Strengths:

  • She is very social and makes friends easily as a result of constant travel throughout her life.

  • She is also very well read since she spent much time on the road and her father kept an extensive collection of books.

Weaknesses:

  • Aubrienne is a very emotional person. She often lets her feelings get the best of her, whether that is anger at someone else’s actions or excitement to try a new weave.

  • Strong emotions make her impulsive.

  • Aubrienne’s intense desire for revenge makes her impatient. This is a problem given the fact that patience is so very important when training to become an Aes Sedai. It causes her to try to push herself too far, too quickly and she will often disregard rules set in place for her own safety.

Character History: Born in Kandor to Kandori parents. Her mother left her father for another man when Aubrienne was 6, giving her a hatred for infidelity. At age 12 her grandmother revealed to her that she had studied in the White Tower but never gained the shawl. At 17, her father and grandmother were killed in a Trolloc raid in a small village along the Blightborder of Kandor. This fueled Aubrienne’s hatred of the shadow and led her to decide to become Aes Sedai.

Aubrienne was almost home. Of course, she had never had a real home. Most of her life had been spent traveling with her father’s merchant train. She had seen great Ogier-made cities such as Camelyn and Tar Valon, as well small, homely villages that dotted the countryside of almost every land. Most would have claimed that the merchant train was her home, and though it was special to her, it would always be second to the city that lay two days to the West.

Chachin, Kandor’s capital city, was the home of Aubrienne’s heart. It was the place of her ancestors and her birth. There, people understood the respect due to her father, who wore the three chains of a master merchant. There, people did not cover their faces, knowing that the Eyeless were near. Most of all, the women there wore proper trousers. Aubrienne had never understood how one was able to do anything in a dress. The only Kandori women she saw wear dresses were of noble birth, and she figured the only reason they could stand it was that everything was done for them by servants.

Alas, Aubrienne would have to wait a few more days to reach Chachin. The train was currently in a small Kandori village along the blightborder.

...

Ash fell from the sky as if it were snow, playing counterpart to shouts for water to put out the fires across the village. The scent in the air was one of death, a pure mixture of smoke, blood, and burning flesh. Whether that was caused by the victims of the raid, or the bonfires of dead Trollocs, Aubrienne didn’t know. She just started at the carnage before her and wept. Everyone she had ever loved, everyone she had ever really known, was gone.

No one had realized what was happening until the merchant train was already on fire, and the Trollocs upon them. While it had served as a warning to the villagers, it had meant death for all in her father’s party, all except Aubrienne. She had not been with the rest of the train, but at the village helping the Innkeeper tidy up. It was something that Aubrienne enjoyed doing when she could. In this case, it had saved her life.

She would have rather died.

Grief consuming her, Aubrienne had little room for rational thought. In fact, only one thought came to her at all. The Shadow must pay. How could she ensure this though? If she had been a man, and not a girl just past her 17th naming day, she could have become a soldier. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option for her. Then, Aubrienne remembered a day many years prior. One that she had nearly forgotten.

Aubrienne jumped carelessly from stone to stone, crossing the river that ran through the Andoran village. Though normally a fierce tempest worthy of caution, the flowing water could now only claim the name of a stream, diminished by the long summer months it had endured. It was a perfect representation of the Wheel’s turning. Though the river may change in strength and speed as the seasons flowed by, it would eventually be returned to its original power, just as everything is restored and repeated through the turning of the Wheel.

Young Aubrienne continued to run, past small village houses with thatched roofs and beautifully tended vegetable gardens. It was not long before she reached her father’s merchant train. They would not do much trading in the village. Few villagers had coin to spend on foriegn goods, and the bulk of the cargo was meant for Camelyn. This village would only be a stop along the way. A place to weather the night and rest before setting out the next morning.

“You should come see the village green, Grandma,” Aubrienne called as she opened the door to her grandmother’s wagon. “The flowers there are beautiful.” Stepping inside she turned to see her grandmother sitting on her bed, staring at what appeared to be a ring in the shape of a serpent biting its own tail. “What’s that?”

“Something I should have gotten rid of long ago,” Aubrienne’s grandmother replied. “I just don’t think I have the heart to do so.”

...

Aubrienne had decided. She would become Aes Sedai.

I'm going to approve this and assume, as the writer you do know she can't just *decide" to become an Aes Sedai. It's not clear whether the character knows she'll have to undergo testing but presumably you do so I'll let that pass. Enjoy writing.
