This thread is designed to get you familiar with the very basics of participating and posting in our forums - so if you already know how to reply, quote, start new topics, and what all those buttons are on the "Post Message" screen, you may want to skip this thread.

 

For the rest of you - welcome to the wonderful world of forum posting. 

 

We hope this will answer any questions you have about the basics of forum participation - but if there's anything that you don't understand or feel we haven't covered, please reach out to us by starting a thread on the Ask the Staff board!

The boards are split into 3 sections; Getting Started, Wheel of Time Discussion, and Community Forums.

    • This is where you post anything and everything (not political) not Wheel of Time at.
  • Fiddlesticks
    • Fiddlesticks is a place to have irrelevant spammy fun... It's also a great place to post when it's 3am, and you're not sure if reality is a fever dream.

Topics

Topics (also known as Threads) is where discussion on Dragonmount's message boards happens. 

When a user starts a Topic, (using the "Start new topic" button), all further replies on that topic are contained within that thread. 

 

In general, user's do not need permission to create a Topic.

H
ere are some guidelines when starting a Topic:
DO: Look at recent Topics and make sure your topic is Unique before starting a new thread.
DONT: Purposely create duplicate threads

DO: Use Tags, Spoiler Tags,

DONT: Put spoilers or Inflammatory Language in Topic Titles.

Posting

OK, if your still with us, it's time for the meat and potatoes - how to post.  

 

Formatting is accomplished via buttons on the toolbar in post screen.

 

To bold text, highlight the text you want bolded and press the image.png button.  

 

To italicize, use theimage.png button.

 

To underline, use the image.png button.

 

To make text into a link, highlight it and use the image.png button. When the following dialogue pops up,image.png

Paste the URL in the empty field. You can change the link text in the second field.

 

To insert images hosted on the web, copy the link to the image, and Paste that link into your reply. Invision Community Forum Software will automatically embed it into the body of your post.

You can get the link in your browser's address bar or by right clicking the picture and selecting "properties" or "copy image location"). 
You can also Right Click an image and select "Copy Image", and then Paste it into your post. This may upload the image to your post as a file.

Private Messages

To PM another user, click on "My Messages", which appears as an envelope on the upper right hand corner of the Dragonmount Website. image.png

Click Compose New

Then type the recipient's user name into the "To" field, enter a subject, and type your message.

Reminder: Users are expected to follow D&D's Code of Conduct when Private Messaging. Harassing users via PM's is a bannable offense.
