This arguement is almost as old as the old chicken and egg arguement. Let's reverse engineer this problem by ruling out likely suspects. It definitely wasnt ME. So who else DIDNT kill Asmodean??

Well, I must confess to killing that lame ass bard. I just hated him. You know, I'm this very cool and mighty bully DF, and he was cramping my style. It's enough that I have to cope with being "False" and all.

 

So, that's why RJ's always telling you Light-kissers to RAFO. In the last paragraph of the last book (who knows how many turnings of the wheel away that is...), before ending with "the wheel of time turns...", there'll be a '"I killed Asmodean", said Mazrim', almost a subliminal thing, like in "The Fight Club".

Well, though there's no "clear" or RJ-approved answer to this ones, it's not that difficult to make reasonable assumptions. Lanfear: he had outlived his usefulness as teacher to Rand (teach him, but not too much!); Graendal & Other FS: he had betrayed "the cause" and was now in bed with Rand... and a million other theories, depending on whom you think did it...
