EotW: Favorite moment and least favourite moment

OK! I'm planning to do one of these for each of the books, just to see what you other fans especially like about each book, and what you don't like.

Not many rules in the thread, just try to keep it to one passage, situation or even one liner, that you like best, when you think back on the book.

Sounds fun? I'll start us off!

Favourite moment:

When Rand tumbles into the gardens in Caemlyn and is presented to the Queen, and they find out he's wearing a heron marked blade. I've always loved that passage!

Least favourite moment:

At the Eye, when Moiraine attacks Aginor and she's able to "hold him" or whatever. We all know the ease, Rand dealt with Alanna and Verin in LoC. I know she had an angreal, but I'm still not hot about that.

I like Perrin in EotW, and I like the part when he meets Elyas and the whole Wolfbrother thing comes about. And Im probably more glad that Elyas is in it later than I am about any other lesser major character. Its like he still has a part to play.

I cant stand how easily both Aginor and Balthamel fall. They appear together, you get the impression that theyre guna work together, but noooo. The invincible Forsaken were definitely too vincible in that encounter for my liking, they let the team down.

I loooved how the Nym dying was impersonated by Robert.

My favorite moment is from the moment Rand sees Logain till Galad and Gawyn arrive. That's the beggar and the first time Elayne.

My least favorite is Aginor's death.

Favorite: When Mat says, "I wonder what Dav did with that badger."  Hilarious.

Least Favorite:  How horrified Rand was when he finds out Egwene can channel.  If he loved her as much as he claimed, he shouldn't have had such a fit about it.  In fact, when Egwene finds out HE can channel, she is a lot more accepting.

Fave: The whole Play for your supper sequence of chapters. Rand and Mat alone on the road felt more desperate to me than Frodo and Co ever did. Every time they turned around something happened. I've always thought that bonded them in a way that they don't share with Perrin, but that's just me. Also, the scenes with Perrin, Egwene, and Elyas running from hill to hill avoiding the birds was very suspenseful and well done I thought.

Least: Rand saying "No!" as he realizes he's channeling during the final fight of the book. If you listen to the audiobooks the guy does a good job in expressing Rand's emotions at this part. At this point Rand knows, and he doesn't want it. It's a little harder these days to feel as much sympathy as he really deserves, but right here I really feel for the guy.

I'm with Matsluck. That whole bit with Mat and Rand is brilliant. In fact that's my favourite part of any of the books. From the awesome bit where Tom gets ''killed' while they flee to when Moiraine finds them.

My least favourite bit was Aram talking all his Way of the Leaf nonsense, I wanted Perrin to push him harder and found it unsatisfying that he backed off, considering how obviously correct he was.

Theojol, that's probably because they're talking of tEotW, and not the entire series.

I also love the scene when Rand is revealed to have a heron-mark blade in Morgase's presence.

My least favorite scenes are with Mordeth. He's just creepy beyond words.

Read this for the second time recently (right after finishing KoD :) )

Fave: Mat and Rand travelling to Caemlyn. Probably my favourite part in the whole series, I'd been waiting to reread that part for months.

Least fave: Probably the parts with the Tinkers and co. Wasn't too keen on those, but apart from that I love most of the book.

My favorite part is definitely when Moiraine breaks through the Ways when they're being chased--so cool.

My least favorite is probably the beginning in Emond's Field (after the prologue) -- just because when trying to re-read it--I'm like...blah blah blah, let's get going...haha.  I liked it the first time round, though.

im with kadere..the prologue to EotW was mindblowing the first time i read it...at a bookstore because someone told me they wanted to be a author because of these books that had really lame covers so  id always passed them by...just goes to show what they say about books & covers....

the whole scene with rand falling into the garden till he gets escorted out runs a very close second

there really isnt much i dislike about the first book, maybe the scene with the forsaken at the end was a little weak...but i still kinda liked it

This is a tough question. There is so much to like about EotW.

Favorite moment: I really just love the whole playing for the supper bit. I always like to see how far Rand and Mat have come from that. Just love how naive Rand was. Also Moiraine telling the story of Manetheren is a great in the series. There are many classic moments in EoTW. Hard to pick.

Least favorite: The encounter with Aginor and Balthamel was a disappointment.

Too many to name. My favorites would be the prologue, Mats plot with the dagger, and when Aginor and Balthamel first turn up. Not any further than when the actions starts though, they might as well just kill themselves, they die that easily.

Mats sparring session against Gawyn and Galad cheeses me off. Two of the best swordsmen about being beaten by an ill man with a staff is fine, but when the two swordsmen are defeated within three swings of that staff, you start wondering how bad the average swordsmen are.

I like the Whitecloaks.
