Oh....I was thinking that maybe I should give a little about my self.  I have been reading WOT for along time and probably read the first book at least 12 times and the others a little less.  I found this site about 4 years ago and would come back to it to find any answers I had.  I have  always been impressed with the community here(how could you folks be anything but great, your all fans of the greatest books ever), but it is not until now that I have come to join.

I hope to get the most from this experience and have fun with those who share a love for something great.

Ok, first, are you interested in Roleplaying? Or just hanging out with a community, chatting about various different things?

I doubt it, the RP community is quite nice and would help you out a lot. You'll have to wait for some of them to stop in though, as I'm not very familiar with how things go over there myself.

A bit on the Org side in the meantime:

Org - Organizations. These are community hangout area's which each have a different focus. Some examples of this are the Ogier are focused on books, or the aiel on current events. Be sure to stop by each org and ask what they are about, they'll all happily tell you, in fact, many of them will stop in here to try and recruit you.

The WoT book discussion is only the very top forums.

The News and Announcements forum is there to keep you up to date on all the latest stuff happening around here, and also has the Ask the Chosen advice column... very amusing to read. General discussion is self explanitory I suppose, and contained within it are Fiddlesticks, the spam forum, Debates and Discussions (self explanitory I hope) and the Organized games forum, which is currently running signup's for a new player mafia game, hosted by GoodGrief, should you want to check it out.

And then there's the meets forum, where you can organize real life meets, and the podcast forum, which discusses the weekly podcast which you can find on this website as well, though I don't recall offhand where.

Hello and welcome!  It's always nice to see new faces around here! :)

Whilst you're looking around, why not stop by the Ogier org and say hi?  We love visitors, and we do indeed talk about books, as well as weapons, ale and lots of other things.  I'll add my recommendation for the Wolfkin org as well. :)

Have fun!

Hey Jeff

RPing is one the main reasons that I have come back to Dragonmount. Its really fun and super easy. There isn't even a 20 sided dice involved so its nowhere near as complicated as most not video game RPGs are (this is nothing like D&D- I promise). The Warders are my favorite and what I was involved with the first time that I was on the site and I'm reapplying there right now.

Basically you create a character, but try not to make it something mundane or run of the mill- like some Malkieran who has awoken from a coma and is ready to battle the Shadow again, or a farm boy from the Two Rivers who wants to find adventure. Those are frowned on, but something like a young Tearian Noble who accidentally killed his servant in a hunting accident and has run away because he is afraid to face the conciquinces would be something easier to write about and give your character more depth. Then you basically post what your character's thoughts feelings and actions are and someone else will post their charater's actions in responce and a dialogue is created and all kinds of fun will follow.

Its easy and fun. Oh a little secret that most probably don't do, or they didn't when I left. Type up your posts in Microsoft Word then copy and paste them online to make sure that your spelling and stuff is right. It makes everything easier to read.

Hope you join a RP group and then maybe we can write together.

Thanks for the advice, how do I apply to be a warder?  Are there other characters as well?  Is there a seperate website?  When role playing is it done in real time?  Im pretty sure I can go for hours with questions but all I need is a place to start from.  Thanks for the help.  ;D

there is a link for the Warders on my thread either right above this one or right below it. And you could write in real time if you wanted to its just your writing style, I've seen some write in first person and others do the traditional RJ third person too. Really if you just look at some different threads and just about every group has a training period and things that you have to do to advance your character and they will have a mentor or someone like a mentor assigned to you to help you develop and learn to play/write. It gets easier the more you do it and there are lots of groups like.....

The Aiel

Shadow Spawn/Trollocs and stuff

The Warders and Tower Guard

The White Tower

The Black Tower

the Children of the Light

The Band of the Red Hand

The Ogiers

The Seanchen

The Tinkers (or whatever their fancy name is)

There are even what are called Freelancers which I believe are just people who want to create random characters and have them interact with but outside of any of these groups

Welcome to DM JJ,

Rping is fun, though I don't do it on this site. But it doesn't stop you joining in the Orgs (Organisations). These are the Social Places of DM. And we have lots of fun going on. You can join the warders there and do tasks to gain points and those gain rank. It is like that in most Orgs.

I would like to recommend the Wolfkin Org. We have a theme of Nature (I'm sure you can work out why ;D). We show off pictures of Nature we have taken, we have our own newspaper which we create on the boards, and last months edition can be found on our main board. We are also the Home of TQ (Tequila) and Chilli, and are sure to give you a warm welcome.

For another Org there is the Band of the Red Hand for something for a little more regimented, but don't let that put you off. We have brawls and brews, jousts and Games. Thi one has the theme of Music and Travel.

For the Orgs you need no bio, just be yourself and have fun.

Hope to see you round the boards, and it's great to meet you. ;D

Welcome to DM!

For more information of RPing, head towards the bottom of this forum. That is where all the RP stuff is. They will be more than willing to help you out.

As for the rest of DM, do check out the ORGs. It's a great place to make new friends and have fun. Visit the Band of the Red Hand, DM's very own music and travel ORG. We have a lot on offer, so come by and have a look. You'll find something that will tickle your fancy! ;)

But whatever you do at DM, have fun! :)
