Questions about DF close to Rand

I can't for the life of me remember where it was stated, but I recall reading it just the other day searching for quotes, that Moridin (I think) had spies with the Salidar sisters, the white town, and one very close to Rand. Does anyoen remember where that quote was around? which book for reference.

I am assuming Salidar is the forsaken with Egewene, and mesena in the white tower, but we as of yet haven't been told who is with Rand. Are there any hints?

Second question. A site lists Min as definitely not being a DF, however I can't recall anything that would directly stop her from being one. Her PoVs are more set around making sure Rand is safe rather than worrying about the shadow from what I remember. Am I forgetting something major that would rule her out? I figure with her childhood she might of been a candidate simply because of how others treated her. Knowing when people would die and what not had to of led to a painful childhood.

Small note: I don't think Min is a DF, but would love something more concrete than just cause she loves the Dragon (So does Lanfear after all). And no one is closer to rand in the later books than Min, which it seemed to indicate in the quote was what Moridin was alluding to (someone Rand trusted and was close to... unless I am reading too much into the line). At some points she is the only one with him.

Min is researching closing the bore (or at least reading the books). Thats probably enough to exclude her as a DF =)

She, Elayne and Aviendha are all tied Rand.  She can't be a darkfriend.  One darkfriend close to rand is Elza, she was compelled by Verin so she thinks Rand must survive till TG evern before Moridin issues his No Kill order.  There is a possibility to that Bashere is a DF.  That theory has to do with the something dark in his future and some other things which I can't remember right now.

In Book 11, Rand mentions that he will die and the world can do as it wished after TG, at least twice in the book. Min was extremely annoyed with him on both occasions-clearly illustrating that she does not want Rand to die at TG( or at any other time eiher). Without Rand's death it is unlikely that the DO can win. It logically follows that she is not a DF.

Though I'm quite sure that we do not need to delve so far. It seems quite impossible. ;)

I wouldn't say 'researching closing the bore.' She is more like, reading for fun because she finds those books interesting. Obviously, we as readers know that she is most likely to uncover something important regarding the DO's prison and give it to Rand but she is not reading those books for that purpose.

Moridin could be refering to Taim  as the DF close to Rand, though I think Taim is more closely tied to Demandred than to Moridin.

I'm not 100% convinced that Cadsuane isn't Black Ajah.  I really don't think that she is but I see no reason why she couldn't be.   Does anyone know of anything that absolutly rules her out.

Actually if he doesn't die the light can't win. Also the forsaken are trying to keep him alive at the present moment. For the light to win he must die; that was one of this 3 questions.

Thats why I was looking for the quote. I think it is before Elza is with Rand. Being tied to Rand doesn't mean she can't be a DF though, and we can't see any viewing of Min because she can't read her own future.

Like I said I seriously doubt she is a DF, but for my own piece of mind I was wondering if there was somethign more concrete. Her motivations so far have been to get to Rand and stay by his side no matter what.

I can't remember now which book it was in, but Cadsuane thinks about how she almost exposed the Black Ajah, only to have them slip through her fingers. I would say that is conclusive proof that she's not BA / Darkfriend.

Osan'gar, among others. I reckon Rand has had Dqarkfriends near him for a very long time, he just doesnt know it.

They are everywhere. There are Darkfriends with Mat and Perrin as well.

Yup, that would do it.  Thanks.

Ah!!!

The never ending suspicion!!

Let's just declare all the AS as black and finish them off. Randland may be better off.

If I'm left wondering whether any particular sister is BA or not at the end of AMOL, I'm going to tear my hair out and run screaming down the stairs.

I am NOT going to sit through the rest of my life wondering whether this particular AS whom I really liked against all odds is or is not secretly utterly evil...

God, people, it's just a series, not your life! It's ok to wonder who is a DF and who isn't. In fact, that is something that I like to do, but don't turn this into a necessity. You don't have to brainstorm on who might be a DF, or not all the time.

Maybe Cockta, but I really like some AS in the story who may be DFs. I don't want to be left wondering whether or not this person is evil or not!!! Especially not after waiting for ages for the last book!

Then pray that the answers will come in the last book, and not just sit there and think about who might be DF.

???

I thought the whole point of these boards was to have debates over these types of topics.  Perhaps I am mistaken...

Why do people here have to be so picky? I didn't mean that people should just think of everything else, and not bother about the series. It's just good to have these kinds of debates, but I don't think it is healthy to overdo it.

Well the prepare to be remembered as "The Bald Screamer" because I seriously doubt that AMOL will contain a list of every DF and every BA member.  Realistically, it would be highly unlikely that every single darkfriend and black ajah AS in the world will be exposed.  Even after the bore is sealed I suspect that the DO will still have followers in the world who are dedicated to freeing him once again.  Thus, the Black Ajah will probably still exist when the series ends.

That is something that will annoy the heck out of me.

Maybe a systematic extermination of all the DF and BA in the world would do good? I mean, the forsaken would have to start from scratch when it comes to finding new DF. In fact, the extermination would make the job a lot easier for the next Dragon Reborn, but I am probably wrong.

And how would you go about this?  This is the very point Leopoled Boothe is making: it's impossible.  You don't know who the Darkfriends are, so you can't exterminate them.  And how would you know when you were done?  The Darkfriends may slowly die out, but that will take ages.  Though by the Age of Legends, it is 99% certain there are none left, since it's a utopia and no one remembers the Dark One.

Actually, there is a group in Randland who has attempted something like this, they are called "The Children of the Light."  Perhaps you've heard of them.  I think they demonstrate all the reasons why such a systemic extermination would not work.  As for the Forsaken I think the biggest problem facing them in the fourth age is that they will all be dead.

I actually think all the black ajah will be exposed.

During the last battle, the black ajah will not stay in the white tower dealing with their petty inter ajah feuds and plotting intrigue secretly behind tapestries.  The DARK ONE will need his new dreadlords and possibly new chosen and where do you think he will recruit these dreadlords from???

Killing all DF's would be nice but this story is supposed to feel as real as possible.  In the real world victory is never that simple, example the Nazi's, the allies utterly triumphed over them but we didn't catch every Nazi, some went into hiding or fled, others sank back into society.  It will not be that simple, this is not Harry Potter where all deatheaters are killed or captured and everyone is happy.  The aftermath of war is untidy.

Oathrod.
Could get rid of the BA, but would be useless against Darkfirends in general.

I would say the advantages of having BA moving in secret, behind the scenes, would outweigh the advantages of having all of them move openly.
