Brown Ajah Book Challenge 2021

Recommended Posts

our grand tradition continues!

and for this year we have a special treat, the challenge will be guest hosted by @PiedPiper for the first couple weeks maybe longer, so without further ado, a message from the Piper:

For all Ray Bradbury’s fear of technology and its impact on our society, there was one invention of which he wholeheartedly approved: the book. Humans are storytelling creatures, as said by Neil Gaiman, and one of the best ways we can come to understand each other is through the things we write.
Why do we read? We read for fun, we read for escape, and we read for connection, and that’s what the Brown Ajah’s 2021 book challenge is all about. This year, we’re doing something a little different: rather than reading goals based purely on volume (which you are still welcome to make), we encourage you to expand your horizons.
You can join in the group goals or not, but this year, consider reading:
1 classic
1 book in a genre you don’t often read (other than classics)
1 book that’s much longer than average
1 book that’s much shorter than average
2 neglected books on your to be read list -- or, if you’re up for it, make it a monthly goal
You can try to make all of these goals or none of them, and you can alter them to fit your reading; you can choose books that will fulfill multiple goals at once or fulfill these goals with six different books -- it’s all up to you!
Post here that you’re participating in the challenge, and feel free to set other personal goals, but don’t feel bad if you need to change them at any point in the year.
If you want to discuss the books you’ve read, head over to the 2021 Brown Ajah book challenge discussion thread, where we’ll also have discussion prompts.

Finished "A Darker Shade of Magic" over Audible. I want the next book. 😐

I may get through more books this way, though it isn't my favored way to read.

Webtoons count as reading! I don't really like that kind of format (webtoons, graphic novels, etc.), since I just don't remember them well after I put them down. But I have friends who love them.

I read a romance novel, not my usual forte.

Steamy.

Really? Was is the ones that were adapted into Bridgerton? I hear those have been making the rounds lately.

I'd love to know what you read!

I'm picky with romances, but sometimes the dumb ones are healthy for a mental break. XD

I like them too. I struggle to read them on a desktop or so, but on a tablet it's much more enjoyable so long as i give it space between the tablet and my eyes. XD

No. Watching a few of the episodes of that show with my wife was enough.
