History: To truly understand Angel you must first understand where she comes from.

Her mother was Abigale Maridin the daughter of a somewhat wealthy seamstress. Abigales' mothers work was not the best, but it was far from the worst. In all she was known for her persistence and attention to detail. From the day Abigale was born her mother had known that she would give her daughter a better life than she herself had been given.

The mother and daughter spent hours each day discussing politics and the ways of controlling a man. Abigale was not the most beautiful woman who resided in the capital, but she was the only with whit to match her beauty. On Abigale's 17 th name day all of her mother's dreams came true. Abigale Maridin became Abigale Draycond when she married Marshell Alen Draycond, a very powerful, very wealthy noble. Marshell had a palace in Bandar Eban and several country estates besides. It was well known that Marshell (age 41) had a taste for the young women. It was also public knowledge that he was more than a touch insane. What was not known was that he had been 27 years a Darkfriend and was as sane as any man. So, as you can see Angel was born into a life of sex, lies, and deceit.

Angels Life:

The first lie was the identity of her father. All the while that Abigale had been wooing Marshell she had several lovers on the side. It was never confirmed but many, Marshell among them, had thought Angel's real father was a young Andorian blue eyed Lord.

It was only happenstance of course when the young Andorian's horse was found dead an hour outside Bandar Eban, no rider to be found….

It is not hard to imagine that from even the tender age of 7 Angel had no fears of killing intrigue or death. Even back then, she dealt out punishment like a hawker with her wares. If her dress was not pressed to her specifications the maid lost an arm. If her evening meal was not just so the cook was flogged. As a child she was a terror, by ten the deaths that could be traced to her hands counted at slightly more than her age. Neither her mother nor her father could take time out of their lives to keep their daughter in line. In fact neither spent much time with her at all. They saw each other on feast days and at the occasional family dinner. They indulged all of Angel's whims and made no attempts to keep their child in line. On her 13 th name day she swore herself to the shadow under the eyes of her father, mother, and all of their trusted confidants.

In the early years she was nothing more than a terror. No one gave a child a task an adult could surly do better. As she grew older her appetites changed and her blood calmed. The deaths that she dealt dwindled down to only the necessary.

I would hate to give the wrong impression of Angel. She may have been born to a life of lies, murder, and intrigue, but she was not all bad.

Though she never longed for any of her own, she had a fondness for children. After her parents had met with their "untimely" deaths the palace was often filled with small children. More often than not they were street urchins with no family of their own. Angel took them in, fed them, clothed them, educated them and gave them anything they desired. If anyone thought it was strange, no one dared to mention it where it might reach Angel's ears.

During one of the years after her parents demise, not too long past, an Aes Sedai appeared at Angel's door; asking after Marshell and a few nights lodging. The woman did not seem surprise at all to hear of his death, and she wrapped Angel into her plans as if she had always been. The Aes Sedai seemed to have more secrets surrounding her than any women Angel had ever met, perhaps her most closely guarded was that she could lie.

Heheh, sorry to take so long to get to this, life's been hectic. Anywho, I have one small question. It's been my understanding that once someone has been tested, they can channel, and will channel. Since she's to old to become a Novice, why would an Aes Sedai test the woman? It seems a bit out of character. I don't have a BWB to enforce my idea though, so if someone could clarify this for me, it'd be great.

She would test her because Angel asks her to. It really is as simple as that. They are both "sworn" to the same master, and have formed a friendship of sorts, more like an understanding really and when Angel finally asks her the Aes Sedai agrees.
