BotRH Music Project - populate our Spotify account with playlists

For those of you who have been around a while, I have a Spotify account for the Band of the Red Hand. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs.

 

Now I know there are restrictions, but not in the UK - and our account is UK based since that is where I live. I know in the past we have had Banders from the US log in via my account once they have downloaded the application to install on your machine. However, I believe that only one person can use it at a time. If more do so, the newcomer kicks the current user out.

 

It has a nice feature that allows you to create playlists. We have some, including:

 

- individual Banders' playlists

- a "Tune or No Tune" playlist

- a playlist for the thread that shows DMers' favourite songs

 

I think some of these playlists are quite out of date. The project would be for a group of Banders to get together and get this up to date. I don't know if there is a limit on the number of playlists for an account, but it would be nice to get playlists together for all our "It's A Knockout" contests and "Original vs. Cover", and update our "Tune or No Tune" playlist.

 

It is also possible to publish these playlists, which is something I would like to do on DM. I would also tweet about them on the Band's Twitter account.

 

For those that take part, there will be promotion points, and the awarding of a Band award for your work and time.

We could have a "It's a Knockout" thread where we use Band-generated Spotify playlists and each person can submit only one.

Nothing wrong with that. There are also individual playlists as well. Lots of options!

As far as I am aware, the playlist length is unlimited. Though I haven't really investigated.

I just realized that I've created 5 playlists on Spotify. Either I need to chill out, or others need to start making some.

maybe I should re-download spotify.....and this might be the wrong thread but Last.fm is telling me I'm going to have to buy a subscription after the first 30 songs I listen to. Is this happening to anyone else? Or is just me because I jumped seas?

It happened to me when I was in Italy, but I haven't used it since I've been home. I paid 2 or 3 bucks for a month while I was over there.

As far as I am aware, last.fm is free in the UK, USA and Germany. Outside of these places, you have to pay after the first 30 songs.

 

I don't believe you have to pay for Spotify, no matter which country you are in.
