Rand and his half brother

I was reading the other day and realized that Galad and Rand are brothers. I know it's only half brothers but I still find it interesting. I don't know why I never realized it before. Is this news to anyone or am I a day late and a dollar short.

What is the furthest you read? And how many times through this series?

I have read all of the books but only one time through. I realized that Rand and Galad were brothers while reading the companion book. I know that it won't have any impact on the books but I found it really interesting.

By "all the books" you mean Eye of World through Towers of Midnight and the prequel?

companion book, is that World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time?

Yeah, Rand figures this out when he is questioning one of the Andoran nobles to make sure he is not related to Elayne. Additional fun info - The Luc portion of Slayer is Tigraine's (Rand and Galad's mom) brother and thus their uncle (the Isam portion is cousin to Lan).
