We know that 'Tarmon Gaidon' means 'Last Battle', but just 'Last Battle' seems a partial meaning.

This thread is to decide the whole meaning.

Voted Undecided since I am not certain at this point.

 

But 'with the Shadow' and/or 'with any shadow' I think could be ruled out since the Pattern seems to need a balance between good & evil in order to remain.

For certain its the last battle of the age, however, the result will determine the events in the fourth age.  Will the Dark One survive, be imprisoned again, or finally be destroyed?  Yes, there does seem to be a balance between the forces of light and shadow or at least there is suppose to be a balance.  After reading the series, I have my doubts ... people are dying at such a high rate that I'd be surprised if there was anyone left besides the main characters to fight in the last battle.  I guess things will balance out before the last battle or else they will need Mat's luck to pull them out of the fire  ::)

      Because our species seems to be on the fast track to killing not only each other but every other living thing, I know I would be foolish to hope for a Last Battle to be a Last Battle. What I chose is defeat of The Shadow, and no battles for several generations. It's stupid to even consider that all of the darkfriends will either be eliminated or surrender to the forces of the light, but maybe they get thier (part of anatomy) kicked hard enough that they need to go into hiding for awhile before they can show their ugly faces again.

 

      Great to hope for but that's all it is. :'(
