What is the strangest substance known to science:

Ok lets do a spread someone will have to do it rigth, and really all considering its different properties and whatnot it would not surprice me if it was B water

I'll say Water, because every substance in the universe becomes more dense when frozen, except water, which becomes less dense. That's why ice floats.

 

If you heated lead until it was molten, then tossed in a block of lead, it would sink until it melted. Same with everything else we know of, including compounds that contain hydrogen, oxygen, and both. 

 

There's no explanation why water behaves this way, but it's fortunate that such is the case. If water behaved like normal, then a frozen pond would freeze from the bottom up, eventually pushing the fish up and out until they asphyxiated in the air. Life would have had a much more difficult time evolving otherwise.

The techincal answer would be hydrogen but yeah i agree there so many things about water

 

Its something you could write about endlessly more or less.
