Talyn was very glad to be done with the Tower Guard Ceremony, his new room was much better than his last, he only had one roommate this time. They'd hardly had any time at all to chit chat yet as Talyn was being ushured around getting his wall schedule set and getting trainees to train and learning about what he was suppose to do now.

But he finally had a few moments to spend out in town and he intended to do so. He was hungry and decided to try one of the other inns in Tar Valon. He'd been to the Siren's Call too much. Talyn just walked and found one he thought looked comfortable, he didn't catch the name as he walked in.

The afternoon crowd was light and Tayln was thankful. He choose a seat facing the door at an empty table. Can't have too many light fools walking in with out his knowing. He smiled at the waitress and ordered the noon special and a spiced wine.

It was a nice place as he looked around, Talyn wondered then if any of the other Tower Guards frequented the place.

Lyssa leaned back in her chair and rubbed a hand over her neck. She was so tired but the thoughts kept pouring into her journal. Writing in the seem was a comfort and yet it was also a pain. Looking over what she had written she sighed deeply.

My mother hates me. I swear I cannot do anything to make her love me, I seem to do everything wrong and I will never be able to make her proud of me. All I get from her is that cold as ice look and her nose in the Air. I hate to say it but a part of me thinks she is a snob.

Shaking her head she stood from her desk and closed her journal. She opened the false bottom on her desk drawer and placed the book in with the rest of them. She smiled and laid a hand on the journal, it was maroon velvet, the color of her new tower guard cloak and it had the emblem of the guard in metal on the front. Her name was etched into the front of it in scrolling print. Her mothers friend Jaydena Sedai who knew her true relationship had given it to her as her raising to Guard gift. In fact Jaydena had given her a stack of them with a sad smile on her face. Closing the drawer she decided that she would take the night on the town. She slide her feet into a pair of soft as butter black knee length boots she had splurged on and picked up her cloak. Swinging the new cloak around her shoulders she smiled and hooked her sword at her waist, on the other side she hooked her money pouch and a dagger.

Lyssa walked from the room and made her way out of the Tower, given a jaunty salute to the Guards stationed at the Gates of the Tower. She walked swiftly through the streets and soon found a Inn that looked to be busy enough to give her some entertainment. The Golden Cup was in a good area of the city and she knew that she had heard it's name mentioned by other Guards before. The sign showed a picture of a Aes Sedai with her gold ring glinting sipping from a gold cup. She smiled and stepped into the room. Taking a few steps in she surveyed the room and took a seat at the bar, motioning for the barkeep she asked for a glass of apple juice. She didn't drink any spirits as part of the purifications aspect of her discipline. When he brought the drink to her she sipped it and glanced down the bar...

Talyn saw another tower guard enter the inn. It seemed some did know of the place. Talyn emptied his cup and moved down a few seats to talk to his fellow guard. Some of the men eyed him like he was trying to pick up the guard, he merely laughed it off. "Hello, my name's Talyn, I think I've seen you around the yards. How long have you been in the guards?" Talyn didn't give her time to answer. "I've only been one for a few days now. My ceremony was last week."

Talyn found the his rambling was getting nerve wracking to him. "I'm sorry, I talk too much." Talyn ordered another drink and sipped at it. "How long have you been a guard?" This time he waited for an answer.

Lyssa drank her apple juice as she looked down the bar, she saw several people and even saw a few Tower Guards she knew, though they weren't wearing their cloaks as she was. She nodded to them but turned back to her drink, they knew her well enough to know she wasn't much of a social butterfly. Taking another sip she almost choked as the man at the end of the bar scooted down and sat down next to her, taking a seat he spoke and she regarded him warily, "Hello, my name's Talyn, I think I've seen you around the yards. How long have you been in the guards? I've only been one for a few days now. My ceremony was last week." He didn't even give her a chance to answer and she almost smiled as she wondered if he was nervous. He seemed to collect himself before he spoke, "I'm sorry, I talk too much. How long have you been a guard?" She sipped her drink again and regarded him as she thought, his hair was black, his eyes were brown and he wasn't to bad looking.

She figured it wouldn't hurt her or kill her to talk to him and so she would enlighten him. "Hello there, I don't think I have had the pleasure of meeting you before now. My name is Lyssa Simone and as for being a Tower Guard. I have been one a very short time, so long that the newness hasn't faded for me yet. So how long have you been a guard?" She took another drink and waited for him to answer...

Talyn grinned. "I've only been a guard for a week now. I had my ceremony last week. As much as we push for Tower Guard as a Trainee, I sometimes think it's best to let it go slow. Being a Tower Guard is alot of work. Between my own training and training trainees, the wall shifts are just alot of work." Talyn started remember the easy days of being a trainee. "Being a trainee meant easier hours, just lots of training and chores."

"Did you do anything interesting as a Trainee?" Talyn would let Lyssa answer, he had a few stories to tell himself if he was asked.

ooc: Sorry for the lateness hun!

Lyssa eyed the man as he continued to talk, "I've only been a guard for a week now. I had my ceremony last week. As much as we push for Tower Guard as a Trainee, I sometimes think it's best to let it go slow. Being a Tower Guard is alot of work. Between my own training and training trainees, the wall shifts are just alot of work." She nodded and one side of her mouth curved up in a half smile. Being a Tower Guard was hard, and then there was the mission she was going on in the Ways. Course no one knew about that unless they were going. "Being a trainee meant easier hours, just lots of training and chores. Did you do anything interesting as a Trainee?" She glanced at him and mulled it over in her mind, what had happened to her as a trainee. It seemed honestly to be hard work and fighting with her mother. Turning to him she spoke, "Well my time is fairly stark, I spent most of it fighting with my aunt and watching as my brother went downhill." She sighed and seeing he was waiting for more continued, "I am in the Balance Discipline so it required a large amount of time trying to perfect everything about myself. Including shutting my twin brother out as he slowly became a horrible person. I was to perfect to see what he was doing to himself and to me. Now he is dead and I can't change anything." She shuddered and ignoring the tears pooling in her eyes, took a sip of her drink as she waited for him to speak.

"Brothers can be difficult when we need them most." Talyn spoke from experience. Though he didn't need Taylor now, and he wondered out the little rascal was doing.

"My brother thankfully didn't follow me here. Though I don't think my parents would let him. They barely let me go at sixteen. But I guess being a trainee here was much like being back home. My roommates liked to play pranks on me. Though I did get them back a time or two. But my mentor was my favorite thing about being a trainee." Talyn paused in rememberence. "Even when she was down and out after a fall, she beleived in me. That's probably why I stay here now. And why I chose her to do my ceremony for me."

"Who did you choose for your Guard at your ceremony? "

"Brothers can be difficult when we need them most." She nodded for she couldn't agree more but he had no idea just how difficult her brother had been. He had started to channel and then their mother had played a part in having him genteled. Then he had gone to the darkside and hooked up with a dreadlady who had helped him to torture and then rape their mother. He couldn't know any of it and she had only figured some of it from rumors and her mothers own veiled words. She sighed, and looked back at him. "My brother thankfully didn't follow me here. Though I don't think my parents would let him. They barely let me go at sixteen. But I guess being a trainee here was much like being back home. My roommates liked to play pranks on me. Though I did get them back a time or two. But my mentor was my favorite thing about being a trainee."

She nodded, she and her roommates had had a few fun times but mostly they had been focused on trying to prove themselves in a male dominated landscape. "Even when she was down and out after a fall, she beleived in me. That's probably why I stay here now. And why I chose her to do my ceremony for me." He seemed to be thinking for a few moments and then he turned to her and spoke, "Who did you choose for your Guard at your ceremony?" She looked into her drink and then spoke, "Alevia, she showed me that I could do just as well as the men and she guided me through many of the things I went through." She turned and looked at her drink again and then spoke, "How do you feel about being Tower Guard, do you want to become a gaidin. Do you have any specific ajah in mind in your search?"

ooc- I was part of the old system so I never had to rp the tower guard ceremony so I made up a npc. *G*

Talyn smiled, it was a very loaded question, but he would leave out the true answer, she'd not understand being a enemy after all.

"I came to the tower, actually for a very specific reason. I was sent by a friend to bond to a specifica Aes Sedai, but after I became a Tower Guard I moved on, she and I didn't click, even though we had tried on several ocassions." Revealing too much could jeopardize Cari's new life, he would not say more. "So now I'll live and be a Tower Guard. I may one day find a suitable Aes Sedai." He grinned. "But I'm probably more picky about who takes my bond than most Aes Sedai are about chosing the right one."

Talyn had yet to meet a member of the Black Ajah short of Raeyn Sedai but then he wasn't looking very hard either.

"How about you, you looking to be bonded?"

Lyssa saw hi smile and relaxed some, the man did have the most engaging smile. "I came to the tower, actually for a very specific reason. I was sent by a friend to bond to a specifica Aes Sedai, but after I became a Tower Guard I moved on, she and I didn't click, even though we had tried on several ocassions." She nodded, that was sad and she in many ways knew exactly what he felt. "So now I'll live and be a Tower Guard. I may one day find a suitable Aes Sedai. But I'm probably more picky about who takes my bond than most Aes Sedai are about chosing the right one." She smiled at him and thought that perhaps they had more in common than he even realized. Lyssa also wouldn't chose anyone but the best and was very picky. "How about you, you looking to be bonded?" She had to be very careful what she said here, for even the smallest slip could give her mother away and there were people within the Tower who would do many things to pull her down. Sipping her drink once more she said, "I want to bond more aunt more than anything and I came here with the purpose of being a great battle sister like her but once I found I couldn't channel, I wanted only to be her gaidin. That is still my deepest wish but it seems these days that nothing will come of my wishes." She looked down at her drink and spoke again, "I came here with so many illusions and so many of them have shattered around my feet like glass. I have lost my brother, my best friend, the love of a good man." Realizing she was rambling she turned and ordered another drink...

Tayln smiled comfortingly. He put an arm around her shoulder in comfort, but didn't stay long. It wasn't meant to be anything more than a comforting hug. Talyn wouldn't inquire about any of the losses, he wanted to turn the subject around. "But hasn't anything good come of your time here?"

OOC: sorry so short. But we can officially report this now hehe, we hit our number of posts and talked about our trainee days... still love to continue on tho.

The man next to her put his arm around her and spoke to her, "But hasn't anything good come of your time here?" She smiled and then laughed, "Well I suppose I have gotten close to my aunt, I am now proficent in many weapons, and have fine tuned my body" She glanced down at the body in question and knew it would do whatever she asked of it. Looking back up she spoke again, "I gained a knowledge of myself that I never would have if I had stayed at home. Knowledge is power after all and I suppose that is in a way what I came here for." Turning to him she spoke, "Would you like to have dinner together, I was about to order when you walked up and I could use some company?"

ooc- Ya!! Ok we can sure continue if you are willing, any ideas where you want to take this??

OOC: No clue, lol. This would be Tayln's first friend I've had a chance to make hehe.

Tayln nodded. "Sure, would love to. I'm kinda hungry myself." Talyn rose from his bench at the bar. "Perhaps a table is more appropriate now." Talyn smiled and offered his arm to escort Lyssa to a near by table. He may be a darkfriend, but he wasn't a ruffian. And there was no reason to act rude and have no manners even if everyone was a darkfriend. Manners and being poliete got you far better results than insults and butchery. At least he had no cause to think other wise.

Talyn walked with Lyssa over to table and pulled out the chair for her and then sat down himself. They chatted until the serving girl came to take their order. Talyn ordered the stew that smelled delicious and a mug of spiced wine. He'd found a liking for the wine. I better not drink too much Talyn thought to himself. Wouldn't want to get drunk before going on duty.

As the waited for their meals, Tayln wondered if Lyssa was in his comany. "Who's company are you in? I'm under Vasya Paranov." (OOC: This is a kinda retro RP since Talyn's just out of traineehood and can't be an LT yet.)

OOC: Cool, works for me!!

Lyssa waited for his answer with her breath held, honestly she didn't want to be alone to dwell in the thoughts of her brother and mother and he seemed nice enough. "Sure, would love to. I'm kinda hungry myself." He stood up and smiled down at her, "Perhaps a table is more appropriate now." She nodded and rose to her feet, she towered over him by at least 3 inches and she looked down into his brown eyes. Grinning she took his arm that was offered and walked to a nearby table. He walked her to a table and she let him pull the chair out for her and then push it in once she had sat down. He took a seat and they chatted about nosense things as they waited for the girl to come and get their orders. When the girl finally arrived looked tired and in a hurry, Lyssa ordered a small chicken fillet, steamed vegetables, a baked potato, some shrimp, and another glass of juice.

"Who's company are you in? I'm under Vasya Paranov." Lyssa gazed at him and smiled before answering, "I am in Aethan d'ma Shain and under Ralleigh Taj." She laughed and then said, "I haven't had much contact with my company captain, seems like our leaders are super busy these days. How about you, do you know either of them very well?"

ooc- *smacks forehead* Duh of course you couldn't be that! Thanks for knocking some sense into me!

OOC: That's what my OOC comment was about. This RP takes place before Talyn is LT. He can't be an LT right out of Trainee hood which is when this is set.

I'll post here after we get that little part cleared up.

OOC: Sorry I saw it was fixed hadn't had a chance to post but here I am

Talyn smiled. "No, I hardly know mine, and I certainly have only seen Master Raj. The only person I've really seen alot of was Rosheen and my roommates. I've not got an active social life." He grinned. "This is about the extent of it."

Talyn finished his dinner. "I think it's time I be getting back. I've a few books to return to the Library in the White Tower before it gets too late and the wonderful Brown Sister thumps me again."

Talyn took a bow, "It was a pleasure meeting you Lyssa, I hope we can get together again and have a chat."

He smiled at her and said, "No, I hardly know mine, and I certainly have only seen Master Raj. The only person I've really seen alot of was Rosheen and my roommates. I've not got an active social life. This is about the extent of it." Lyssa nodded and returned his grin, she was in the same boat, didn't have much of a social life and all that. She finished her dinner as they chatted and saw that he was done as well. "I think it's time I be getting back. I've a few books to return to the Library in the White Tower before it gets too late and the wonderful Brown Sister thumps me again." Lyssa nodded, she often used the White Tower library as she and her brother had shared the love of books. He bowed and spoke, "It was a pleasure meeting you Lyssa, I hope we can get together again and have a chat." Lyssa nodded and said, "I enjoyed it and I hope you don't get thumped by that Brown. See you soon." She watched as he walked off and gathered her things to go. Heading back to her rooms she smiled at the encounter and was glad she had gotten out...
