Michael was waiting in the yard, he would have a new class to train today, that however could mean anything from a single student to a group. He looked to the sky on this early morning as always clouded and dim. Footsteps could be heard, but Michael waited untouched or so seemed to, untill he was sure indeed he had the whole class as it would stand this time infront of him. "You must be my new class, names?" after the answers he continued, "Very well, from now on forget all you know of your former life, you start over today and when you are done with training you will be a Dreadlord." He let the boys have a moment to let the information sink in.

"Now lets sit down" he walked over to a patch of grass, the one power made it able to live here, he was never the one to walk around things, so he went straigth on to the lecture "Close your eyes and form a flame to the inner side of your mind, feed all emotions into it, let it be the only thing in focus in your mind. It is important that you remember to stay calm and in control, saidin is like a furious storm, you must bend it to your will or else it will cary you away." He waited a litle, "Now if you are at an emotionless stage you should be able to sence saidin howering outside that calmness, try to seize it and hold it, do not draw on it just let a litle of it trickle in, but hold the rest back." He waited already ready to interfear and shield any student if need be.

Asrid walked in the dreary daylight that didnt seem that it could ever support life. He was in a hurry to get to a lesson that he wasnt to sure he wanted to be at.

he found himself standing before a man bearly shorter than himself, But had a presence that said other wise. '"You must be my new class, names?"' "Ostindel, Asrid Ostindel, sir."

'"Very well, from now on forget all you know of your former life, you start over today and when you are done with training you will be a Dreadlord."' Asrid didnt think that was going to be very hard to forget his past, the only thing he couldnt leave behind was the burn scar that covered his left side, which he now covered much of it under his heavy black cloak. Only from his shoulder to his jaw showed.

The second part was going to be the most difficult of the two. Having just learned that he could touch the one power, and that he was to learn how to control it, was just a little overwhelming.

'"Now lets sit down"' Asrid followed the man to a small patch of grass, '"Close your eyes and form a flame to the inner side of your mind, feed all emotions into it, let it be the only thing in focus in your mind."' That part was easy, he had learned to bring the void on when his father taught him to use his knives. Putting his mind at ease he let the void close all thoughts off from his mind, leaving only his teachers voice sounding like a distant hum, bearly understandable. He saw himself enclosed like a steel wall, impenitrable by nothing but his own exictance.

'"It is important that you remember to stay calm and in control, saidin is like a furious storm, you must bend it to your will or else it will cary you away."' Panic brushed across the edge of his awarness, but he ignored it. this was his life now and he was going to learn every thing he could about the one power even if it killed him. The only thing that he worryed about, was that it very well could.

'"Now if you are at an emotionless stage you should be able to sence saidin howering outside that calmness, try to seize it and hold it, do not draw on it just let a litle of it trickle in, but hold the rest back."'

Asrid let his sences drift to the wall, and he could feel the the power just on the outside buffiting his steel wall, do as he was told he reached for it, meaning to take as little as he could. As soon as he touched it his insides seemed to want to be his outsides, The power struggling to consume him, He felt as if he would be swept away in a molten river. Stuggling to get ahold of it he faught for what seemed years, The void quivered but held, despratly he realized if he couldnt get ahold of it now he wasnt going to walk away from this experiance.

He took hold of the power surging through him, pushing it back, his life depended on this, and he was slowly gaining control. finally he held it off and was able to hold it at bay, there to call but not flowing any more. what seemed years, was only seconds after he pulled on the power. he was dreanched in his sweat and his cloak was sodden from the struggle, there was a ringing in his ears. looking to his teacher he waited sillently, wasting no effort, it took all he had to keep hold of the raging river.

Michael studied his student, and was pleased when he finaly could hold saidin. "By now you felt the taint, if you live through the training then the great lord will grant you protection from it. For now though lets practise leting go activly and not just loosing it. Push it away and let go then grasp it again." Now that the man knew how to get hold of it it was so important that he learned to control himself, less he did something alone that would cost him his abilities or even his life.

"The reason I do make you do this is because if you loose control to saidin it can be question what would be the kinder faith, a mere burn out or death." He looked at the other man, "We dont go around shielding the students, if you do not have self control then one will not survive training, you need a clear mind as much as anything in the shadow. I would advice you against trying to handle the one power without beeing fresh and clear of mind, able to focus, unless you are with a teacher, for now anyway. However i do expect you to practise on this till the next lesson, practise grasping, holding and leting go of saidin till it become as second nature, and we will meet again here in a weeks time, asuming you are still alive." He rose and dismissed his student.

_________

A week was up and he was awaiting his student patiently, by reports the man had survived, there where no place for fools or the weekhearted in the ranks of the dreadlords as such the week passed had been his first test to the acolyte. A test of willpower, and a mind who was clever enough to listen to reason and controll itself.

"Well then," this time he apeared more friendly towards the man, "as it seems you will be staying at least for now, let me introduce myself." Extending a hand, "I'm Michael, lets go sit down and i will tell you a litle more."

Seteling on the same patch of grass as last week he started explaining of the one power, and the elements, as well as the futher perils of the one power and history. After an hour and a half with theory he moved on to the practical part of the lesson. "Now as i said there is 5 elements, fire.." he channeled red, green, yellow, blue and white strands as he spoke to illustrate. "..earth, air, water and spirit, each have a faint color but more then anything you should be able to feel almost taste who is who." He waited for a nod.

"Okey now grasp saidin, it by now should give you no problems, then i want you to try and copy me." Slower this time he pulled on saidar and ever so slow separated the treads one at the time and leting go of one tread before taking another. As well giving time between each to allow his student to copy what he did. When he was sure his student got it down he grasped two treads and spun them around eachother into a spiral, then let go and did two others. "This is what i want you to use as practise untill next week, make spirals, make them in difrent combinations, and as you go stronger practise making more at once. Geting comfortable with drawing on the difrent elements, as well this would learn you which elements you find yourself stronger and weaker in."
