Yes, Lanfear was the raptor. She's too cold to be a mammal. Plus, Aunt Pol would only maim, destroy or kill you if you harmed someone she cared about. That makes her the warmer, more nurturing of the two. Thus, Pol is the cat. :D

 

And Owayn, anything that complicated has to be fun... I mean, it had to tie into subtle mental and auditory cues and had to produce a very specific physical response. I would be surprised if Sammael had also tied a ward around his messenger to alert him to the results. That many layers of interesting techniques... fun!
