:)Hi everyone. I just registered today and I'm not sure what I'm doing.LOL I've been reading TWoT for about 5 yrs and I absolutely love it. I would appreciate any help about how the discussions work. I'm obviously a little computer challenged, but I would really enjoy discussing the books, characters, and anything else that comes up. Thanks

Welcome! Discussions are pretty simple.

 

The General Discussion board threads are basically open - read what you want, post where you want to say something.

 

Structured Discussion board threads are just that: structured. That mostly means that any of the threads about specific books should not contain any spoilers about later books. That is the best way we've got to give people who haven't finished all the books somewhere they can post without having spoilers everywhere - and trust me, spoilers are pretty much EVERYWHERE besides there. You're welcome to post in any of those threads, just keep the no-spoiler rule in mind for the book-specific threads.

 

Other than that, post where you like! Check out some of the different Orgs, which are different communities here, with a wider range of discussions than the WoT discussion boards. I recommend the Seanchan Org for tv and movie talk, or the Children of Light DG if you like comedy (jokes, youtube, silly posting, etc).  ;D

If you're at all interested in role-playing, there's a thriving RP community here.  For roleplaying, I'd suggest starting off by reading this post: http://forums.dragonmount.com/index.php/topic,354.0.html  That covers the basics and will give you an idea of where to begin.

 

Next you'll want to get an idea of the kind of character you'll want to play. Just about every group of people on Randland are represented in some way. When you have an idea of the kind of character you'll want to play, you'll need to come up with a character bio and have it approved for play. After that, just find your way to the Div boards for your chosen Division and begin to join in on the fun as you await for your bio to be approved and to be assigned a mentor

 

But no matter what you decide to do with your time here at DM, I hope you enjoy yourself. And once again, welcome aboard. :)
