I think this sounds like an awesome idea for a film

Swiss filmmaker Ben Hibon is set to direct "Pan", a gritty contemporary adaptation of J.M. Barrie's classic "Peter Pan" tale for Social Capital Films and Energy Entertainment reports Variety.

In this incarnation, Captain Hook is a burned out ex-police detective trying to track down a kidnapper whom witnesses describe as being childlike.

Hibon, who directed the animated shadow sequence explaining the legend behind the titular objects in this past weekend's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One", helms from a script by Ben Magid.

The script was previously picked up back in 2006 by New Line and at one time had Guillermo del Toro attached to direct. Shooting aims to kick off next Fall in Europe.

Guillermo del Toro would be such a sweet director
