DM 8.0!! (HUGELY IMPORTANT! READ PLEASE! NOW! LIKE, NOOOWWW!!!)

Anyway, hello there! If you don’t know what DM 8.0 stands for… well you haven’t been at this site long enough. Basically, every now and then, Jason and the other Admin people come together and decide the site needs an overhaul. In light of the recent down times and such like and mad people turning up at their doorsteps in the middle of the night screaming “Murder!!” and “We want DM back!!” and Facebook groups going, “DM IS DOWN AGAIN???”, Jason and the other Admin type people have decided to go ahead and do a major overhaul.

 

Here’s the official word from Kathana. (Whom, if you don’t know, is someone you SHOULD get to know. Soon. Like, now.)

 

Unless someone gives us a very compelling reason to move it back, Tuesday, Aug, 10 will be the LAST day that anything posted on the site will be preserved. Everything posted up until that point will be preserved and transferred to the new site. Everything afterward? Not so much.

 

What's getting moved? Your forum accounts, user registrations, signatures, PM boxes, forum posts, etc.

 

Will these forums stay online during the transfer? Why yes they will! You will still be able to post to your little hearts content here. It just won't be transferred to the new site.

 

When will DM 8.0 be online? It'll be sometime between Aug. 29 and Sept. 2. When we know the exact date, we'll tell you. There are a number of factors coming together, but our hard deadline is that everything will be up and running by DragonCon.

Now, there is no need for panic or all around mayhem. It’s just a quick note for you to be prepared. Save your posts, have alternateive entertainment sources other than DM (I know, I know, WHAT could replace DM right?) and hide under your blanket shivering in fear and panic. Or have a chocolate bar. Whatever keeps you going.

 

AND BE PREPARED TO BE AMAZED.

Actually, you WON'T need an alternate entertainment source.  Although it is true that nothing written after August 10th will be automatically transfered, the key word there is automatically.  These boards will persist for a while after DM 8 goes live, so you'll still be able to just copy/paste anything your wrote.  You know ... do it yourself.  :D

Tsk, tsk, tsk... Arath, my darling, darling, innocent, naive Arath... if you believe this huge transfer and stuff will not result in a single second of down time... well... I'm just saying it'd be quite miraculous if it didn't. Trust me, be safe than sorry. HAHAHA.

 

I'm gonna find alternative sources of LIFE. Like maybe... I don't know... some free pr0n site or something.
