Anyone else going to be watching/listening?

 

David Lloyd (Bumble from the commentating) seems to think its pretty much anyones to take away, particularly from the top Eight teams. The group stage kicks off Friday but warm up matches are already being played.

 

Who do you fancy? Both in terms of countries but also in a dream XI playing. And anyone bold enough to have a guess at individual match results?

I will be following as much as I can, but I am not the greatest fan of "smash and crash" cricket. Give me the County Championship and Test cricket any day!

 

Twenty20 cricket is all about momentum. So the winner will be the team that gets that right at the key moment, which is probably after the super 6 or 8 stage and into the semi-finals.

 

England won't win!

England beat South Africa in a warm up!?!?!? A bit of a shock, I must say...but we have to thank an Irishman for the win. And I see England's South African top 3 all failed...can we start a petition to get Pietersen dropped? Seriously, he is a liability to the team...

Heh definitely for dropping Pieterson.

 

Missed most of last nights match, but cannot believe D/L went down that way. Clearly unsuited for t20.

 

Ireland tonight, but possibility of more rain. Hoping England can at least make the Super 8's. Looks like all the nonTest nations are pretty much going out according to plan though.

 

Also, i have a sneaky suspicion New Zealand will do pretty well. Have qualified now so wouldn't surprise me if they hit the semi's

Ireland need 47 from 33 balls. And I am worried, especially if Niall O'Brien gets going...

More rain. Reckon they'll abandon it now and England will go through on run rate.

 

Shame for Ireland, but if you compare England's loss to Messrs. Duckworth and Lewis to Ireland's total batting collapse, i think we could probably say the better team went through.

And by topping the group we should avoid Australia til the final as well.

 

Uhoh. Dangerous strands of optimism. Having supported England for a while, you'd think they'd been stamped out.

It looks like that way as Australia are crushing the West Indies.

 

And it has taken us some time to crack Twenty20 Cricket at the International stage, considering we invented the damn game! lol!

Very promising atm against Sri Lanka. Yardy and Swann bowling very economically and top four batsmen gone.

And we need 129 to win. Very, very doable. I just hope Lumb and Kieswetter play sensible to start off with, allowing the middle order to wrap it up for us.

Good to see two Hampshire players at the crease! :) Even if Michael Lumb wants to get himself run out! lol!

Final is this afternoon. So pysched.

 

Honestly think the Aussies have a better chance, considering their amazing semiFinal, but did look like they were coming apart at the edges. England are consistent (for once) but hardly explosive and i think that could be the difference in this.

 

We'll know in 6 hours or so, either way

Best start to the week EVER!

 

Have had "We are the Champions" running through my head ever since. Wasn't entirely sober when the whole thing ended, which added to the fun
