DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

I'm New and Awesome (Barm says so, so it must be true)

Recommended Posts

Yeah I am a big LotR fan, it was what started me into the whole fantasy genre, specifically high fantasy. Right now Im reading A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, and I gotta say its pretty incredible. Also, Im in the middle of The Sword of Truth series, by Terry Goodkind, and it is wonderful as well...

But the name is kind of loosely elven, based on Tolkien's rules. However, I intend to kind of change up the last name a bit to make it sound more "mannish" eventually, cause if I'm going to rp in the WoT world, it will have to be changed a bit.

Can anyone explain this "organization" thing to me?  I mean, I think I understand the jist of it, with roleplay and everything, but I'm not too sure...

Hey, I moved your post from Yelenia's thread because I figured that you were deserving of your own welcome thread. If you were having a conversation in the other thread, feel free to continue it there, but be careful not to steal Yelenia's thunder eh :P

Welcome, Ealdur Tinuviel!  My name comes from Wikipedia.  I was looking up the Knights of the Round Table and Sir Safir was one of them!  It just sounded awesome, so I said, "hey, why not?"

Anyways, welcome!  I'm sure there are people here who can tell you about the Orgs better than myself! :D

Welcome back to Dragonmount Mannish, I mean Eldur. Funny how we all come up with our names. I got mine from Star Trek TNG.

Please consider visiting the Aiel Org. Even if you don’t plan on joining at least come by for some oosquai and be treated to Aiel hospitality. I don't know about the joining yet, however you can come visit the public board and get to know us.

Ealdur, welcome to Dm...I thought your name was elvush in origin...I'm a big LotR fan too.

You want to know about the Orgs, basiclly we've taken elements into the books and loosley created small communities in there where you can get points for promotion within the Org, socialise, a bit of light rp and basicall have fun.

I would like to recommend a few...

The Band of the Red Hand...has a theme of music and travel, but also there are brews, brawls and wenches (with swords and bows though).

The Wolfkin...has a nature theme and is a warm family kinda place, with wolfish antics and not forgetting the home of the self filling TQ lake, and Chilli, with Cheerleaders and Pirates.

The White Tower, well here you can become a warder or Aes Sedai though you have to train to get there first (woman can be warders and men can be Aes Sedai). If you come along there...please pop by and say hi to the reds, we love new people, oh and we are nothing like the book you'll have to come along to find that out ;)

Any other questions just ask....but pop along and say hello if you want to join. Usually there is a sign up thread to be able to see the private boards, just fill in there or start your own...

*looks at nice juicy neck*...hmmmm please pop by the reds.. ;D

Not all the Orgs/Discussion Groups are anything like the ones in the book. The Children of the Light, for example is dedicated to humour and being funny and stuff. The Seanchan is the entertainment Org where people discuss movies, games and tv-shows.

I recommend these two, but try checking out all the Orgs/DGs.

:o Ealdur, we would never think about doing that....we reds even have a male Aes Sedai...much more liberal thinking than them in the books ;)

As hax said...don't expect it to be exactly like the books...thats for the RP side. The Orgs are fun....honest

Welcome to DM!

Enjoying the experience so far?

I see the Band of the Red Hand has been mentioned as an ORG to join - and that is some top advise. If you love music and travel, we are the ORG for you. But we have so much more - Battle Brew, brawls, gambling, loads of fun, regular duels to beat fellow Banders up in the Game Arena, and much, much more!

Whatever you do at DM, have loads of fun!  8)

Hehehe, there are two sides to DM, there is the RP side, where each group is based closely on the books, and there is the Org/Community side, where each group has found it's own identity, some like the books, others not.  The Orgs do not do RP as much or in the same way as the "official" RP side of DM, they are more about having conversations with other members about whatever topics come up, or about the adopted topics of the Org (Band - music & travel, Seanchan = entertainment, Wolfkin = nature).

For example, the Band of the Red Hand Org is set up like military ranks and does not approve of channeling, like the Band in the books, but the Seanchan Org has a mafia-theme, nothing at all like the actual Seanchan. It sounds like you came for RP, but I recommend you pop your head into various community orgs and see if there is one or more that you might enjoy, there are lots of neat people around. Orgs have private boards that you can visit once you officially join the org, but you do not have to join an org to be able to post in their public boards. :)

(P.S. I recommend the Seanchan. We're cool.  8))

*Doselan walks towards the large newbe gathering and as people see them coming they begin to hide thier wives, daughters, and tequila*  *growl*  *He saunters up to Ealdur and hands him a bottle of tequila and a bowl of chilli*  Welcome to DM, mate!  There are a lot of fun elements around here.  I thought about explaining the Orgs to you, but it seems that my dear friends here have it covered.  ;)  If you are looking to join an Org, please allow me to suggest the Wolfkin, we are a crazy group and we have loads of fun.  Like Talya said earlier, plenty of Tequila, Chilli, and Cheerleaders.  ;D  We do love visitors as well, so stop by, post a thread introducing yourself, and I guarantee that you will recieve a welcome like no other.  *clinks bottles with Ealdur*  Cheers, mate!!!
