I am WOT reader from Washington, DC. I was given the Eye of the World as a birthday gift from a friend when I was in high school (way back in the early 90s). It was a bit too derivative of other fantasy works for my taste, but I enjoyed it enough to give book two a try several years later. Boy, am I glad that I did. The Great Hunt completely rocked my world and from then on, I was hooked. There have been moments when I've lost faith. After slogging through Crossroads of Twilight I was so disappointed that I considered never reading another WoT book again. Fortunately, RJ was able to step things up a bit, and Brandon Sanderson, imo, has done a fantastic job keeping everything zipping toward a rip-roaring conclusion (fingers crossed for Towers of Midnight).

Favorite WoT books - 1) The Great Hunt, 2) The Gathering Storm, 3) Lord of Chaos, 4) The Fires of Heaven, 5) The Shadow Rising. My favorite characters tend to be the women - Nynaeve, Moiraine, Min, Avienda, Verin, and Lanfear. I also liked Egwene much more when she became Amyrlin and especially when she was imprisoned. For the men, I tend to like them in certain story arcs. Perrin when he returned to the Two Rivers, Rand when he became the Cara'can, Matt in Ebou Dar.

I don't really know anyone else who reads WoT so I'm looking forward to delving into this site and joining the conversation!

Well welcome to DM I felt the same way about not knowing anyone else who reads Wot. You will feel welcomed here. You will learn and get lots of different view points about the series. I have learned some things I never thought about it in conversations on the forum haha.

Hello DC! I'm either Froggy or Nekkid, it's very nice to meet you here.

I had to force my friend to read the series and other than that I have a sister to talk to about the books. I don't envy your position of not having anyone to talk to about the books but I guess now you have us all. I hope you hop right into the board discussions and feel free to sign up for the social groups and role playing ect ect. I'm always here to chat and answer questions,

Welcome DC-Reader! I find it unusual that you didn't like Eye of the World, but I guess different strokes for different folks, eh? Be sure to explore around Dragonmount and have fun!

P.S. - My favorite book is Shadow Rising.

Awesome, another Great Hunt lover. That was the book that really cemented WoT for me as well.
