I am on the 4th book The Shadow Rising of my 3rd re-read of the series and was curious about something, im not sure if this has been discussed here before or not but was interested if anyone had idea's about it.

In Chapter 6 "doorways" Egwene and Nynaeve are interrogating 2 black sisters in the Stone of Tear when Moiraine and Elanye enter and Elayne is upset at finding out Berelaine has been in Rands bedchamber and feels guilty because she thinks Egwene and he are promised to each other.

Moiraine intervenes and tells Egwene she cant be with rand and Egwene assures Elayne she only loves Rand as a friend/brother.

After this Egwene asks Moiraine if she has ever been in love and after a moment Moiraine replies with:

"I could wager i know the face of the man i will marry better than either of you knows that of your future husband."

Moiraine makes it clear its not Lan but says no more on it except that the girls should not "read too much into it".

Who is the man Moiraine knows she will marry?

Most has decided it's Thom.

Given that IF she survives TG, she would be destined to live a very long time, and given that Thom is already older than she is, it seems unlikely but not impossible that it's him.

Not necessarily. Thom had a nephew who could channel. Since channeling is genetic, it's possible Thom is one of those who could be taught to channel. If so, he could live for quite a while, too.

It's probably Thom. There has been some foreshadowing of Thom's feelings about her and he will be among those rescueing her from the Finns.

Whether it's him or not, she knows her husband, because she learned that from either the twisted doorways (most probable) or her Accepted test.

egwene dreamed

Mat throwing dice with blood streaming down his face, the wide brim of his hat pulled low so she could not see his wound, while Thom Merrilin put his hand into a fire to draw out the small blue stone that now dangled on Moiraine's forehead.

and

mat placing his own left eye on a balance scale

The Aelfinn said this to him when he demanded more answers

[...]To give up half the light of the world to save the world![...]

Min forsaw Mat putting an eye on a balance scale

personally i think that Mat and Thom will be going to save Moiraine and mat will be making a deal with the Eelfinn to get her back...trade an eye for her life? dunno but i am excited to read about it :D

I believe its Thom also, because of the pulling the blue stone from the fire. And IIRC, Moirane said something to Thom about "the next time I see you", or somthing like that.  Then there's Thom's POV that Moiranne is a fine woman etc. This also presupposes that Moiranne likes men.

I have read another theory that Moiranne does not wed anybody. And when she's talking to the wondergirls, she says that statement as a metaphor that she's more mature, and knows what she wants in a man, more than the wondergirls. Hence, the reason, for "don't read too much into it", line. I'm not sure about this theory, cause by then all the wondergirls have latched onto their guys, or know the men they will be with.

When I read the quote from Moiraine about knowing the face of the man she would marry, I was confused. And I had assumed, later, this was from one of the ter'angreal episodes about which we have not been told.

But fikkie, was there a passage involving Min having a viewing of Moiraine? Is it inferred anywhere? Or is this perhaps a good guess?

Moiraine's husband I think will be Thom.

Both surviving Tarmon Gaidon I think is certain; though the marriage would probably be before, right after her rescue.

Min's viewing about Moiraine I think is Moiraine's & Thom's wedding.  Moiraine infers to it when she and the Two Rivers folk goes through the Ways.

Must have been from the accepted test because she speaks of knowing her husbands face before ever entering the red doorframe ter'angreal.

I will be willing to bet anything that Min saw it, and told Moiraine. After all, we know that Min is 100% reliable in these matters, and that she has met both of them together in Baerlon.

Yes. Min says the only Viewings she has had that have failed were related to Moiraine.

Related in this instance does not necessarily mean "of".  Although, she certainly has had viewings of Moiraine.  There are always auras flickering around all AS capable of touching the source.  I don't recall her ever referring to any viewing of Moiraine except in one case.

And, that was most likely a viewing of Rand.  He would fail without a woman who was dead and gone.

If that viewing had been about Moiraine, it wouldn't have shown or even implied her death, since she has not died, and seems destined to be rescued and return.

in crown of swords Min mentions that the only veiwing that she had that ever failed was one about Moiraine...she doesnt mention what it was though

First the accepted test can't be her source for knowing her future husband (if she even knows). The test do not show the future and even if it did the Aes Sedai don't use it as a foretelling tool.

Secondly even though most(?) thinks her statement refers to Thom, I would like to think that she merely pointed out that they share an ignorance.

We just know what Moiraine said to the girls, I'm naming some possibilities for her knowing this. Min's viewings are one. We know Min has viewings and we know Moiraine kept on asking her what she's seen.

Yes. Min says the only Viewings she has had that have failed were related to Moiraine.

Min used the singular form, not the plural form; which means just one viewing failed.

You really need to read KOD.

She hasn't failed, she just thinks she failed. She's referring to a viewing that she had about Moiraine in the future, yet she also believes Moiraine is dead and therefore Moiraine can never fulfill that viewing. Hence, her assumed failure.

She also said Moiraine was a Viewing, not that she had had a Viewing or Viewings about Moiraine. Being pedantic about her word choice is not very helpful in this instance.

Let us not forget that of all the Aes Sedai, Moiraine is arguably the most proficient at wordsmithing.  She didn't say she knew, she said she could wager that she knew better than they did.  I'm inclined to believe that it's something she saw in her test for Accepted.  The rings don't necessarily show the future, but perhaps a possible or alternate future.

If Moiraine got the information from only her Accepted test, I doubt she would be as confident in the scene.  And she likely forgot the Accepted test by the time of the scene; doubtfully the scenes before would have sparked the memory.

The information being from Min's Viewing would be more likely.

When Min meets Rand for the first time in Baerlon, she says that she can see whether a man and a woman are going to marry even if they've never talked to each other..

And Rand has just seen her talking to Moiraine...

Maybe she saw something about her and Thom and talk about it to Moiraine..
