Looking for a certain anime...

*the door falls shut*

Hello, my good people, my good ladies *bows ever so deeply*, my good gentlemen *nods*

I was looking for some certain...anime...that I once saw on- MTV -of all things.

Already tried to do a "specific" google search looking for the one character I remembered of that series:

Kamui.

Plot was quite very nice, really, if simple and very, say, esoteric: "Normal" people get chosen for a struggle of the continuation or elimination of mankind, either for the greater good of the planet or so that our "species" might continue to exist. Telekinetic moves and flying around without wings included, for the combatants.

And yes, the battle-field was Tokyo only, really.

Even was made into a movie. Although that movie reduced the "destroyer"-side of things too much to maniacs running amok. As I think. Still cool characters.

The "movie" still has a right to exist, as I see it. Has a "message" of its own.

Why am I surprised to see that on MTV, then?

Well, the message was deep. Very deep. Unusually deep for MTV, in my eyes.

Does not lessen its beauty that it was shown there, though.

Hope you know what I mean by this, and can help me out. *nods nods*

Looking forward to any replies- be it for calling me "emo", "nuts" or just general agreement.

Cheers. *gulps down the concoction, and returns to the shadow*

EDIT: As always...Mods, if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it to where it's appropriate. ;)

Is it X?  An anime series based on Clamp's Manga series?

It is.

Damned beautiful, really.

I am still baffled that a channel such as MTV does show that.

I'll either put up another post on that question or edit this post later on. Need to be gone for now.

Cheers.

EDIT: Here comes the edit....

X is not exactly the only "anime" I'd call almost too thoughtful and deep when compared to MTV's other programs...alright, in the case of X I could understand that it has "value to the mass-market", to put it that way, as it indirectly deals with the dawn of the new millennium. Which has come and gone by, without any stellar rock crashing in, infrastructure turning to vapor or whatever.

Is there any sort of "FAQ" on MTV's side on this? Where they answer why for the love of all things good they are able to show good taste by showing stuff like that?

On a side-note, am I maybe too much of a "MTV-hater"? Do I do them injustice to wonder that they can have this in their schedule together with certain...other...things?

I'll leave it at that. :D

I only watched the first minute or so of each just then, but it looks pretty spot on :P

I'm guessing the movie is the one that you would have seen. But I can't say for sure.

Either way its good to see another Anime fan over at the BT :P

In fact, I've watched both the movie back in the day as well as, at least partially, the series.

I can't say I'm a fan of all anime, really.

The "original" of Hellsing seems too, uhm, off to me, simply. Certain animes with pornographic content and an emphasis on "show *beep* or gtfo" turn me off as well. In general. There might have been the odd one here and there of that sort that I actually liked to some extent. Even if they were overtly silly.

I need to get an anime-collection first anyhow, to call meself a true, full-blown "anime-fan". :D

Just figured out quite recently how much I do like some of them. ^^
