So the voting is underway and the preliminary counts show some familiar names.  Who do you think will flesh out the NL/AL rivalry game?

Current Rankings as of today.

AL rankings                        Closest Competitor

1st - Mark Texiera/NYY 396xxx      Justin Morneau/MIN 258xxx

2nd - Robinson Cano/NYY 490xxx    Dustin Pedroia/BOS 279xxx

3rd - Evan Longoria/TB 541xxx      Alex Rodriguez/NYY 411xxx

SS - Derek Jeter/NYY 639xxx        Elvis Andrus/TEX 239xxx

Cat - Joe Mauer/MIN 644xxx        Jorge Posada/NYY 287xxx

DH - Vladimir Guerrero/TEX 374xxx  Hideki Matsui/LAA 298xxx

Out - Ichiro Suzuki/SEA 366xxx    Josh Hamilton/TEX 265xxx

    - Carl Crawford/TB 319xxx      Curtis Granderson/NYY 264xxx

    - Nelson Cruz/TEX 307xxx

I see some heavy favoring towards the Yankees, most likely due to both their current success, and their giant mmarket fan base.  I'm not certain that is the best way to go about voting in a game that counts.  If it is just a showcase then popularity wins, but under the current format, more thought should go into things.

I am not sold on Cano over Pedroia, and I think a shake up in the Outfield might happen, but this may be pretty much the lineup come gameday.  Vlad has the DH locked as long as he keeps scorching the ball.

NL Predictions                  Closest Competitor

1st - Albert Pujols/STL 647xxx      Ryan Howard/PHI 329xxx

2nd - Chase Utley/PHI 687xxx        Rickie Weeks/MIL 169xxx

3rd - Placido Polanco/PHI 309xxx    David Wright/NYM 236xxx

SS -  Jimmy Rollins/PHI 340xxx      Hanley Ramirez/FLA 309xxx

Cat - Yadier Molina/STL 316xxx      Carlos Ruiz/PHI 259xxx

DH -

Out - Ryan Braun/MIL 423xxx        Andre Ethier/LAD 316xxx

    - Jayson Werth/PHI 365xxx      Matt Holliday/STL 309xxx

    - Shane Victorino/PHI 348xxx

Man, again with the 'oh they are winning, they must be the best players mentality comes out.  At 1st, well Albert is Albert, and Utley is probably the best man for the job at 2nd.  But Rollins has played only 12 games thus far, and is likely leading due to Ramirez' antics.  Polanco is a good player, but I don't see him holding out over Wright.  Molina is not a lock, but good lord, the man throws out almost 60% of base stealers.  I'm not sure about Werth....I can see Victorino having a spot, but I think there are better candidates out there.

So who's got an opinion on the balloting thus far?

I was at the Padres game, and picked up a ballot. I agree with you Samurai-thus far, the voting is based on first place teams and/or those in the wild-card hunt.  It's interesting that the AL DH spot is between Vlad and the guy who replaced him on the Angels, Matsui.  I think Pedroia will take over 2B for Cano.
