Wow, I've seen some lists in my time around DM but this....impressive and depressing at the same timetongue.gif

Mat wouldn't mind hooking up with Lini (he never does with any woman that is before the marriage of course).

Mat is by far most quotable guy (or anything to do with Mat). There is a very good quote from ToM but I'm not going to say it as it might be a spoiler (though I don't think it is; still, will not anger the gods of admin biggrin.gif)

I don't know who the most quotable character is, but one al'Lan Mandragoran once said something that I think is one of the greatest quotes of all time:

"There is one rule, above all others, for being a man. Whatever comes, face it on your feet." Lan in The Great Hunt before Rand meets Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin at the time.

For thoughts, it has to be Nynaeve, for their general hilariousness. "Men always seemed to think violence could solve anything. If she had had a stout stick, she would have thumped all three of them about the shoulders until they saw reason."

Mat's probably tops for actual quotations, though.

  • 1 month later...

The Sorilea quote from the Wheel of Time Wiki is pretty awesome:

“In my day, girls jumped when a Wise One said jump, and continued jumping until they were told to stop. As I am still alive, it is still my day. Need I make myself clearer?”

—Sorilea

Yes! Always cracks me up.

Mat, Rand and Lan have some utterly outstanding lines. Bashere gets one or two good ones as well.

Some of my favourite ones in general are;

"You can't bloody have her!"

"Kneel to the Lord Dragon, or you will be knelt."

"I have seen a tough man break when I sent for a basket of figs and some mice."

"One pretty woman means fun at the dance. Two pretty women mean trouble in the house. Three pretty women mean run for the hills."

"Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit into Sightblinder’s eye on the Last Day."

"In the last, lorn fight

'gainst the fall of long night,

the mountains stand guard,

and the dead shall be ward,

for the grave is no bar to my call"

"Always leave a way out, unless you really want to find out how hard a man can fight when he’s nothing to lose"

There's just so many great quotable lines but I'd have to agree that in terms of who has the highest percentage of quotable dialogue must be Lan.

I agree with you all. But the people who are nmost quoted by other characters in the books are Lan, Lini, Mat and Siuan. I love Siuan's quotes the most, not only because she's among my fav characters, but also because her sayings are catchy. And true. I myself find myselfs swearing Fishguts and the like. (In my mum's opinion it's a change for the better. She gives me weird looks but is secretly pleased I use them instead of other swearwords lol!)

Haha, I just remember a Siuan quote I used as a comeback to Dad once. It had him flabbergasted lol, he reads the books too but didn't expect that one hahaha!!!!

"Men always only think with the hair on their chests."
