Riel rode into the Yard as he was told to do, looking for the stables so he can get off of Stars back, he found himself staring at the surrondings. The Few Aes'sedai that were out and about this early in the morning barly gave him a pasing glance, a few noded but most paied little attention to the obvious new Trainee.

Standing in his sturrups he looked around and finnally found the satables off to the side a little. after Star was all whiped down and feeding lazily he wandered out side and looked around...

Visar was awake early and down in the yards as was typical.  Having already warmed up with his long sword, Visar was moving through some solo drills with his lance when he noticed an unfamiliar young man over by the stables, looking a bit out of place.  Pausing, Visar observed him for a moment.  He looked to be about the same height as he, and by his narrow eyes and prominent looking nose Visar would hazard a  guess that the man was Saldaean or from thereabouts.  Though he had often been wrong about what nationalities people were.  It was rather hard to tell most of the time.

I swear we should put up bloody arrow signs for new trainees or something... Visar thought to himself.  No one else seemed to make a move to help the young man, so it was up to him now, wasn't it.  Shouldering his long spear, Visar walked calmly over to where he was standing.

"Morning.  Finding everything ok?" he asked, trying to start off being polite.  If the man was a new trainee no doubt he would say so and ask what to do.  Or perhaps he was just a particular absent minded one that Visar had hit on the head too hard some time before.  Though wouldn't He remember that even if the trainee didn't?

The Man that came up to him was caring a lance across his shoulder, normaly Riel would have thought that he looked funny, But this young man had an air around him that just seemed dangerous.

"Morning.  Finding everything ok?" Riel couldnt help but grin at the question, not even here a minute and he was marked as a Newbee. Any other response would have been arogant so he shook his head. "I was told to put my horse in the stable and someone would meet me here," Riel unconsiously touched the hilt of his sword and went on talking. "Looks as if they were right."

"I was told to put my horse in the stable and someone would meet me here.  Looks as if they were right"

Visar frowned slightly, annoyed that the trainee was being vague. Was he new or not?  He had to have been; Visar would not have stood for an indirect answer otherwise, and he was not Thera's go-to man to get trainees situated.  Or was he...?

Visar grunted, not particularly pleased or impressed.  He would see to the trainee for now.  But just because he did it once didn't mean that he was supposed to do it all the time.  Visar leaned his lance against the fence separating the training yard from the rest of the courtyard.  He would be back for it later.

"You may call me Visar Gaidin.  You have a name, lad?" he asked, getting the pleasantries out of the way.

"I can get you situated well enough until you talk to Mistress Thera.  Get your things and come with me," he snapped, fully expecting the boy to obey.  Visar waited in case the young man had left anything by his horse, and once he was ready, Visar wheeled around and walked swiftly towards the barracks.  Once inside, Visar asked around for an empty bed and found one after a bit of a search.

"Alright, you'll stay in here for now." he said without further ceremony.  "Next I'll show you where a few other things are and you can go sign up with Mistress Thera.  Or you can start practicing in the yards if you like."

Visar only gave Riel a moment to deposit his things before he motioned the boy to follow again.  The trainee should already knew where the stable, the yards, and the barracks were now; now all he needed to know was where the mess hall and bath house were, and he would be set for the time being.

"Any questions so far, trainee?" Visar asked before they went on their way.

  • 1 month later...

Sandre was doing inspections on the trainee barracks when Visar came around with the trainee. The Trainees stood at the foot of their beds at attention as him and some other guards checked everything. He frowned at the thought that no one would take the time to assist a trainee and a Gaidin had to do it. He also did not like the idea of a trainee not independent enough to ask for directions. Though he knew part of the job was finding where new trainees needed work. Sandre stepped into the hallway when they passed and walked through rushing trainees to catch up. Trainees knew better than to touch guards. Guards had to assume that any uninvited touch was a preemptive attack.

Visar was asking if he had any questions by the time Sandre caught up. "Was he so afraid that he needed a Warder to show him everything was ok?" Sandre hated being an ass, but it was part of the process to weed out the weak and help them grow a tougher skin. When he had a few months here the trainers would be a little nicer. For those months though.... he was likely to get the same treatment any time he was out of class and sometimes in class. Visar knew the drill, on a better day there would be a few more trainers there yelling at the new recruit all at once. "I am Guardsman Kaldun. I will be one of your trainers should you decide to stick around. I hope you enjoyed your stroll because its your last. Trainees sprint to their destinations with the exception of in the presence of an Aes Sedai, in the mess hall, or after a work out. Remember that, keep your room spotless, and never miss a meal and I will not make your life harder than it has to be." Sandre turned towards Visar. It was almost impossible not to grin at the professional charade the two had to do for the trainees sake considering what the two of them had been through together. "My apologies Gaidin that you had to be disturbed. Shall I send the gate guards and this trainee to you later for punishment?"

The impression given, he hoped the trainee got the idea that the next few years of his life would be hell. Sandre was waiting to see if he would answer Visar's question, if he didnt... well the punishment would begin as soon as he left Thera's presence.
