The cool morning air blew through Miryana’s long red hair as she busied herself about the clearing awaiting her charges.  Today she would take several young Wolfkin into the mountains and teach them about what life was like for a Sage.  They would be away from the Stedding for several days and she had told those interested to pack accordingly.

It had been several weeks since she had hung the announcement outside the infirmary informing those interested of the trip.  The response had been more eager than she had anticipated.  Most young Wolfkin chose the excitement and glory of the Rangers or Trackers and fewer and fewer had shown interest in the Sages.  It made her heart light that several had shown so much interest in her teachings.

The clearing she waited in was just north of the inn and those joining her had been told to meet here just after breakfast.  Good weather seemed to favor the trip at lest for the moment and for that she was thankful.

Checking her pack that lay near the stump of an old oak she made sure she had all she needed one last time.  Satisfied she stood and smoothed out her dark green blouse.  She wore tight leather trousers for the trip with soft boots that laced up to her calves.

Thinking over what she planned on teaching Miryana smiled.  Of course she would show them the use of herbs and salves and how to commune with nature.  But it was the dream the interested most of those who would learn from her.  The Sages were masters of the dream and of all the Wolfkin they held dominion over it and guarded its secrets.  Only Owen was equal to the Sages in this regard and knew its secrets as they did.  Sitting down beside her back she crossed her legs and waited.

OOC:  I will give a few days for those joining the rp.  Please give me a ooc description of your character or include it in your post.  Let the mischief begin 

Ever since Nighteyes had taught Zarine about the World of Dreams, she had been hooked up and had wanted to learn more. The Dream was the territory where the Sages were the most competent and she wanted to learn more about what the hearts of the Wolfkin actually did. John had told her something and as she wasn't very nurturing person, healing didn't interest her that much. Also the advice giving and supposedly being wise and knowledgeable bit worried her. Too often she spoke without thinking and had even ended up offending people or just making them uncomfortable, especially in the Stedding where mostly everyone else seemed to be more introverted. Everyone but Korrena; Light she really was a piece of something and Zarine still hadn't decided whether was she adorable or annoying. Maybe she was both.

Miryana, the Head Sage, was someone she had not had the pleasure of meeting yet so she was curious. Her mentor was a Ranger and she had got to know a bit Anabel and Anton who were Trackers so the only group of the four she didn't have that personal touch to were the Watchers. It was something she wanted to remedy. But better focus at the task at hand. Her tilted almond shaped eyes picked up a form of the red haired woman among the trees with ease. She wondered how much her eyes had changed already. It was hard to tell yourself since the shift was so slow and gradual but she could have sworn that her eyes were much lighter brown already. Golden eyes would go nicely with her pale blonde hair and fair skin. Not that looks really mattered anymore since she was out of the court and no one expected her to be the beauty anymore, no one but except maybe she herself.

But they were something she could not affect and she had much more important things to learn like how to use her senses and how to survive in the wilderness and to control the wolf inside her. Approaching the clearing cautiously, she knew that the woman had heard her already. She was just a bit nervous since Miryana was supposed to be the wisest of the wise and if she would one day learn from her, it was important to make a good impression.

"Good day, Miryana. I am Zarine and I signed up for the excursion with you. I seem to be the early bird. Will there be many who join us?"

Kat finished packing the things she would need, most of which she had made while on her trip, while she searched for what had changed about her and tried to figure out what was wrong and find herself in the process. Some of it had been made since she came to the stedding, she had begun to dry herbs and had made herself the tools for that, a new knife, more clothing and even a wall hanging or two had begun to give her a sense of home and she had been able to sell a couple of her wall hangings to other people for money or in trade. She slung the pack over her shoulder and took one last glance around the room she shared with her sisters, she smiled as she looked it over and decided it was time to do a rug in their room, she knew that both her sisters were crafty so they might even want to make one to add their own touch to the room. Turning from the room she walked from the room and made her way out to the area where they were meeting. She knew that at least one of her sisters would be on this trip as they might also be doing Sage training, she was pretty sure that her youngest sister was interested in the trip and in being a Sage. She smiled as she thought of how much her youngest sister had grown up in the last while, she seemed to be blossuming and becoming a beautiful and very intellegent young woman since they came here.

She walked along and as she did she pulled her long ebony black hair back, it reached her lower back and would do nothing but get in the way on their trip unless she tied in back. Kat was small and petite and only stood about 5 and a half feet, she was also slim and atheletic. Being Cairhienin, she had dark blue eyes that were slightly slanted and a very defined nose. Today she wore a pair of black leather pants with wolf heads up the side, she had designed them in the real world after she had imagined them in the Wolf Dream with Anton. Over this she wore a matching black leather top and a pair of soft deerskin boots graced her feet. She reached the area where they would be meeting up with their guide and walked up to her as she spoke,  “Hello Miryana, it’s nice to meet you again, I will be on this trip with you. Thank you for offering it to all of us, I am very interested in the art of herbs and all things in the Sage training.” Kat smiled and then watched for her sister, she had grown more comfortable since coming her and with Anton’s help was as scared that every man was trying to take advantage of her.

As Korrena landed seat first on the ground a string of flavoured curse words escapped her lips. Looking up she saw the branch that betrayed her swinging limply in the tree. "Stupid Bloody Tree.... " She muttered as she then stood up, wincing a little, and brushed the dust off her dark tanned breeches. Tossing her dark stick straight hair over her shoulders, Korrena approahced the small party of now three. One was Mira, the woman Korrena met the first day. She liked her but felt very little from the woman, which tugged at her curiousity. The second was a girl that she had never met before. Like all others in this place, was at least 5 inches taller than Korenna's 4'8" frame. The third, korrena moaned, was her sister.

Burn me.. i hope she didn't hear me.... Placing on an innocent smile, She strolled up with an easy, self assured grin, despite the pain in her backside.

"Have no fear, folks, for the entertainment part of the trip is now here." She grinned. "I'm just kidding. Thank you for the invitation, Mistress Miryana. Aran told me of this trip and felt it would be good for me. Not sure what he meant by that, but I'm excited."

‘Anything else...’  Scanning her room, she found naught but a dirty sock, a punctured waterskin and her... ‘Blood and ashes, you idiot!’  Forced to unpack, not that she had packed much, she settled her winter cloak in the bottom of her pack.  Miryana was taking them up the mountains but had never said how far and Aleeza’s thin dust cloak would never withstand the icy winds near the ice-capped summits of the mountains.

In the process of repacking anyways, she went through what she had packed for what seemed the hundredth time.  With as many double and triple checks as she had done, one would think her completely prepared but the oversight of her cloak proved that assumption false.  ‘Winter cloak, extra breeches, clean blouses, satchels of various dried herbs, dried meat, loaf of bread, wrapped bundle of cheese to keep it from going hard, canteen of water, canteen of spirits for cleaning wounds or knives.’  One final scan of the room turned up her hunting knife, tossed on the bed.  Growling, she stuck it through her belt and rushed out the door.

Wincing about how late she was, the young woman set off at a jog, hoping Miryana had neither left without her nor was too annoyed with her tardiness.  Of course, jogging while juggling a quarterstaff taller than she was proved quite the feat and twice she nearly went sprawling; once when she tripped over an unseen root and the second time when she lost control of her staff and it banged off her shin, nearly sending her sprawling.  It was just her luck that she had somehow managed to smack the bare two inches of unprotected shin between her knee and the top of her boot.

As she approached the group, she struggled to hide her limp for fear that Miryana might turn her back for nothing more than a smarting shin.  Well... that and the fact that she did not relish the idea of relating her clumsiness to a group of complete strangers.  She didn’t recognize either of the faces in the group except that she had seen them maybe once or twice in the Stedding.  Aleeza wasn’t social in the least bit and she could count her circle of acquaintances on her fingers with a few left to spare.

One of those acquaintances, the least welcome in fact, peeked her head out from around the dark-haired young woman who Aleeza didn’t know.

“YOU!” she screeched, pointing an accusing finger at the girl.

The womans finger that pointed straight at Korrena was enough for her to give a slight momentarily sheepish grin. It lasted all of a moment before she shook her head.

"No, my name isn't "you". It's Korrena. And really, do you need to make a scene?" She smiled brightly. And then she noticed the bag Aleeza was carrying. "Bloody Ashes, are you taking a full circus in that thing? Or is it the dead body of your last victim?"

Korrena's smile could not have been any sweeter if she tried.

Korrena.. in for a world of.. fun.. :D

With her young students all finally there Miryana had to chuckle at Korrena’s antics.  The girl would be a handful and she would have to keep her on a short leash.

“Welcome one and all it does my heart good knowing you wish to learn more of the Sages and our way of life.”

She spent several moments making sure the girls were properly outfitted before she was ready to set out.

“We will be going deep into the woods where I will be teaching you about herbs among other things.  When night comes we will explore the wolf dream together.”

As expected the mention of the wolf dream made the girls golden eyes sparkle with anticipation.

“We will take turns carrying my bag which contains cooking supplies and other things we will need for the trip.”

Placing a finger on her lips she considered eyes coming to rest on Korrena and she gave the girl her best smile.

“I think you should take the first turn dear so if you will shoulder the pack we will be off.”

Aleeza had a satisfied look on her face as the Sage leader led them out of the clearing and up a path that led deep into the woods.

“I am sure all of you have had basic herb training but stay close to me and I will teach as we walk.”

Stopping Miryana turned back to them.

“Oh and as an incentive who ever can find me stinging mardroot as we travel will be except from cleaning dishes for a day.”

She winked at Zarine and Katrina and began to climb the path that cut through the woods.  As she walked she explained the various herbs found in the stedding and then expanded it to those she had to leave the stedding to obtain.  She shared with them the lore and knowledge of healing that the herbs helped the Sages with.  Secretly she was glad she had all girls with her and did not have to worry about them mooning of some prepubescent boys.

OOC: I don’t care who finds it so whoever wants to not do dishes just find it :) And Mirayna’s wolf name is kissed by fire.  I changed this recently so stop scratching your head Reetta :) I am well aware we will have much mischief on this trip so have fun with it.

She wanted to frown as the pack was handed to her. Clearly the woman thought that she was going to be trouble and that wearing her out would help avoid this. Nibbling on her lower lip she thought for a moment, debating whether it was worth commenting or not. Or even making a face. However the bitting of her lip showed enough enough restraint for her character and after grinning back at Miryana, she shrugged the pack into a more comfortable position on her back. Giving her sister one last look, she followed silently, plotting carefully as her nose caught various scents in the air. Anton had taught her decently well. Although she eneded up picking out more over the course of a few weeks and a book she had snuck from someones bookshelf. She was sure they didn't miss it too much. It was dusty with old ink stains. And she put it back shen she was done. Either way she was positive she could find the Stinging Mandroot... or Foxtail. Both work for Miryana's purpose....

She started to humm a little as her mind worked furiously, following the others.

Rena saw her youngest sister approaching them and she smiled at her, apparently she didn’t see the smile, for her sister just kept walking. As she reached them she looked up and saw her, a moan escaped her sister’s mouth when her eyes lighted on her and Rena narrowed her eyes at her before turning back to their teacher. "Have no fear, folks, for the entertainment part of the trip is now here. I'm just kidding. Thank you for the invitation, Mistress Miryana. Anton told me of this trip and felt it would be good for me. Not sure what he meant by that, but I'm excited." Rena rolled her eyes and kept her eyes straight ahead, it didn’t do well to encourage Korrena in anything, if you laughed, she only got wilder. She just seemed to have the class clown personality, which was fine, as she had spent more than one night laughing until her stomach hurt, at her sister’s antics. However there was a time and place for everything and this was clearly not it. A screech came from behind her and she turned and looked at the young woman she didn’t know, the woman was approaching them at a run and has a huge pack on her shoulders, the quarterstaff she clutched also seemed a little big for her frame. “YOU,” Katrina arched an eyebrow at her, she had no idea what the woman was pointing at her for. Then it came to her, Korrena was behind her and the woman wasn’t pointing at her but at her younger sister. "No, my name isn't "you". It's Korrena. And really, do you need to make a scene? Bloody Ashes, are you taking a full circus in that thing? Or is it the dead body of your last victim?"

Rena winced at the words that had just come out of her sister’s mouth, though a part of her agreed with her. She also wondered what her sister had done to this young woman to make her act like a fool and screech that loud, in front of a group of people she didn’t know.  Knowing her sister, it was at least mostly her fault, whatever it was. However another part of her wanted to stand up for her little sister and reprimand this woman for her foolish actions. She repressed that, her sister was a young woman now and could take care of herself just fine. A chuckle sounded behind them and she turned around to look at their teacher.  “Welcome one and all it does my heart good knowing you wish to learn more of the Sages and our way of life.”   Miryana helped them with all their bags, made sure that they had everything they needed and then began to speak again. “We will be going deep into the woods where I will be teaching you about herbs among other things.  When night comes we will explore the wolf dream together. We will take turns carrying my bag which contains cooking supplies and other things we will need for the trip.” Katrina nodded, it was to be expected, they were sharing, so of course they would share the carrying of the bag as well. Of course she felt sorry for the young woman with the huge pack; imagine trying to carry that and the heavy pots. Miryana looked over at Korrena and then smiled as she spoke, “I think you should take the first turn dear so if you will shoulder the pack we will be off.” Rena looked over at the young woman that has screamed at her sister and saw a satisfied smirk on her face; Rena growled low in her throat and turned back to Miryana. “I am sure all of you have had basic herb training but stay close to me and I will teach as we walk. Oh and as an incentive who ever can find me stinging mardroot as we travel will be exempt from cleaning dishes for a day.” The woman winked at her and then began to climb the path in front of them. Rena chuckled and then began to follow Miryana. As they moved up the path, Miryana explained the herbs around them, Rena had a pretty good knowledge of herbs but there were a lot of herbs here that weren’t in the book her mother had given her. She looked carefully for the herb that Miryana had mentioned although she didn’t mind doing dishes.

It was very lucky for Korrena that Miryana was giving Aleeza a very cool look that carried both amusement and warning.  Focusing a great deal of her concentration on keeping her teeth from grinding as they set out, she made certain to keep as much distance between herself and the little girl as possible.  For all her pacifist beliefs, a smack upside the head would do the girl wonders but the former tuatha'an doubted the Sage would appreciate her taking it into her own hands.  And so, Aleeza resisted the oh-so-strong temptation of her tightly gripped staff connecting with the back of a certain black-haired skull.

However, tension gradually leaked from her as they passed through easily the most beautiful scenery in the world.  Aleeza had always loved the mountains with their brethtaking drops and sparkling waterfalls, vast forests and fascinating rock formations.  Losing herself in the beauty and serenity of this untouched world, it was easy to forget about what she was supposed to be looking for ahnd easier still to get lost in her own memories.  She didn't even notice herself humming "The Valleys and the Hills" and she walked.
