A few reminders to members:

Points are updated as I have time to do it. I do not visit DM on the weekends, as I have a kid and a husband and a house and rl stuff that can't be avoided any more than 5 days in a row. :P

 

You may think you know how many points you have, but if they don't show up on the staff board, then you don't really have that many points. Points must be posted on the staff board before they are actually counted, and that takes as long as the person handing out points feels like posting them. Believe it or not, I do not go perusing through all the threads on this board, point hunting. And sometimes people will give you points, and you don't even know it, and that is a pleasant suprise for some of you.

 

Second, you have to have actually accumulated points in order to be placed up on the memberslist. I don't just sit on the server all day and add people as soon as they make the required post. We have no way of knowing just how long you are sticking around, so you have to "earn" your spot on that memberslist. So if you don't see your name on there right away (or even in a couple weeks), it doesn't mean you aren't a member, it just means the points you may have accumulated have not yet shown up on the staff boards. It can be as long as a month before your name shows up, if you do not accumulate a lot of points right away. How often I update the memberslist directly coincides with how many points are being given out. When members aren't giving out many points, you are going to be waiting a little longer before I update it. When people are giving out lots of points often, I'll be right on top of it, because I can appreciate that some people are close to promotions.

 

DO NOT:

Send me private messages with links to people giving you points. They will be ignored. The ONLY points I ever add to that page are the points that are posted on the staff boards. Period. So if you think there is a discrepancy, you are welcome to pm me about it NICELY, but chances are, you've either tallied wrong, or someone who gave you points didn't post it on the staff board. In that case, go hound them. That's not my job.

 

Third,

The stats are not extra points you've earned, but a cumulation of points you've earned through the month total. So when you see the monthly statistics posted, don't get all hyped about receiving MORE points, those are just so members can see who is earning points in that previous month, and how many.

 

Fourth,

Don't obsess about points. Like I said, you will earn points for things that you do not even realize. People will have points to blow at the end of the month and just start handing them out, and you'll never know about it. I understand that there are people out there whose whole purpose in their SG life is to get points, but that is not going to make me update the page faster, or spur the senior members to post points any faster. Actually, it will probably have the opposite effect, and since we are all evil--giving us any indication of weakness will only make your life more frustrating in the end. *cackles*

If you do it on a Friday, don't expect an answer until Monday, because I do not visit DM during the weekends. I am however, on DM every weekday (barring sick people in my house ><), so that is the best time to catch me. :)
