don't smoke, exercise regularly and for god's sake wear a condom. That's just about all you can do, most of the other stuff is gene based (you know like having a family history of disease X - diabetes/ high cholesterol for me)

there are female condoms, I think they call them femdoms, maybe, I think the design is something like a plastic bag for the inside of a vagina, doesn't really seem too... I don't know, easy to apply.
