Here’s the thing: I’m still hopeful for Season 3. This part of the story has so much potential to be incredible, and I’m excited to see Rhuidean, the Aiel Waste, and Rand’s journey .

But this didn’t deliver the energy or depth I was hoping for. Let’s hope the next one steps it up and gives us something to get excited about.

I liked it.  Rand finally gets some sword training from Lan - though the little I've seen of Lan's sword play in the previous two seasons left much to be desired.

Liked the Bangles for the trailer theme music.  For those that don't know - check out 'Hazy Shade of Winter'.

We're going to Rhuidean!!  This is genuinely my favorite arc of the books.  :aiel:

My view of the changes made in the show is that the books are still there, so if this arc is changed so much that it's unrecognizable...I'll probably just read book 4 again.  But, I've liked the show so far.

Cannot wait for the columns, looks like that will be episode 4. I've re-read those chapters alone dozens of times, probably my favorite scene in any book. I expect I'll be somewhat disappointed with it on first watch since there's no way it can match the text, but - like the books - I've found the show really rewards repeat viewings when I can set aside my initial comparison-based reactions and absorb the greater context.

I'm going to be a real killjoy (in the eyes of the fans of the tv series): I hope this is the last season, and there will be no more desecration.

You? A killjoy? No way.

Inspired by all of the WoTTubers doing Trailer Breakdowns, I wanted to essentially do the same:

1. It took me far longer than it should have to figure out that Rand and Co. are standing on a cliff looking out/down at Rhuidean

2. I really want to know what happens to Moraine that leaves her pale, drained, and caked with sand

3. Siuan is the one who says "The world is changing", but the underlying shot is definitely not of the white Tower in either the Third Age or the Age of Legends

4. The outside shot of Moiraine looking concerned has to be from Episode 1 and the footage that CCXP attendees got to see a preview of

4. Josha doesn't normally bear much physical resemblance to Alexander Kharim, but man did the show expend some effort to make Rand look like Lews for the first closeup shot we get of him in this trailer, so kudos to them for that

5. I don't know where she is or what she's doing, but I want more of red-veiled Liandrin

6. Elayne is definitely putting that crown on for a reason other than 'play'

7. In light of the footage that CCXP attendees got to preview, I'm going to 'buck the trend' and say that I don't think the shot of a Sister in Red sitting on the Amrylin Seat is related to Elaida's deposition of Siuan and instead might have something to do with one of the " thousand, thousand futures" Moiraine talks about glimpsing

8. In the shot where he and Egwene are lying on a rug, Rand looks like he has his mouth open because he's panting, not because he's speaking, and Egwene looks like she's spooked, so I don't think that whatever is happening here has anything to do with them breaking up (again)

9. I really want to know the context for the future in which Amrylin Moiraine is with a wounded Rand in the first place

10. I love that the show is leaning directly into the Moiraine vs Lanfear blood feud that they set up in Season 2

11. Alanna and Liandrin fighting definitely has to be sourced from the preview that CCXP attendees got to see

12. I'm not sure it was the best idea to cover Ciera Coveny in so much makeup that she doesn't even look like herself, but whatever

13. I really want to know the context for the shot of the 'new Forsaken' group of the Two Rivers Five, Elayne, and Lanfear brutalizing Moiraine (because that's the person they're towering over)

14. I wasn't sure if the image of Rand carrying Moiraine was in the show or just something they mocked up for marketing, but now I'm dying to find out the full context behind it

Edited OP with release date; March 13th

Cautiously optimistic and hopeful here, looks like we're getting some book 3 at the tower, mostly book 4 with a dribbling of 5.

I looked through the frames and there's some interesting stuff, most seems to be visions by the looks of it.

  • Opening scene of Rhuidian looks amazing. No Mat but Moraine has an interesting hat. Also no Matt as he who comes with the dawn. Not fussed if he doesn't go with them to the waste, other than the Fins he doesn't do much but complain and fraternise with darkfriends
  • Looks like we're all back at the tower, though no Perrin or Mat confirmed. I'd be surprised if Mat isn't there with his book 3 plot, get a proper healing and drop off the dagger (good riddens) for Fain and also..
  • Galad getting fawned over by novices, shirts off buddy. Not how I pictured him but from the reactions I've read they've nailed it. Has Gawyn been confirmed?
  • Moraine channeling into a crystal orb, Choedan Kal maybe?
  • Mystery blond lady isn't Elaine, the plush background makes me think Tanchico so.. Egeanin, Amerantha ot Black sisters maybe? Though probably someone from the visions.
  • Rands exploding with the power, smashing glass all around him, most likely mirrors though. Bottom rightish looks like a person shaped mirror crawling, gets shattered - bubbles of evil baby!
  • Matt with a wounded neck, doesn't look like rope wounds though, just a couple of cuts and gashes, another bubble of evil?
  • Eggys accepted test! Also Eggy in the waste, dressed like an Aiel maybe.
  • Liandrin and Moggy, I'm guessing when Moggy takes over and humbles the black sisters. From what I've heard from the preview scene that was shown, could be a good way to show why the Forsaken are feared.
  • An axe head getting forged and Perin with a similar axe! Bout time.
  • Rand and Lan training with a sword in the waste, probably in front of Aiel which is hilarious.
  • Moraine getting killed by Lanfear several times, so we're getting some of her visions. Could be a good way to build up their enmity for a big confrontation at the end fo the season. I'm more certain now that it's this season, most likely in Rhuidean.

I'm guessing Matt goes through a door in Tanchico, maybe during or just before the Moggy fight, and at the end of the season Rand is leading the Aiel back into Rhuidean and finds a friend hanging from a tree, something Moraine saw which aligns with the books. I'd imagine she'd think she had more time considering Mats on the other side of the continent. And in the end there's nothing left but a hat..

Hmmmmm.. again interesting and hopeful. 3 months guys!

Just wanted to put this out there: the show's Costume Designer, Sharon Gilham, has apparently confirmed that the 'blonde in red' is in fact Elayne despite much fan speculation otherwise.

Our heroes dressed up as Forsaken? Flicker flicker?

i don't recognize any of the faces, i see them blurry even at top resolution. even knowing who they are supposed to be, i can't tell. i don't know how you guys manage. the guy crawling on the ground is rand then? yeah, in that case it's clearly a vision

My guesses from left to right: Perrin, someone, Elayne, Mat, Lanfear, someone, Egwene(?), Rand. Moiraine on the ground bleeding? 20241210_220123.thumb.jpg.95e6ef99f45d7ecede6eec881f38a96a.jpg

2nd from the left looks like Moggy with her hair in a bunch, to the right of Lanfear is most likely Nyn as all the other main characters are here.

Agreed. Looks like part of Moiraine’s visions.

2nd from left could also be Lan 🤔

I think you could be right, they look feminine but show Lan isn't as big and has his hair in a ponytail which could easily by put in a bun on top, like the twisted Nyn who appears to have dreadlocks instead of a braid.

Also fits with the theme of the scene,  our friends being turned into "Forsaken".

Good thinking dude 🥲

so, you guys can't tell for sure if specific figures are male or female, but you can tell they are the main characters?

i ask with genuine curiosity, because i have difficulties recognizing faces, and i'd like to understand the normal people perspective.

The YouTube channel “Unraveling the Pattern” did a shot-by-shot analysis. He lightened up that scene and gave it a little color.

It’s obviously the Emond’s Field 5. But the second from the left is farther back and hard to make out. Could be Min. Could be Lan. Looks like Moggy to me.

There are some scenes in this teaser to be really hyped about.  I am looking forward to seeing the forging of Perrin's axe and while I hope we get a scene similar to his forging scene in tDR I don't think it is him forging the axe in the teaser.  The scene of him raising the axe with a battle cry gave me goose bumps.  The entire Two Rivers plot in tSR is one of, if not my favourite plot line in the entire series.

I am curious how they are going to introduce Faile, will she meet Perrin before going to the TR.  Will she already be there because she thought the Horn of Valere was going to be in the Mountains of Mist?

Happy to see Ruidean looking ethereal, not quite what I expected and all but a solid interpretation.  As with everyone I am looking forward to Rand's trip through the glass columns.
