In the prologue of EOTW, when Ishamael enters the room Lews Therin says " Ah! a guest, do you have the Voice stranger? it will soon be time for the Singing, and here all are welcome to take part". i dont know if anyone's talked about this yet but could that be related to the Song that the traveling people are seeking? if so then maybe Rand is the key to them finding the song though lews therins memories or something.maybe? please correct me if i'm way off cause its been on my mind for a while

This has been discussed quite bit, alot of people think Perrin will be the key.

I don't know myself Will, but it's something that really interests me also. I love most forms of music and anything with a song mentioned is interesting to me. Good Thread! I wish I could've helped more.

I think that they are searching for is the one the original Aiel sang to hold the insane channeler in place while the rest of the city escaped. I think that was in one of rand's memories from his trip to the Aiel Waste. That would mean that all the other Aiel chiefs would have the song as well, though since Aiel adults never sing, it's never used. Ironic since the Tuatha'an believe that it's unlikely that the Aiel would have the song.

The Aiel song did not actually hold Jaric Mondoran in place.  The Aiel were distracting him with a random song and dance (perhaps multiple songs), and he spent the time killing them off bit by bit while the citizens of Tzora escaped.  Also, the Aiel chiefs would not necessarily know the Song just from going through the columns in Rhuidean, since your experience differs by your ancestors.  And of course it all depends on what the Song is.  There was a particular Song of Growing that the Nym, Aiel, and Ogier sang in harmony to increase plant growth.  However, the Tinkers believe that the Song they find will bring back the Age of Legends, which this particular Song will not.  In fact, I think the Tinker search is more of a search for their roots than for a particular song.

This has been discussed in depth earlier, using the Search finction is quite helpful.

It is extremely unlikely that the Song the tinkers are looking for is an actual song, it is rather a symbol for what they have lost, and it takes the form of a song because singing was an important part of the AOL, and the memory of what was has been distorted along the way.

I think the Song Of Growing would be very helpful to "bringing back the AoL." Disease and insects do not effect a crap grown from those fields.  Their is a guarantee of a bountiful harvest and the food grown probably wouldn't be effected by the DO's touch.

This would not realy follow how the books have been written, the AOL was the 2nd age, as far as we know the ages do not repeat that fast.  I beleive there are what 7 ages?  After the series ends it will be the fourth age, Rand will have to seal the bore like it was never bored into, or the chosen one will at some point in the 4th age.  By the time the 2nd age starts, no one should remember there was a Dark One.  So, my guess is by the 5th age people will not be able to channel at all, Ogier, Trollocs and fades will all have to fade from memory. That is how the wheel turns.

Now if Ishy was right, this could be the last time this battle happens, however Herid Fel seems to not buy into that, and I would say he is less likely to lie than Ishy.

Of course we have no idea if each age is 3000 years long, could be longer or shorter.  But since some Gleeman have glimpse of our current world, you can bet that from age 4 to 2 age to is going to have to be quite along time for all these memorys to fade. I am not sure where the mirror of our world falls into the pattern, but i am guessing age 7 or 1.  people would have had to start channeling in age 1 is my beleif, so i think we are in age 7.
