obviously Rand did not think so which he why he manipulated her.Egwene considers herself the equal of the Dragon hence her insistence on "guiding" him. She and the Aes Sedai's job is to "help" him a decidedly secondary position than one of "guidance". The Amyrlin is a secondary character to the Dragon, they are not equals something Egwene because of her delusions does not recognize.

An important point in ToM is when Dylin tells Elayne(another delusional fool like Egwene) that the people of Cairhien will accept Rand as their leader who conquered them but not her as she is not the Dragon reborn. Someone needs to tell Egwene that too.

Maybe going off on a tangent here? The original argument: Tower-trained AS are weaker in battle compared to damane and AM. This has nothing to do with trust, Rand, Egwene, etc.

She'd do BOTH. The options are NOT always mutually exclusive, you know...

What if they are?..

But they AREN'T. At least, not in this situation.

Well, AS aren't combat channelers.

WT AS really have no clue how to channel against a military organization. How would a full AS be any better than a focused novice of the same strength? They have to go out into the world and find some shadowspawn, darkfriends, false dragons to smash up to get some experience.

Plenty of AS are in the top tier of non-main character channelers. Cads, Moir, Verin, etc are all comparable to people like Damer, Narishma, Alivia, etc.

Damane and Ashaman shouldn't be compared to AS, windfinders, WO. The former are soldiers and the latter are civilians.

Dreadlords are all going to come from all walks too. There are going to be talented ones such as the transporter during the ambush on the whitecloaks, the ones that bombed the walls of Maradon (the Ashaman didn't think them particularly powerful), and Taim's cronies. There are also going to be plenty of eager wilders that happen to be darkfriends that are hardly able to shoot a couple fireballs or throw a brick with the OP.

The non-martial AS have their place with healing, making gateways, etc. So far, dreadlords (that aren't Black Ajah or darkfriend Ashaman) have shown incredible skill and tactical expertise in military matters rather than straightforward combat with the OP.

Kind of an aside, but the Dreadlords seem pretty bad so far. One (possibly an FO) brought in trollocs through a portal stone on the Jehnnah road and the group fighting Italrude. Perrin smashed the Jehennah road trollocs, and the group fighting Italrude was only winning because of numbers. It was even hinted that the wolf-faced trollocs (or "Minds") were the actual planners.

Because your average channeler does ONE thing. Aes SEdai throw fireballs, Asha'man will roll fire or make you explode (depending on if they're fighting a group or a single person). This is a limitation of their strength and how long they want to channel for, and how tired they're willing to be when they're done. Your average channeler is not a game breaker by any means.

And if you're offensive enough you may even keep them on the defensive so they aren't free to devastate your own guys.

Unless you have enough terangreal to shield your men what you are suggesting is "throw more men at them", not a sound tactical solution.

Channelers have the upper hand in any combat situation against non-channelers unless other substantial factors are involved, like TOTAL surprise , forkroot (think was it's name) etc.

Even engaging them in melee is not all that effective since the can and will hurl you back.

Actually that's the worst thing to do vs AS. In KoD, Galad purposely told his men that if they faced an AS, to drop their weapons and walk away.

Right, but I was talking channelers in general. Obviously everyone except the AS are not bound by such oaths. Though I suppose some Wise Ones may avoid hitting women if they aren't armed...

And it may not be a great solution, but it's one of the few you've got. Also I'd suggest archers more than a stupid charge forward, I said be offensive, not retarded. Force some of the channelers to shield themselves. If the channelers are spread out they'll all need their own shields. Then you already have them splitting things two ways. Which will already start to drain an average channeler pretty significantly. We're not talking about fighting the forsaken or Rand al'Thors here.
