Sitting around a campfire, wind blowing through the tree’s….gathered under blankets, a flashlight the only illumination…then suddenly:

[glow=red,2,300]BOO![/glow]

*laugh*  Who hasn’t enjoyed a good scare from a Ghost Story?   This year the Literature Department is focusing on Ghost Stories!  Lead by our very own Professor Taei, she will be exploring, with all of you, what makes a good Ghost Story, telling a few of her own, asking you to help write one..and to share your favorites!

All you need for this class is your bravery and maybe a friend to hold on to!  Have fun!

*walks into the room, her skirts swirling, walks to the board and double checks the chalk before writing her name on the board with as many screeches as possible*

*turns to the class with a smile*

Welcome to the Literature Department! I am your substitute teacher, Professor Lor! As I'm sure most of you know, I love writing! Anything I can do to talk about it or make it fun to do for other people is always a big plus in my book! :)

So, let's get this class started with a little discussion, shall we? Part of the writing process is brainstorming (or planning for those not in elementary school!). So, our first assignment is to brainstorm a list of adjectives that describe a good ghost story. The more varied answers we have, the easier this will be so... think BIG!

Next, we'll be discussing how to write a ghost story with these adjectives in mind! :)

Sorry all for the late appearance. Good thing I don't have to actually talk, since my voice is gone atm, but everyone please take a seat!

The best thing about a good ghost story is the element of surprise. Whether it's how something is done, when it is done, or who it is done to. The Eeek! moment is always the one that catches you unawares. You can read a whole book that has a creepy feel underlining it and not be scared by it, but let something pop out at you from an unexpected corner of a room screaming and it will send shivers down your spine every time. Many scary movies have become so cliche that they're no longer scary. We already know what's going to happen when they go upstairs and ominous music starts to play. However, if they're suddenly jumped while sitting still and on the phone in the middle of their couch and there's no music intro, we're scared half to death!

As for this thread. I'm going to first off let you all run with your own scary story. Each person is allowed to add one sentence to the story. Please try and keep the story line flowing and remember the PG-13 sign, it might smack you in the forehead if you don't. At the end of the month I will put the story together for all to see. I will also be adding my own ghost stories, some of which are factual while some are fiction, can you decide which is which?
