Premise:  Lillian Tremina, a newly raised sister to the White Ajah is, for a variety of reasons during her decade as a Novice and a score of years as an Accepted, not typical a sister.  Despite her choice of Ajah, she is keenly interested in working for the Tower as a whole rather than siding simply with her Ajah.  Due to her major work on the Tower, Lillian made sure to make connections with many sisters in the Tower which came to include Arette Sedai, Keeper of Chronicles.

At the same time, she also realises that her position in the Tower is far from enviable.  The weakest Sister to be raised to the shawl in recent memory and remaining one of the weakest of the Tower, she has also joined an Ajah which has no Eyes & Ears network of its own and only a relative interest in the outside world.  In order to serve the Tower, which she believes must become more active in the outside world, she realises that connections inside and outside the Tower are highly important to giving her a better capacity to serve the Tower.

Lastly, there is a personal issue of Lillian’s that she has waited many years to attend to.  An amulet passed to her keeping by her family before leaving for Tar Valon, it was during her years as an Accepted that she discovered that the heirloom was also a key.  A chest sits in the Tower vaults unopened and its strange lock awaiting the very key in her possession.  Having resisted the urge to open it, she has been waiting to become Aes Sedai so that she may discover the truth of the amulet and what it unlocks for herself as much as for her dead parents.

It seems that the Wheel must be listening to her prayers, because its only a couple of days after her raising that she is launched headfirst into her duties for the Tower…

A Chance Destiny:  Accessing the vaults of the Tower with her new status, Lillian satisfies a curiosity that has plagued her for years.  Opening the chest, Lillian discovers memoirs, personal items and most importantly a map with no bearings and but a few clues to help her use it.  But, she does know one thing for certain, to learn more she will need to travel to Mayene.

The Tower Agenda:  Summoned to Arette Sedai’s quarters, Lillian and the Keeper discuss her raising and her work which had captured the Keeper’s attention first a couple of years earlier.  Still demonstrating her willingness to serve the Tower as a whole, Arette Sedai decides to give Lillian a task that is both needs completion and as a test.

In Tear, one of her Eyes & Ears by the name of Atilio Guenna has stopped sending reports.  Lillian is to go and assess the situation and, if necessary replace, Atilio with someone else.  She is also told that she may use the opportunity to do whatever else she can, from investigating for more information in the field to testing for new Novices as long as she does not get caught.  Lillian has but a couple of months to prepare for her trip.

A New Union:  A little over two months later Aramina Sedai has rushed to Cairhien to discover a breach of her Eyes & Ears in Cairhien.  When she arrives at the inn where the spy resides, she is more than a little shocked to discover it is Lillian.  Some fireworks result, but after a great deal of negotiation and consideration on Aramina Sedai’s part, Lillian is granted access to Aramina Sedai’s developed network in exchange for Lillian adding to the network.  While in Cairhien, Lillian also manages to convince Aramina Sedai to instruct her in several combat weaves that might prove useful for defending herself.

A Tear Shed:  Lillian arrives in Tear as the aspiring merchant woman Ahliya Martenel of Arad Doman to discover first hand how deplorably oppressive the Lords and Ladies of the nation are.  When she goes to the Maule to find Atilio Guenna, she discovers that he was arrested and taken to the Stone and has been there for sometime.  Fearing that he might speak of the Tower to try and buy his freedom, or spill the secret unwillingly, Lillian resolves to free Atilio.

The Easiest Route:  Knowing that force is useless, Lillian decides to win her passage into the Stone through subterfuge.  Going to one of the game houses of the Inner City, she enters the games of Chop and uses her wiles to garner attention.  Presented with several choices including High Lords Sanin Oriega and Alarin Suaren, she decides instead upon the young Lord Espan Martico.  At the end of the night, she goes back with him to the Stone and due to his rather drunken state doesn’t hesitate to send him to the land of nod once they reach his quarters.

Jailbreak:  Making her way down to the dungeons with a mixture of disguise and stealth, Lillian discovers Atilio being worked over by a torturer and his apprentice for ‘educational purposes’.  The vile nature of it is enough to prompt Lillian to kill both of them with a mixture of knife and power (people can’t fight back if they’re bound by air).  Freeing Atilio from his chains, she fakes Atilio’s death along with the torturers and destroys the records of his arrest.  Seeing him free from the Stone with instructions, Lillian returns to Lord Espan Martico’s quarters so as not to draw suspicion to herself.

Subterfuge:  Keeping Lord Espan Martico’s company for a week, she spends her days with him and at night she plies the Stone for more information, even as she wrestles with her conscience over having killed people and why she had done it.  At the end of the week, she says her final farewell to Lord Espan Martico and boards a ship for Mayene and links up with Atilio Guenna.

A Striking Contrast:  On her way to Mayene Lillian spends her time analysing what records she was able to copy from the Stone, ranging from inventories to journals.  A set of correspondences she managed to view have particularly struck her due to the fact they are in a cipher.  While her White Ajah training is limited, she isn’t a stranger to the challenge yet it stubbornly resists her.  It is still a problem by the time she arrives in Mayene.  She doesn’t allow it to stop her from investigating clues in regards to her personal quest while soaking up Mayene but soon she is traveling again because she discovers that what she seeks, the Tomb of Ransyn Aranor, is on Cindaking.

An Ancient Heritage:  Following the clues and the map in Cindaking, Lillian discovers the entrance to the Tomb of Ransyn Aranor.  Making her way to the tomb proper, she discovers more records, journals, the true history of what happened at the Battle of Bloodwater and how the pendant came into her family’s possession.  The Tomb also has a second occupant, an Aes Sedai by the name of Bethalin Masran of the Gray Ajah who also played a pivotal part in the history.  Her angreal and ter’angreal are present which Lillian claims.  Furthermore, a discovery in the tome helps put her on the road to unlocking the cipher.

Threatening Ambitions:  By the time Lillian has made it back to Mayene, she’s managed to crack the cipher and its contents lead her to approach the Aes Sedai Ambassador who gains both of them an audience with the First of Mayene.  The ciphered correspondences were between the High Lords Sanin Oriega and Alarin Suaren.  Planning to remove their opponents in the High Council through assassination and pin the murders on Illian, the next step was the declaration of war against Illian and Mayene to justify their wish to reclaim Mayene.  Combined with the other records Lillian saw and copied, the High Lords had been planning this move for several years.  It is decided that Lillian will use the information and her previous contact in Tear to try and thwart the ploy while Mayene uses the time to prepare her defences and the Ambassador appraises the Tower of the situation.

Diverting the River:  Arriving in Tear, Lillian is confronted with the news that a High Lady of Tear has been murdered, the plot is already in motion.  Making contact with Lord Espan Martico, Lillian discloses the truth behind the assassination and offers Lord Espan Martico a way to avert it, as well as a reason to.  By the time Lillian leaves the Stone, the High Lords are already being arrested for their actions, and with Tear’s attention focused inward rather than outward the crisis is ended.

A Sister’s Burden:  Returning to Tar Valon, Lillian meets with Arette Sedai and Karana Sedai.  Discussing what occurred, she keeps the angreal from the Tomb of Ransyn Aranor secret.  Thread is wrapped up.

*Angreal from the Tomb of Ransyn Aranor

Silver Band:  A thin ring, it has no device or mark upon it to distinguish it in any shape or form.  When worn, one’s ability to draw on the one power is augmented modestly.  Was discovered in the tomb of Ransyn Aranor.  1.5x increase, cap of 10.

Serpent Earring:  A silver serpent less than an inch in length, its tiny scales have been articulated by nothing short of a master craftsman’s work.  While worn, the individual may perceive illusions that have been tied off as an overlapping image, allowing an individual to see what lays beneath the deception.
